Awakened by Him(14)
Author: Eyta Jade

I was bewildered by how his proximity and gaze seemed to have me on some kind of mental lock-down. It made me wonder if anyone in the world had been made to feel that way, just by the fiery look of a man who looked too good to be true.

His eyes twitched. Evidently, my words amused him.

With hands in his pocket, he spoke. “Would you like me to inform Amelia of your insistence on refusing my generous transportation service?”

I opened my mouth to say anything, but he was not done.

“Do tell, does the idea of sitting in a car with me petrify you that much, or are you scared of how much it excites you?”

I gulped. He had me hook, line, and sinker because, both were true for me in that moment.

I swallowed, suddenly nervous for a whole new reason. I was going to be in a car with him alone, or maybe with a driver.

“I’ll just drop the rest of this and grab my bag,” I told him, holding the file to my chest like a shield.

We made our way to the ground floor, and as soon as we stepped out of the exit door, the same black Bentley that he left with the first day we met was there waiting, with the chauffeur opening the door in anticipation. Probably having spotted his boss before we got out.

“Mr Clarke.” The man tipped his head in greeting as he opened the door while giving me a polite smile.

Mr Clarke directed with a wave of the hand for me to enter, and when I did, he whispered something into the chauffeur’s ear before joining me.

As soon as the car was on the move, he pressed a button, creating a partition which surprised me.

I knew cars, not owned but knew them to an extent. Just a side fascination, and I knew Bentley Mulsannes had no partitions except…I coughed unconsciously.

“What?” He asked, sensing my curiosity without looking at me.

“You have a partition; this has to be a customize Bentley Mulsanne,” I replied with a shrug that veiled my awe.

He cocked his head to one side, studying my expression. My nervousness that had just started to dissipate came back instantly.

“What?”

He simply gave me what was a ghost of a smile. A smile that disappeared as soon as it came.

He didn’t stop looking at me though. I cut his gaze and turned to look out of the car.

I looked outside to admire my new home—a city that was the bridge between advancing modernisation and a long mixed history of good and bad. Old faded buildings that stood the test of time housed modern spaces. And, that was London for you.

A quick realisation hit. For some reason, I chose to realise only at that moment, that when I met him for the first time, he had probably been there for business, a meeting with his solicitor—Amelia.

With the Bentley that picked him then, I had guessed he was a high calibre person, but business magnate was what Amelia said. He owned multiple companies. Hell, he was about to purchase a multi-billion food corporation.

I was sitting in a car with a billionaire. I should have been fazed, but I wasn’t in the slightest. I was too busy being hyper-aware of the space he consumed sitting beside me. A sinister aura oozed off him, and somehow it felt like a dazzling beam to me.

An Aura of menacing savagery that let me know he would eat me up and spit me out like inferior coffee, and leave me to pick up pieces of my heart.

It was a pain I refused to afford. I could see myself falling for him. An acknowledgement I couldn’t even begin to comprehend. My mind wandered, and I wondered why he rolled up the partition in the first place.

“Do I make you uncomfortable?” He asked out of the blue, having positioned himself to be in a slightly bent and in a slouched position, with a full view of me.

I shook my head in reply, choosing to do that rather than speak.

I was afraid that if I verbally replied, I would tell him I was nervous sitting alone in the back seat of a car. Especially with a man who I wanted but knew I shouldn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t have.

I turned to face him. “Does he know where we’re headed?” I asked, using my head to gesture at the direction of the driver’s seat

“You are. What if I told you I knew how to fix it,” he continued, sticking to his angle of our conversation.

I scoffed, looking outside the window again in dismissal of his angle, and trying hard not to make a conversation out of it.

With a voice so dark, calm, precise, sure, confident, and unaffected, he asked, “tell me, when last have you had a man’s fingers spreading you wide, with you writhing in pleasure?”

I jerked my head to face him, stunned by his blatant audacity. I was more than perplexed at his words, and his insolence. I just about jumped out of my skin. There was no double meaning to his words. He wanted to use cunnilingus to get me comfortable around him.

Oh, I knew for a fact that it was going to work, going by how my body was constantly responding to him in a way that was new to me.

But, that didn’t mean I was going to give him the satisfaction of egging him on. He was a client of my boss and firm. There were rules. There had to be.

However, that did nothing to stop the flood of arousal that wet my knickers.

“Mr Clarke, your driver can hear you,” I reprimanded in a voice that did not seem offended at all. In fact, I sounded a little too wanting.

“He can’t, the partition,” he answered with sly reassurance.

So, I was alone with a man that wanted to do bad things to my girl parts. The PDA shy part of me immediately went to sleep on hearing that.

Chapter 8

I was breathless, hot and bothered; but none of that fazed the Adonis who ignited foreign lust in me. If anything, it encouraged him, and his next words surely proved that.

“Every time you call me that, I twitch in all the right places. And right now is not the time,” Mr Clarke paused, looking pointedly at me, seriousness overt. “Please, call me Nik or Niklaus for my sanity.”

My eyes flew instantly to his fly; it was…hmm. I licked my lips at the sight of the unmistakable bulge.

Clearing my throat and reluctantly re-directing my eyes back to his face, I spoke, remembering why I couldn’t play along to his tune.

“Mr Clarke,” I began pointedly. “I work for the woman who works for you, albeit indirectly but true. The other night thankfully stopped with that tease of a kiss, and it can be given a pass as I wasn’t aware that you are a client. But your words right now are highly inappropriate!” I exclaimed with a sharp inhale of breath, and in a small unconvincing tone.

I glanced out the window, almost considering opening the door and jumping out. I was no doubt on fire in an enclosed space with the person who made me so.

“Surely, you want to be a solicitor someday, so you must know how to keep a secret, hmm?” He asked, rather rhetoric and full of himself.

The truth was, I didn’t know if I wanted to be a solicitor. My brother believed I was doing it for someone else; hence why I took his advice to work as a paralegal for maybe a year, to see if the legal world was for me.

“Mr Clarke, I..I..I..” I was short of words even though I had a lot to say. But in his closeness, my sense of reasoning was unproductive, my thoughts a jumbled mess. I just felt the sensuality of his presence, and the tension in the air had me wound up in knots the best scouts couldn’t untie.

“Cat got your tongue, or are you feeling harassed?” He asked in a way of challenge, like he was sure that was what would get me talking.
