Let Go (Suncoast University #1)(6)
Author: Allie Winters

“Hey, what’s your favor?” she called, as I made my way through the throng of people to where Charlotte still danced by herself, moving sensually to the music. I’d explain to Becca later. As I approached my no longer mysterious girl, I let my instincts guide me and took my cue from her, pressing in close behind her, letting the music overtake me. The feel of her against me, her ass brushing against me every time I moved... fuck, I could keep doing this all night.

Which ends up with me getting yelled at, turned on, and standing here alone in the middle of the living room, watching her go into a door on the far side of the apartment. What the hell just happened? She acted as if she knew me, but last week was the first time I ever saw her. She said she had wanted to touch me for ages now. I could smell the alcohol on her breath with how close she had gotten, but she didn’t seem that far gone. Was it the drinks talking or did she somehow know who I was?

I won’t discover any answers out here twiddling my thumbs, so despite her insistence I forget about everything that happened, I head over to the room she went into, wanting to find out more. She had acted hot and cold, but at the very least, seemed attracted to me. I could work with that.

Stopping in the doorway, I look at her standing in front of a bed where two obviously drunk people are sloppily making out, and apparently don’t mind giving a free show at the rate they’re going.

She leans forward, tapping the guy on the shoulder, but quickly hops back and gives a little squeak when he rolls over so the girl is straddling him, still connected at the mouth. Impressive. “Um, excuse me?” she says, a loud feminine moan drowning her out. “Hello,” she tries again. “You’re on my bed. Can you please get out of here?” No reaction, other than the guy fumbling with the girl’s bra clasp. “Come on, let me hide out in my room in peace.”

Neither of them is paying the least bit of attention to her, and I’m about to step forward and help her out when she says, “All right then, you asked for it,” and takes hold of one edge of the comforter and yanks hard. She manages to pull the entire bedspread off the bed and onto the floor, with both of them still on it. As they come out of their haze, she yells, “Get out of here! Go on, get!” and makes shooing motions at them until they finally get the hint and leave, grumbling about the crazy lady as they pass me.

She pulls the comforter off the ground and starts wadding it up into her laundry basket. I can hear her mutter from across the room, “Gross, I don’t even want to sleep here now. I’ll have to wash everything tomorrow. Who knows how many disgusting germs are all over my stuff?”

I smile at her commentary, deciding it’s a good time to announce my presence. “Damn, that was hardcore.”

She whirls around and sees me leaning against the doorframe. “What are you doing here? I told you to forget about everything.” She finally gets the whole blanket in the basket and walks over to me. “How many people do I have to evict out of here tonight?”

I hold up my hands in the air and say, “Hey, I was just trying to help you out. Thought you might need some muscle getting those two out of here.” I chuckle, recalling her struggling to move the comforter and the muffled plop as they hit the floor. “But apparently, you’ve got it all under control.”

She quickly covers her face with her hands. “Oh God, did you see all that?”

“Yeah, and it was a pretty amazing sight to behold. Like I said, hardcore.”

She peeks between her fingers, and I smile at her. She slowly reveals her pink cheeks, opening her mouth to respond when Becca sails into the room. Damn it. Can I just get a moment alone with this girl?

“Charlotte! Are you okay?” she asks, concern on her face. She stumbles and I surge forward to catch her before she faceplants on the floor. “Thank you, sweetie. These heels and shots don’t mix.” She pivots to Charlotte, wavering slightly, and I keep an eye out, afraid her feet will go out from under her any second. “Blake said there was a crazy woman in here yelling and throwing things and they barely made it out of here. She didn’t get you too, did she?”

Charlotte’s eyes bug out and she waves her arms above her head. “Becca, I’m the crazy lady!” She whips around, pulling pillowcases and sheets off the bed in a frenzy. “They’re going to come into my room and make out in here, practically having sex, and then complain about me?” I don’t think she really expects an answer, but she still stops and looks back and forth between us expectantly.

“Oh, I get it,” Becca says slyly. “You two started to get down and dirty on the dance floor and came in here to finish the job, but Blake and Daniella cockblocked you.” Charlotte gapes at her, and I’m stunned as well she would so readily come to that conclusion.

“No, that’s not-,” I begin to deny, but she cuts me off.

“Charlotte, I’m so freaking happy for you! You need to get your mind off all that junk from earlier. Stop worrying about school so much. Luke is hot and looks like he’d be a great hook up.” I’m not sure if I should be complimented or not, but she doesn’t seem to care, continuing on even though neither of us has confirmed anything. “Now, I love Josh and he’s totally yummy, but he’s not really muscular, you know? Luke is so rugged. He’s got that Scott Eastwood vibe going on.” She grabs onto my bicep and tries to wrap her hands around. “I mean, look at his arms, they’re ginormous! He could toss bales of hay on a farm or something.”

I keep to myself that I had done exactly that a few summers ago working on my uncle’s ranch. It’s the second time a woman’s felt me up today, and I have to say, I’m feeling pretty good about all the extra hours I’ve put into the gym in the past year, but I don’t want to feed her farm fantasy about me any more than it’s already grown.

“Or toss you on the bed, that would be so sexy,” she continues, biting her lip, eyes glazing over like she’s acting out the vision in her head. Becca normally has a fairly limited filter, but this is a bit much, even for her. Throw in some shots and it seemingly goes out the window. I glance over at Charlotte and her cheeks are completely red, with a slightly panicked expression on her face.

“Oh my God, Becca!” she shouts. “We are not doing anything in here. I’m not hooking up with him! Or anyone!” She walks over to her closet and pulls out a new set of sheets and throws them on her bed. “Now, I just want to put in my earphones and obsess about how much I’ve embarrassed myself in one night until I pass out, so if you would please leave, that’d be great.” Before I can protest, she ushers us both out of the door and into the living room.

I turn back to say something, anything to stay with her a little longer, when a girl who’s dressed like a straight up hooker bends over and vomits all over Charlotte’s legs and feet. Becca immediately lets out a high-pitched laugh before clapping a hand over her mouth, but we can both still hear her giggling. After all the frustrated shouting I’ve heard from her tonight, I expect Charlotte to let loose and scream, but all she does is set her jaw and says in a controlled voice, “Wonderful, my humiliation is complete. Well, I guess that’s my cue to leave.” She whirls around, flinging chunks onto the floor and wall and steps into the room, slamming the door behind her.
