Not A Player(7)
Author: R.C. Stephens

“Shouldn’t I be the one getting wild? I’m getting married the day after tomorrow,” Declan says.

“Hell yeah,” Noah cuts in. “More shots. I’ve barely had a drink all season.”

“Yeah, because this year matters for both of us,” I remind him, since we both intend to draft.

“Exactly why we need to be having fun on vacation because when we get back, the fun is over and the hard work begins.” He nods.

He isn’t wrong. We’ll be a few months out of the Frozen Four when we get back to school. Now is the time to live a little.

“Let’s do this.” I wave for the guys to follow me to the bar and ask the bartender for five shots.

They get lined up and I lift the shot glass. “To Declan and Poppy and many happy years together.”

“Hear. Hear,” the guys respond, and then we are downing the shot followed by another.

I’m feeling warm and definitely loose when we head on to the dance floor and start dancing. At first, it’s the guys dancing separately from the girls, but then the couples slowly gravitate toward one another. That’s when I spot a long mane of dark hair. My eyes roam down the girl’s curves in a tight black dress. She looks hot as hell and I know exactly who she is because her sister is facing me with a smile and a wave. I walk toward Alessa, and Lili turns around since she was dancing facing the other direction.

“Hi.” I wave.

It’s much too loud to carry on a conversation.

“Do you want to dance?” I ask, leaning into Lili’s ear.

“Sorry, I’m here with my sister,” she responds.

“I’m actually headed to the ladies’ room,” Alessa says and then she shoots me a curious look.

Lili shoots daggers at her sister but her venom doesn’t last. She seems just as tipsy as I am.

“Is that a yes then?” I grin, watching her. Anticipating. She’s thinking on it. Damn.

I wait feeling anxious about her answer but not because I’m nervous. I just want this girl to say yes to me.

She looks at her sister and grins and then she smiles at me. Whoa, she is stunning. She’s got makeup on, not that she needs it. Her eyelashes are dark and long, and her lips look edible with her red lipstick.

“That is a yes,” she says, and we begin dancing. I’m pretty sure she’s on the tipsy side as she moves in close to me. At first, I place my hand on her hip and we just move to the music. Our bodies move in sync, and it feels good. Almost too good. I wonder what brought on her change of mood. Because this Lili isn’t snappy and closed off, she’s open to fun and I’m digging it. When a Spanish song comes on, she moves in closer and her body comes flush with mine as we move our hips. There is no question there is attraction between us. She looks me in the eyes with warmth and a smile splaying on her lips, and I feel like putty under her gaze. Both my hands come to her hips as we do some form of grinding on each other. I even take a risk and place my hand on her ass because she has the best ass. When she doesn’t shoo my hand away, I take it as a good sign. As the night wears on, her sister doesn’t return. So Lili checks her phone to see she has a text message from Alessa saying she went back to the hotel to talk to Nigel. Lili explains it’s her sister’s boyfriend. She also shows me the part of the text that says the handsome gentleman can walk her back to the hotel, and I seemed safe because she saw me playing with babies on the beach today.

“Who do the babies belong to?” Lili shouts.

“They’re my friends’ kids. Everyone is here for the wedding,” I yell over the music.

Lili nods. “Let’s get a drink.”

I take her hand and lead her to the bar. I see my friends dancing and having a good time, and I’m glad to have found Lili.

“What are you drinking?” I ask her.

“I started with tequila,” she says.

“Me too.” I grin. I don’t think I’ve been this drunk in my life.

I order each of us a shot. We clink glasses and down it.

Lili licks her lips, and my gaze drops to her luscious lips.

I kissed a girl in high school and got a handy back then too, but since then I’ve been on a sexual hiatus.

“Come, let’s dance some more.” She takes my hand and leads me out to the dance floor.

Declan is dancing with Poppy right beside us and my brother smiles and winks at me, but I lose concentration when Lili runs her hands through my hair and kisses me. At first, she reaches up and presses her lips to mine. Even in heels she is shorter than me, so I bend my knees so our lips are level and kiss her back. The kiss grows heated fast and she parts her lips, giving me access to her tongue, and then we are practically making out on the dance floor. It feels amazing but also makes my body burn with a desire I’ve never felt before. I’m in my senior year of college and I’ve never had this much fun in my life.

We break apart when both of us are thirsty. “I think we should get water on this round,” I suggest because I’m drunk, and I’ve never been drunk before.

“I think we should do another round of shots,” Lili suggests instead. This girl is trouble.

“I’ve never been drunk before. I also need to walk you back to the hotel and I don’t want to black out in the process.” I meant to say I’ve never been this drunk before, but I think I may have just told her the truth because her eyes are wide.

“No way,” she says.

Yup. I told her the truth.

“I didn’t have time to party with my schedule,” I explain.

Her brows furrow and then she smiles and shakes her head. We order two waters and then Lili orders another two shots, insisting this time she is paying. I don’t let her. I pay for the drinks and then down the glass of water in what feels like two gulps. Then we clink shot glasses again and down the shots.

“Let’s dance.” She pulls me back to the area where everyone is dancing.

I’m feeling good. I’m feeling horny as hell as Lili rakes her nails through my scalp.

I’m pulled from my Lili-induced haze when I feel a tap on my shoulder.

“Bro, Cait and I are heading out.” It’s Noah and he’s swaying.

“Okay,” I say, and then I look for the others. “Where is everyone?”

“They all left. No one wanted to interrupt you, but we’re tired now too,” Noah shares. “You want to head back with us, you seem pretty wasted,” he says. He must be just as drunk as I am but he’s handling his liquor well, or maybe just better than me.

I look at Lili. “You ready to head back to the hotel?”

“Sure.” She nods.

“Sorry, bro. I must have lost track of time,” I say.

“No worries. I’m just fried,” Noah replies.

“And my leg is frigging hurting,” Cait complains.

We leave the club and head outside. My ears feel plugged as Lili holds on to my arm.

“You guys remember Lili from the hotel,” I remind Noah and Cait.

“Yeah, nice to meet you, again,” Cait says. “I think we need Uber. Do they have Uber in Hawaii?” she asks. I can tell she is tipsy but not drunk.

“Of course they have Uber,” Noah says. He pulls out his phone and drops it on the ground and we all burst into laughter because it’s really funny.
