Blossom : A Passionate Love(7)
Author: Asia Monique

“Hey, Bloss,” she answered, sounding extremely happy. “I thought you had a date tonight.”

“I’m on it, and it’s horrible,” I whined, pacing the floor. “Please get me out of it.” There was laughter in the background, and I paused. “Who are you with?”

“Daisy and Lilac are here.”

“Without me!” She laughed.

“You had a date, remember?” I sighed and started pacing again.

“Right. Well, please call me in five minutes and get me out of this disaster before I lose my damn mind and then pour me a drink, so it’s ready by the time I get there.” She agreed, and I rushed back to the table. The minute my jean-clad ass was back in my seat, Eric began talking my head off again. I stared at him, disappointed in how such a fine ass man could be this… this… I don't even have the words to explain what he is. My phone vibrated right on time, and I had to force myself not to smile.

“Sorry,” I muttered, picking up. “Lily, what’s wrong?”

“Your wine is ready,” she said, laughing. “Wait… no, Lilac just drank it, but I’m pouring another glass right now.” I bit down on my lip.

“Shit! OK! I’ll be there.” Her laughter spilled into the phone, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the man heard it. I hung up and mustered up the best apologetic face I could find.

“Is everything OK?” he asked, concern laced in his tone.

“My sister is having contractions, and she’s freaking out,” I lied. It came out so smooth, I almost believed myself. “I need to get to her. I’m so sorry to cut this night short.”

“Don’t be sorry. Family comes first.” I stood, and he followed my lead. “But let’s try this again sometime soon.” I nodded and stuffed my phone into my pocket and then grabbed my purse.

“I’ll call you.” I rushed out of the restaurant, and once I was in the comfort of my truck, and behind my dark tint I sighed in relief. Before pulling off, I grabbed my phone and blocked Eric’s number. There was no point in having pointless conversations with him later when he was simply not for me.

Twenty minutes later, I was pushing past Lily and heading straight for her kitchen.

“Where’s the wine?” I asked.

“Hello to you too,” she said, laughing.

“Hello.” I stepped into the kitchen. “Where’s the wine?” Lilac held up a glass, and I took it from her hand, guzzling it down within seconds. “Another, please.”

“Was it that bad?” Daisy asked giggling. Lilac filled my glass and handed it back to me. “You look stressed, love.”

“My life is a disaster,” I whined, plopping down in an empty stool. “I’m horny, lonely, and did I mention horny?” I pressed my forehead into the counter and continued to rant. “I mean, what’s a girl gotta do to get some good dick around here?”

“Maybe she shouldn’t run out on dates with potential good dick,” Lilac suggested. I snorted.

“And I refuse to give up my six-month virginity to a man who asks the same questions over and over again in different ways. Can you imagine what he would be saying during sex?”

“Is it good, baby?” Daisy asked, deepening her voice.

“Yes, daddy,” Lilac answered, raising her pitch an octave. I hope that wasn’t how I really sounded.

“It’s good, huh?” Lily followed up with. I lifted my head and sighed.

“Exactly!” This time I sipped on my wine a little slower. “I would be so pissed.”

“You know what,” Lilac began lifting a hand into the air and then letting it fall. “That would piss me off too.” Daisy nodded.

“But whatever,” I said. “Maybe I need to stay celibate for a while, and then my prince charming will show up and give me mind-blowing orgasms when I least expect it.” I lifted my gaze to find my sisters staring at me. “What?”

“Are you OK?” Daisy asked first. I frowned.

“Yes, do I not look, OK?”

“That’s not what she means, Bloss,” Lilac said. “Are you OK?” Oh.

I shrugged and said, “I’m fine.”

“I don’t think you’re telling the truth,” Lily said, shaking her head. I drained my glass and stood.

“I’m fine, I promise.” I glanced at my watch and then back at them. “We have a long day tomorrow, so I better head home and get some rest.” Daisy nodded with her gaze still on me.

“I’m going to head out too,” she said.

“Same,” Lilac chimed in. We said our goodbyes to Lily and walked down to the parking lot together. Daisy and I watched Lilac as she pulled out first, and then she turned to me.

“I know something isn’t right with you.” My sister was an empath through and through. It was hard hiding things from her. I sighed and decided to reveal a little.

“Just been feeling a little sad lately. Like my life isn’t moving along like everyone else’s.”

“You mean your love life?” I nodded. “Oh, Bloss. Your guy is out there, and I have a feeling you’ll meet him sooner rather than later.” She had this small knowing smile on her face as if she knew something that I didn’t. But instead of questioning the look, I simply nodded and climbed into my truck. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Dais.” She shut my door, and I watched until she was inside her car before pulling away and heading into the direction of my apartment.

“Shit,” I mumbled, jumping back to avoid losing a foot when the gifts in my truck came tumbling out after opening it. I may have overdone it with the baby shopping, but I was excited about the new addition. I shook my head and pulled my phone out to call one of the guys for help. Magnolia’s baby shower was happening at Ayden’s house because he had more backyard space then he needed. Since Ayden and Daisy were hosting, I called Brandon’s phone first but he didn’t answer. Then, I tried Ezra but got the same results. I didn’t want to bother Lennox because I knew he was tending to Magnolia, and I needed him to continue focusing on that. My sisters were probably running around like crazy tending to guests and wouldn’t answer, so I opted to make the first trip myself and then drag someone back with me.

As I reorganized everything from biggest to smallest and gathered the first round of gifts to take inside, I took notice of a red Alfa Romeo SUV pulling into the driveway. I wasn’t someone who knew her vehicles, but that specific truck was one that I wanted for myself. I stared at the sleek finish in awe, and whoever the owner was swapped the silver rim color for a matte black finish. They had taste. I found myself standing there, waiting for the person to exit. I’d never seen this truck before, so whoever was inside had to be someone I’d never met. Just as the door opened, my phone vibrated in my pocket and startled me. I dropped the three diaper boxes in my arms and cursed.

Great job, Blossom.

A low rumble of laughter filled the air, and my head shot up. I gasped softly at the sight before me. My God. He was not what I had expected to see, and I’d definitely never met him before. There was no way I would have forgotten a face that beautiful. My eyes followed the length of his tall frame and then settled on his face again. His midnight black eyes were a complete contrast to his golden-brown skin. He lifted his hand and pulled on his well-groomed beard, and I followed the motion, noting the gold watch and mala beards on his wrist.
