Everything That Glitters (Velvet Thunder, #1)(10)
Author: Emery Jacobs

He unsnaps his seat belt before leaning across the seat and whispering, “Get out of your head, mean girl. I want you more now than I did five minutes ago, and in another five minutes, I’ll want you more than I do now.” He kisses my neck just below my ear. My heart races, my nerves dance, and my stomach does a quick somersault. He’s lucky I’m hanging on to my last thread of self-control, otherwise I’d be on his lap doing things that would probably get us banned from ever using Uber again.

The car turns into the gated community of Grayson Hills, a new development located on the outskirts of town. The only reason I even know about this place is because I came here with Uncle Kurt about six months ago to look at one of the new condos. He was thinking of buying one and wanted my opinion, but he later decided against it and purchased a place nearer to downtown. I glance over at the guy sitting next to me and wonder how the hell he can afford to live here. These condos sell for over a million dollars each and come equipped with a nice five-hundred-dollar monthly homeowners association fee to cover the fitness center, golf course, event center, and spa. Surely he doesn’t still live with his parents. I mean, he looks like he’s pushing thirty. How many thirty year olds still live at home? I want to pull out my phone and Google it but decide I’m being judgmental and petty, because why does it even matter? This is just one night of sex—who cares if the sex is in the same house where his parents will be sleeping? Me—I care. I wasn’t even brave enough to do that in high school.

The car pulls up and stops at the first corner unit. I slide out of the vehicle and take in my surroundings so I know where I’m at, just in case there’s a need for a sudden getaway. He moves around the car and places his hand on the small of my back, directing me up the sidewalk toward the small porch.

A dim light hangs just above the door, and I quickly grab my phone and take a picture of it before sending it to Ella with the name of the community and street before switching my ringer to silent.

He looks over at me and his eyes narrow. “What’re you doing?”

“Sending my dad a picture of the door with the condo number along with the name of the street and community. He’s a cop, you know.” I’m hoping maybe the lie will spark some fear in him, in case he decides to do something crazy or illegal or both.

He laughs as he punches in the code to unlock the door. “You always make it a habit of telling your dad you’re hooking up with some random guy? Cause that’s just . . .” He shakes his head before pushing the door open and leading me inside. “Fucking weird.”

Dammit! I should’ve considered how that sounded before I said it, because of course this guy would think it’s weird that I’m updating my father about my one-night stand.

He flips on the light in the foyer, and I survey the entrance. It’s really nice. I mean, over-the-top nice, with a modern chandelier hanging from the vaulted ceiling. The walls are a butter yellow, and there is a large hand-painted picture hanging on the wall to my right. On the left is an oversized mirror that covers almost the entire wall.

“I actually sent it to my best friend who will forward it to my father if I come up missing,” I say as I walk into the open living and dining area. Geez, every room is nicer than the one before. “I don’t think keeping my family and friends informed about where I’m at and who I’m with is any creepier than you bringing me to your parents’ house to have sex.” There is no way a single guy lives here alone, or even with another male roommate. The kitchen is all white, and the living space is amazing with light walls, dark hardwood floors, and huge windows covering the wall on the right. The place gives off a clean, airy vibe, and it smells like homemade cookies.

“This isn’t my parents’ house,” he says, gently gripping my waist and pulling my body flush against his.

I drop my head back and look into his blue eyes. “So, do you have a roommate?” As much as I want to rip off my clothes and jump into his arms, I’m also curious about his living arrangement.

“Yeah, but he’s not here, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

I shake my head. “I’m not worried.” At least not about his roommate, but what I am worried about is whether or not this guy really lives here with another guy and not a female who works as an interior designer. This place is just too clean—too perfect. I mean, it looks almost staged.

“Give me this.” He grabs my phone and purse before tossing them onto the couch. My breath catches when his lips touch my neck once, twice, and on the third time, I shiver. “Are you good with this?” He brushes his mouth over mine before pulling me closer into him.

“Yes,” I whisper, and then he kisses me again, but this time it’s slow and hard. The kiss lasts for seconds, or maybe minutes; it’s difficult for me to know because I’m so wrapped up in this guy. How is it possible to completely own me with one kiss? He shifts his weight slightly and cups my face before pulling his mouth away from mine. His blue eyes shine brightly as a smile flickers across his swollen lips. This guy is too damn sexy.

He drops his hands from my face and slides his fingers through mine. He turns away, leading me toward the stairs at the back of the room, but then he stops suddenly and pulls me in for another kiss. “I don’t know if I can make it to the bedroom,” he whispers against my lips.

My heart pounds against my chest as desire twists in my gut. “Then don’t.” I pull away from him quickly, and in a bold move, I tug my black dress over my head, letting it fall to the floor. My boots come off next, leaving me standing there in nothing but my bra and panties.

His eyes rake over my almost naked body, and he moans. “Fuck me. You. Are. Beautiful,” he growls and then quickly moves toward me. His hands plunge into my hair, pulling my head closer to him, and then, like a starving man, he kisses me hard and wild. No one has ever kissed me with so much want. A deep pulse races through me, and an ache finds its way between my legs. My body feels restless. I need more, and I need it now. As if he can sense my impatience, he releases my head, slides his fingers down my neck over my breasts, across my stomach, and stops at my panties. “Tell me what you want.” For you to stop the throbbing between my legs before I go crazy. He gently toys with the lacy edge of my underwear. A soft moan escapes my lips as I grab his hand and quickly move it away from the lacy edge and down to the thin piece of fabric that lightly covers the growing ache.

“Touch me,” I whisper.

“Here.” He slides the fabric to the side and immediately begins to circle my nub with his thumb. Taunting. Playing. Not giving me what I need.

“Mmm . . .” I nudge his hand slightly to the right. His thumb brushes my clit, and I almost come. Holy shit! I can’t remember ever being this turned on. I literally can’t breathe. “There,” I say softly, and he brushes it again, but this time he adds a bit more pressure. I’m hot and needy, and I want so much more.

His lips move to my neck and skim across my ear. “Does it feel good when I touch you here?” he whispers as he gently slides one finger inside me followed quickly by a second. So good. My hips move slowly and purposefully, searching for the perfect amount of friction.

“Yes,” I whisper. My eyes flutter closed as my head falls back. The worry of being here with a random guy I met at the bar fades and is quickly replaced with this being possibly one of my best decisions ever. His lips continue to move over my skin and my body grows tight. “Oh, God, don’t stop!” I yell, louder than I should, but I don’t care because I feel wild, free, and out of control, and I need more of him. I ride out my orgasm as a wave of warmth washes over me.
