Scarred By Pain (Royal Bastards MC : New Orleans, LA #2)(7)
Author: Crimson Syn

“I don’t think I should be leaving you at all. Let alone allowing you to go someplace you clearly aren’t comfortable going to.”

“Like I said, that’s none of your business. You can either help me or I’ll figure it out alone.”

She shot up and headed to the door. “Where the hell are you going?”

“I’ll walk if I have to.”

She tugged the door open and I immediately slammed it shut. “No, you will not.”

“You can’t keep me here,” she whispered and tried again, but I pressed on the doorframe not wanting her to leave yet. Besides, she’d piqued my curiosity and I wanted to know exactly where she was going and with who.

Deep down it aggravated me that there even was a man, let alone one she trusted. But whoever that was, I wanted to know.

“I’ll take you,” I acceded.

She turned to me and the sudden movement brought us face to face, merely inches from one another. I leaned into her and could feel the heat from her body penetrate through mine. I pressed my fist to the doorframe, keeping myself from touching her. Because if I did, I didn’t think I would be able to stop until I was buried seven inches deep inside of her.

Fuck!

“What time is he expecting you?”

“After sunset.”

Her breathing escalated slightly as I leaned even further toward her. I let my eyes fall to the tops of her plush tits, rising and falling, molding to that pretty sundress with every breath she took. My mouth watered and as I licked my lips. A small gasp escaped her as her hand flew to her chest.

My eyes met hers, and her expression surprised me. It wasn’t that of fear but curiosity. Her fingertips grazed her flesh, not hiding it from me but subconsciously enticing me to watch.

I narrowed my eyes as I focused on her. Leaning in, I pressed into her body, it was a bold move, one that made my cock rage and harden in my jeans as it pressed against her soft curves.

Her eyes dropped between us and her lips parted, cheeks flushed, and her pretty eyes met mine. There was an intensity to her gaze that made me take a step back. The woman unnerved me, and I didn’t like feeling like I was losing control.

That wasn’t an option in my life.

“We’ll leave in a few hours. You should lay down. I’ll bring you something to eat.”

She reached out, gently running her fingertips along my arm. I flexed beneath her soft touch, those damn feelings igniting once again.

“Thank you.”

I nodded and avoided her eyes. Those eyes that searched my soul for all my secrets. Secrets I would never let anyone close enough to know.

“I’ll be back.”

Yanking the door open, I ran out. Literally. I couldn’t get away from her fast enough. I wasn’t ready for this woman, or my reactions to her. I had other things I needed to focus on instead of the sweet scent of a girl who I barely knew.

“When did he say he’d be here?” My eyes were on her curvy silhouette which paced back and forth in front of my bike’s headlights. The sound of frogs echoed around us and she’d stop every once in a while, her eyes widening in fear as an indiscernible sound came through the wind.

Why the fuck this asshole would choose this rundown piece of shit place to have her meet him was ridiculous and I didn’t like his lack of concern for her well-being in the last bit. I was on fucking edge, with my hand on the Glock I kept in my waistband. I’d parked the bike on the side of the building. I leaned against the brick, so that my back was protected in case this motherfucker decided to suddenly become a hero.

“He should be here soon,” she sounded frightened.

“Yeah well I don’t like the fact that this fucker is making you wait. Did he expect to leave you here all night?”

I was pissed as fuck that anyone would treat her like this. The anger coiled through me as the minutes ticked on.

“Dyanara?”

She turned to me; worry embedded in her features. “You don’t have to go with him.”

“If only you knew what would happen if I stayed, you wouldn’t pressure me.”

“Why don’t you tell me,” I was about to grab her and ask her to stay, but the fucker decided to show up. An old black Chevy Impala drove up the road, music blasting and high beams on, clearly wanting to blind anyone from the driver.

She turned to me as he pressed on the horn, like she hadn’t already seen him. I watched her from the shadows, and she mouthed the words, thank you, giving me a small wave as she rushed off. I stood in the headlights, the urge to keep her by my side was strong. She paused at the door, her eyes on me for a brief moment before I heard him tell her to get in.

The depth in that look- I felt that shit to the core. But before I could get to her, the car swerved, taking her with it. I lifted my arm to shield my face from the dust and then stood there, watching the lights disappear. The sound of the frogs echoed around me once again, and a deep stillness rang in the air. I shuddered because I knew I wouldn’t let this go. I was going to find out who she was. I glanced down at the gift she’d left behind, and I knew just where to start to get my answers. Even if it meant revealing my own demons to get them.

Dyanara

Diego had been furious when he finally arrived, but I’d ignored his ranting. I was too focused on the man I’d left behind. It was as if a safety net had been yanked from under me, leaving me vulnerable once again. I didn’t even realize that he had provided that, until it was too late, and we were already miles away.

Tears had welled in my eyes, knowing I’d willingly gone back to the lion’s den. The man’s offer had been so tempting. The look in his eyes was sincere. He was willing to protect me, but I wasn’t willing to put that man in danger. He had no idea what my brother was capable of. What he would do to him if he ever found me.

I watched Diego as he spat out his fury at me. I didn’t care. He was alive and, in the end, no one had died at the cost of my slip-ups. The clubhouse was quiet when we pulled up, and I glanced up into the darkness. I deserved it for being so stupid and letting freedom slip through my fingertips. I didn’t owe these men anything, least of all my life. But I stayed, because maybe, just maybe my mother would return for me like she promised.

Do as he says, mi amor. Don’t give him a reason. I’ll be back for you, I promise.

I lived on her promise, but deep down inside I knew. I knew she wasn’t coming back.

“There’s no one in the house,” he snapped. Leaning over me and opening the door.

“How did you…”

“No preguntes.”

“Look...I’m sorry. But you can’t blame…”

“I don’t want to hear it. And I don’t care what our deal was. It’s over.”

“Diego, please!”

He yanked his arm away from my grip and got out of the car. He seethed with anger as he dragged me out of the seat. “You have no fucking idea what I’ve been through to save your ass. Both our asses!”

He shoved me through the door and up the stairs. “Please, Diego. Listen to me.”

“Dije que, suficiente!”

Tears started to stream down my cheeks as the desperation took over. His hold was almost brutal as he shoved me into my room. “I don’t want to hear it! You have put me through hell and back and I will not do it again. I won’t put my life in danger for anyone. Especially not a desperate little bitch like you!”
