Let Me Love You More(12)
Author: Alandra Knight

“Please tell me you at least got her name,” my momma jokes.

“Very funny, Momma. It wasn’t even like that. Xander had to cancel boys’ night because of his employee calling out, again. So, I stepped in to help him out at the bar. I did meet someone though. Her name is Mia. She was hanging out with Brie and the girls. Momma, I tell you, I spent the entire night talking to her. I mean, just talking. It’s not code for anything; we didn’t even share a kiss. This woman is smart, funny, and she’s beautiful in a girl-next-door way. Her personality is so contagious—”

“A contagious personality? What’s that supposed to mean?” Mom inquires.

“Her laugh, the way she carries herself, and she can carry on an intelligent conversation. She’s so brilliant, so easy to talk to. She just captures your attention. I’ve never met a woman like Mia before.”

“Why do I feel a “but” coming on?” Momma asks.

I groan. “Well, I’m pretty sure she has already put three strikes against me and that we can’t date because of it,” I explain.

“What are the three strikes?”

“The first one is that I’m Cal and Carter’s best friend.”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“She’s their little sister.”

“Cal can’t say much about it, because he hooked up with her best friend Brie,” Momma defends.

“But this also means that I’m her boss. Let’s not forget about the fact that from what Cal and Carter tell me, and from what she’s already shared with me, her ex-husband is a real tool,” I say, pissed on Mia’s behalf.

“Yeah, I’ve heard them talk about how he left her high and dry with two kids, one of which is a medically fragile child.” Momma pauses for a moment and lets out a little sigh. “Liam, I’ve never heard you speak about a girl—”

“That’s the thing Momma, she isn’t a girl… she’s a woman.”

“Son, with anything in life you have to ask yourself, is it worth doing? In this case, you need to ask yourself if Mia is worth pursuing?”

“I have never just met a female and instantly hit it off with her until I met Mia,” I say with passion.

“Liam, you need to make sure that she’s someone worth your time. It won’t be easy to break through those brick walls that Mia has built up around her heart. From what Carter tells me, Chris was her one and only and the way that he left her and the kids, you’ll definitely have your work cut out for you.”

“I know, Momma. She’s beyond amazing though. We started talking and the next thing we knew the sun was coming up over the horizon. For the first time since I left home, I felt like a piece of myself that I lost was given back to me. I want to know all there is to know about her,” I tell her with feeling.

I start to look around the empty townhouse and realize that it’s late enough in the morning that my sons should be up. “Where are the boys?” I ask her suspiciously. If there’s one thing I know for sure about parenting, quiet kids are not normally a good thing.

“Your brother didn’t call you?” Momma inquires.

I shake my head. “Which brother?”

“Well, Aiden and Cooper wanted to hang out with Kale and Reed since they’re home from college this weekend. They wanted to have a sleepover with all the cousins like old times.” Momma beams proudly, knowing that her and Pops started that. Once a month they would keep all the kids overnight at their house to give the parents a break. The one thing that she and my pops are so proud of is even though they all grew up and got older, not one of the kids had ever missed it. Even in their teen years they all still pushed for it, even when Momma and Pops announced they weren’t going to since they were supposedly getting too old. The older kids would pick up the younger kids and crash their house once a month to keep the tradition going. The older kids helped with the younger kids so Momma and Pops could just enjoy it.

“With all of them?” I ask in wonder.

“Yes. Kale’s almost done with college for early education, then he’s continuing on for his Special Education degree. He’s spending as much time with younger kids as he can. Something about the more kids he hangs out with, the better his research for his paper will be,” Momma says.

“You and Pops always look forward to that sleep over… why are you here?”

Momma lets out a chuckle and says, “Mrs. Lawrence called me this morning and said that you didn’t come home. I couldn’t reach you by phone, so I stopped over to check on you. You weren’t here, and the quiet was so relaxing, I decided to read for a bit. I also made coffee.”

I laugh, knowing I told her this very thing the last time she found me at her house in the middle of the day. It was a bad day and the boys were with Reed here, so I snuck out to get some quiet time.

“Besides, we left Xander’s place last night at nine and the kids ended up staying there,” Momma adds with a smile.

“Xander worked until three this morning and then went home to a house full of kids?” I ask, feeling almost sympathetic. Almost.

After our chat, I walk Momma out to her car and give her a kiss on the cheek. I watch her pull out of the driveway before walking back inside and shutting the door.

The moment I’m alone, my mind automatically wanders to Mia. I wonder what she’s doing, what she’s thinking, and more importantly what she’s feeling about last night. I can’t wait to see her in a little bit at the twin’s birthday party.

Realizing that as much as I loved talking with Mia all night, I am in my thirties and can’t do all-nighters like I used to. Hoping that a shower will wake me up a bit, I walk toward my bedroom and into the master bathroom. I turn on the water, waiting for it to warm up as I undress. Once inside, the hot water feels good against my tired body as I wash and rinse my hair. While washing my body, I can’t stop the image of Mia with her glossy lips, and big sapphire blue eyes from popping into my mind. My cock gives a jump as the vision of her on her knees in front of me plays out. I lose myself in a fantasy of her taking the bodywash and rubbing it slowly all over my abs right down to the V. I can feel her small hands wrapped around my hard cock, stroking me, as she washes off the soap. Leaning forward, she runs just the tip of her hot, pink tongue over my shaft. My balls tighten as I picture her slowly taking me into her mouth inch by inch. My climax hits me so hard that I lean against the shower wall just to keep my legs from buckling while all the pent-up tension releases from my body. What the hell was that? I don’t do stuff like that, I scold myself. I stand there under the water until it starts to get cold. Shutting off the shower, I grab my towel off the rack. My mind is still racing with thoughts of Mia as I dry off and go into my bedroom to get dressed. Throwing on some jeans and a t-shirt, I tell myself that I need to stop thinking about Mia like this. I grab a sweatshirt for myself and head to the boys’ room for their sweatshirts too just in case it’s cold out on the ranch tonight. Every time we head out there, it turns into a bonfire night.

The drive out to Carter and Aubrey’s house is peaceful and gives me a chance to clear the fantasies from my mind before I see Mia again. Carter’s girls are really into horses, so Mia helped Aubrey plan a country-western themed party for them out at Aubrey’s parents’ ranch. Carter thought it would be easier to meet at their place and we’d follow each other out to the ranch. I get to Carter and Aubrey’s place, and my boys come flying into my arms the moment my car door closes.
