Desk Banger(14)
Author: K.S. Rochell

The tone of her voice made me realize that she would go to any length to get Nicholas back. I knew she meant every word she’d said. She would drag my name through the mud and make my life miserable. I folded my arms across my chest, watching her. She was a beautiful woman. Her smile could soften the hardest heart. But that charming smile was as lethal as her. She ran her fingers over her knuckles, flashing her glittering diamond ring in my face. I took a sip of my drink while maintaining eye contact with her. Fuck, I wanted to kick her cunt so bad, but I wouldn’t let her scare me away.

Lisa reached into her purse and pulled out a neatly folded sheet.

“What is that?”

“I didn’t want to trouble you, so I drafted the prenup,” Lisa replied. “Look over it and approve it. Have a nice day, Amber.”

With that, she got up with a sadistic smirk on her face and walked away, but I heard her murmur something under her breath.

Oh, it’s on! If she wants a fight, I will give her one.

I wish I could just grab her by her perfect blonde strands and yank them until her head spun like Linda Blair’s did in The Exorcist. Unfortunately, I needed to maintain my professionalism for now.

I was still fuming with anger when I got back to the office. Instead of immediately working on the prenup, I decided to do a background check on her. I needed to know what she truly was. Since she was Hector Montgomery’s fiancée, her pictures were all over the internet and on several gossip blogs.

Fortunately, the first article I found revealed some details about her relationship with Nicholas. The writer described her relationship with Nicholas as wild and adventurous. There were several pictures of them at parties with Lisa hanging off Nicholas’s arm. In one of the pictures, they were making out in a dark parking lot. I was jealous, but I couldn’t help scrolling through the article until I got to the end.

The next article described her relationship with Nicholas as the most shocking and scandalous affair of the century. This publication also showed pictures of them kissing and a drunk Lisa trying to give Nicholas head in a restaurant. I was so overwhelmed that I could feel my hands shaking.

Another article described them as the golden couple. Lisa and Nicholas were in their swimwear on a beach.

Some publications claimed that Lisa was trouble and would surely lead to Nicholas’s destruction. However, a few publications said the couple was living their best life and seemed to be so much in love. They’d frolicked around the globe, openly flaunting their relationship. They’d certainly given the media enough to write about.

Despite everything that had been written about them, it was glaring to all that he had a soft spot for her. I wanted to know what Nicholas had seen in her and why he had been attracted to her.

I checked out Lisa’s biography on a popular website. I found out that she’d lost her parents in a ghastly accident a few months before she started dating Nicholas. That explained why he had a soft spot for her.

I went back to the gossip blogs, and I found out how they’d broken up. A picture of Nicholas and Lisa accompanied the caption, Nicholas Brighton and his girlfriend, Lisa, end their high-profile romance.

Their relationship had ended with a huge fight in a hotel with the cops having to break it up. A particular picture of Nicholas caught my eyes; he looked so upset and broken.

The next couple of articles after the breakup talked about how Lisa had started to date other rich men. Lisa was portrayed as a gold digger in several articles. It was alleged that she caught the attention of wealthy men and almost drove them to bankruptcy. She was on the arm of a different man every weekend.

One of the men whose heart she’d broken ended up in the hospital. The more I read about her, the more I realized how devilish she was. It also seemed that she got any man she set her eyes on. I was surprised when a picture of Lisa and Anthony popped up. The pictures seemed to have been taken recently. I’d had no idea that Lisa and Anthony were close.

Lisa was up to something. I could feel it in my bones. Besides trying to keep me away from Nicholas, there was something else she wanted to achieve. I couldn’t figure out what she could be up to, but it made me uncomfortable.

My gaze fell on the prenup, which Lisa had drafted. The first few lines fueled my rage. This cuntasaurus was definitely a gold digger. Everything she had written was in her favor. Even a blind man could see through her and the prenup she had written.

“What is she up to?” I sighed inwardly. “She’s practically screaming that she wants Hector just for his money.”

It was obvious that she would leave Hector after she got what she wanted from him. I wondered if Hector would blindly trust her and sign it. I knew she would make him have complete faith in her. Then, she would make him sign the prenup without reading it.

The best thing to do, the most sensible thing to do, would be to look the other way while Lisa achieved her goal. But could I live with that on my conscience?

I reached for my cup of coffee, groaning when I realized it was empty. I must have downed over five cups of coffee since I started reading Lisa’s prenup and making the necessary changes to it. She wanted half of Hector’s estate if he decided to call off their engagement, and if she break it off with him, he was supposed to generously compensate her with a house in Beverly Hills.

I’d stayed up most of the night, trying my best to make the prenup fair to both parties. Lisa wouldn’t be pleased with the changes, but I couldn’t approve it as it had been, knowing that I would be helping Lisa dig up Hector’s grave.

In the event of the death of one spouse, each party wishes to leave his or her entire estate and businesses to the surviving spouse. Both parties agree that it is just and fair that only the surviving spouse is entitled to the estate of the deceased spouse.

I had goose bumps on my skin when I read that part of the prenup. I had known she was calculated, but could she commit murder? Something wasn’t right with the things she had written in the prenup.

I picked up the original copy of the prenup and headed to Nicholas’s office to explain my suspicions to him. My heart tightened when I walked in and saw Lisa crying hysterically in Nicholas’s arms. He was patting her back, soothing her.

The fuck?

She was really good at manipulating. I wanted to drag her out by her porcelain-colored hair. At this point, I was certain that she was up to something. Lisa was playing a dirty game, and Nicholas was slowly falling into her trap. I knew he had a weak spot for her. Even the look on his face proved that he still cared about her.

“Amber,” Nicholas said, “do you need anything?”

“Nicholas, may I speak to you in the hallway?” I asked.

He nodded his head. Then, he pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to Lisa. She brushed her fingers across his cheek as she took the handkerchief from him. When our eyes met, I could tell that she was faking her tears. We went into the hallway, where we could talk in private.

“Lisa gave me a copy of the prenup she’d drafted,” I said. “Take a look at it.

It seems like she’s trying to con Hector.”

Nicholas shoved a hand into his pocket, and with his other hand, he combed his fingers through his hair. “I don’t think there’s anything to worry about.”
