Not A Player(9)
Author: R.C. Stephens

I stumble toward my bed since our room has two double beds. Alessa is fast asleep as I reach down to open the buckle on the stilettos I was wearing. I take off the first shoe and groan. My feet hurt and I’m drunk, which means they must be killing me. I throw off the other shoe and it accidentally hits the dresser and makes a loud bang. My eyes widen as I worry I may wake Alessa, but she stays asleep. I stand and reach for my back to undo the zipper of the dress. I’m not steady though and fall face-first on the bed with a whoosh that causes laughter to burst out of me. Shit. I smack a hand over my mouth and stand again. I can do this. I reach for the zipper and it budges a little. This is no use. I pull the dress over my head but the part I need to get over my head is a small circle, which is why the dress has a zipper. Damn. I get suffocated inside the dress and fall over on the floor. “Agh.” I land in a heap, still stuck in this dress.

“Lili?” Alessa’s voice is groggy from sleep.

“Sorry,” I groan.

She turns on the lamp by her bedside. I know this because, even with a black dress over my head I sense light.

“Crap. Are you drunk?” she asks.

“Kind of,” I admit, my voice going high. I try to stand but I can’t really see anything, and I need to use a piece of furniture to help me up.

“Get up,” Alessa says, taking my hand. She pulls me up using my two hands. “What on earth did you do to this dress?” she asks, and I can picture her lips forming a frown. She helps me pull it over my head and when she does, I take a big gulp of air, feeling the overwhelming sense of freedom of not having the dress on my body anymore.

That’s when I take in my sister’s features. Her right brow is cocked. “Guessing you had a good night?”

“Oh, it was good. Better than I expected.” I walk over to the dresser and unclasp my bra and throw off my panties. Then I reach into the drawer I put my jammies in and pull out an oversized night shirt and slip it on.

“Shit, I need to pee.” I run for the bathroom, smacking the door shut and falling back onto the toilet. As I pee, a huge smile spreads my lips. Tonight was fun. I needed this.

After flushing the toilet and washing my hands, I head back out to the room. Alessa is back in bed with the lamp off, but even in the darkness of the room I see she is sitting up in bed.

“He’s really nice,” I say.

“He got you drunk, he can’t be that nice,” she retorts. “Please tell me you didn’t have sex with him. I wanted you to let loose a little, not get totally wasted.”

There she goes being my big sister again.

“Hey, that isn’t fair. We didn’t have sex. We kissed and it was glorious. We also danced and I met his friends, who are super nice.”

“Well, I’m glad you had a good time. Nice to see a smile on your face. I was getting sick and tired of sour Lili,” she shares.

“I was getting sick and tired of her too,” I admit. “He reminded me I’m young and sexy.”

“The guy is fine, Lili, but we’re on vacation, keep things simple,” Alessa reminds.

“He wants to meet for breakfast tomorrow morning. He wanted to climb Diamond Head with me, but I won’t manage that after a night of drinking.”

“I guess a little fling wouldn’t do you any harm. Just don’t go falling for the guy,” Alessa warns.

“As if,” I snort. “I’m starting school fresh in January. I don’t want any attachments. I need to focus on me. His attention just feels good.”

“I bet it does. The guy is gorgeous. You should go hiking with him after breakfast tomorrow. Truth is, I was thinking of taking my computer down to the beach anyway to get some work done,” she says.

“I don’t want to leave you. This trip is bonding time for us too,” I remind her.

“I love you, baby sister, but I think Nigel is going to propose. If that happens, I will have a wedding of my own to plan, and I need to get some work out of the way.”

I squeal. “Are you kidding me? That’s amazing news.” I get out of bed and hug her.

“Pew. You smell like you dowsed yourself in tequila.” She scrunches her nose. She also smiles and says, “Thank you. I love him, Lili.”

“I’m so happy for you.”

“Thank you. Now get your drunk ass to sleep. You have a mountain to climb.”

“I do. In more ways than one,” I sigh. I climb off her bed and into mine. I fall asleep fast and dream of Logan with his wide shoulders, strong arms, and silver eyes. Only we aren’t climbing Diamond Head, we are having sex and I’m loving every second of it.

Logan

I squint against the sun shining into my room. “What the fu. . .” I look at the alarm clock next to my bed. It’s 8:00 a.m. and, apparently, I forgot to close the curtains when I fell asleep last night. My head throbs and my mouth feels like sandpaper. I force myself up because I need to piss like a freaking racehorse. I get out of bed feeling unsteady and trudge to the bathroom. I managed to strip out of my clothes last night and crashed in my boxers. I make my way to the sink to wash my hands and throw some cool water on my face. What I feel like doing is falling back asleep, and yet a part of me is trained to wake up every morning and run or do some sort of physical workout. Today my body is drained. It reminds me why I chose not to drink and live it up until now. Yet, when I think of last night, I have no regrets. Liliana is gorgeous and when her dark doe eyes looked into mine, my heart literally ricocheted in my chest. Her kisses were sweet, and her personality was fun. She’s been through a hard time which I know, thanks to her sister. The fact she trusted me, danced with me, and kissed me means everything. My dick turns half-mast just thinking of her curves in that formfitting dress she wore last night. I don’t know if she expected me to invite her back to my room, but I was way past drunk. Plus, not really knowing what to do when it comes to sex, I figured my first rodeo should be sober. I don’t even know if she wanted more. What I do know is the chemistry between us was combustible, but I don’t want to be presumptuous either and assume those were her intentions. I down both water bottles left by the maid in my hotel room. After scratching my head and staring into space for I don’t know how long, I contemplate going back to sleep, but something inside me won’t allow for that. The guilt or whatever it is that drives me forward makes me feel like I need to take a shower and go for a run. Or maybe, climb Diamond Head with a sexy Latina girl with long black hair and molten eyes, and an ass that begs to be touched. I opt for the shower and along the way, I get myself off because I don’t need to go make a fool of myself if things go where I hope they will with Liliana today. It’s my first time wanting more with a girl and it’s exciting as hell. I want to kiss her and get to know her better, which is problematic because she doesn’t want anything more than a vacation fling. Which I gather from the fact she doesn’t want us exchanging any information that will link us back to each other after this trip. It may be crazy, but I’m willing to take whatever I can get from her. And if that means a measly hike, then so be it.

After spending way too much time in the shower, I get dressed in a pair of shorts and a tank since this place is boiling hot. I head out of the room, thinking I will go downstairs and bring Lili and her sister coffee from the coffee shop in the lobby. I also need some acetaminophen for my head, which is pounding. I would say I’ll never drink again but last night was fun. Not that I plan on making a habit of drinking too much and hitting clubs. It just isn’t my style.
