Playing Dirty (The Driven World)(16)
Author: Cheri Marie

“Oh nothing, I just didn’t realize you had such an eclectic palate.”

He smiles his charming, make your panties wet, smile. “You have much to learn about me, sugar tits.”

I roll my eyes at his ridiculous nickname for me just as the waiter arrives. “Hello, my name is Mario and I will be your waiter. Chef Roberto says your food will be up momentarily, but while we wait can I start you off with some drinks?”

Sebastian looks over to me obviously waiting to see what I want to drink. “Can I get a glass of Moscato d’Asti please?”

“Make it a bottle and two glasses please,” Sebastian instructs Mario. The waiter nods and disappears to grab our drinks.

“You drink my favorite wine too?”

He grins. “I didn’t know it was your favorite, but it’s good to know you appreciate the taste of the second-best thing to come out of Italy.”

“Second best? What’s the first?”

“Me,” he says with a wink, causing me to roll my eyes again.

“Did I hear the waiter say food will be ready soon?” I ask him.

“You did. I hope you don’t mind, but I took the liberty of ordering my favorites.”

Before I can respond, Mario is back with our drinks and an entire spread of food, compliments of the Chef. Everything from the most delectable chicken parmigiana to filet mignon to Caviar. My stomach growls as I take a little of everything. Sebastian tips his glass to mine.

“Cheers to the first date of what I’m sure will be many more to come.”

“You have one hell of an ego, Sebastian.” I take a sip of my drink savoring the sweet taste.

He waggles his eyebrows at me. I take a forkful of the chicken and put it into my mouth. “So, tell me more about you?” Sebastian asks digging his own fork into the food.

I swallow my mouthful before I speak. “Well there’s not much to tell honestly. You know where I’ve worked for the last eight years. I love my job as personal assistant to Arianna. I couldn’t ask for a better boss. I love to read, watch movies and drink wine. I’m really boring.”

“I don’t think that. I think you’re wonderful.”

I feel my face flush with heat. “What about you?”

He looks at me. “Me? You mean as a personal assistant you haven’t researched me.”

“You’ve hardly given me time to. Besides I’ve spent the last few days thinking about…” I pause as Lazaro comes to mind. I can’t think about him and spoil this date. Sebastian reaches across the table to clasp my hand in his.

“You want to know about me. Well, I’m a jack of all trades. I’ve dabbled in commercial real estate, I’m a millionaire, race car team owner and now a man falling head of heels for the most beautiful woman I know. Who knew my coming home would be this good?”

We spend the rest of our evening laughing, drinking wine, and I eat way more than I should. The anxiety of it being a first date completely melted away and I’m just… happy. Chef Roberto comes into the room once we are done with the food to catch up with Sebastian.

“Thank you so much Roberto. The food was simply impeccable,” I say, shaking his hand. I mean it the meal was to die for.

“Thank you, Tristan. It was my pleasure to do this for you and Sebastian. I must get back to work. It’s good to see you, Sebastian.”

“Good to see you too, Roberto,” Sebastian says, shaking his hand. Roberto takes my hand, kissing the back of it before disappearing back into the kitchen.

“You ready to go?” Sebastian asks, finishing his glass of wine.

“Sure.” I stand from the table and Sebastian takes my hand, leading me out of the restaurant.

“I had a great time tonight. Thank you for allowing me to take you dinner.”

“I had a great time too. I should… I should probably go now though.” I turn away from him and head for my car when I hear quick footsteps behind me and then he gently grabs my arm.

“I know I said I only wanted to have dinner, but I’m not ready for the night to end yet. Would you maybe want to come back to my hotel? We could continue to drink. I have another bottle of wine in my room. Or we could watch a movie?”

I hesitate for a moment before answering, “Yea, sure. I’ll follow you.”

He smiles. “Great. I’ll see you there then.”

I wait for him to sprint back to his car and pull out to follow him. Pulling into a parking spot outside of the hotel, I sit there for a minute to breathe. What the hell am I doing?

I rest my head against the steering wheel, unsure of whether I should really go up or if I should run like hell and never look back. The thought is fleeting when I look up to see him walking towards my car. His tie hangs loose around his neck, the top two buttons on his dress shirt undone and his sleeves are rolled up to his elbows.

Fuck me.

He looks at me with a smirk. “You coming?”

Not yet.

“Yeah.” I put up the window and lock my car, following along beside him into the hotel.

Stepping into the elevator, the air thickens around us and the image of the elevator scene from Fifty Shades of Grey comes to mind. I bite my lip to keep from moaning at the thought of Sebastian pushing me up against the elevator wall and his lips finding mine again like they did at the bar. I steal a glance at him and he’s staring at me with those sexy as fuck eyes of his again. I’m thankful when the elevator doors slide open.

I follow him down the hallway, my heart beating a little faster with each step towards his room. I take a deep breath, trying to get my hormones under control because right now I’m acting like a bitch in heat.

It’s been months since I’ve had sex. I’m assuming that’s when Lazaro started the affair. I don’t want the details at all, but our sex life took a nosedive months ago, and he’d always tell me he was too tired if I tried to initiate it. Don’t think about that asshole when you’re with a great guy. It’ll ruin the mood.

“Here we are,” he says, tapping the keycard to the reader and pushing the door open.

I step into his room and it’s the typical hotel room setup. Dresser with a TV above it, king size bed with two nightstands. I don’t really know what I was expecting, maybe a giant, elaborate suite big enough to house his ego.

“Why are you staying at a hotel? I thought you were from here. Can’t you stay at your family’s home?” I ask as I walk over and take a seat in the chair in the corner of the room, trying to avoid the bed at all costs.

“I could have, but I need my privacy.”

“Makes sense I guess.” I watch him as he walks about the room, grabbing some clothes out of the dresser.

“I’m going to go change. The remote is right there on the bed if you want to find a movie for us.”

“Actually, can I use the restroom really quick first?” I ask after the sudden urge to pee hits me.

“Yea, sure,” he says, stepping to the side so I can walk past him.

I finish using the bathroom and wash my hands before walking back out into the room. Sebastian is bent over, looking for something in the mini fridge and before I can tell him I’m behind him, he stands and turns to face me. My body collides with his and the sudden connection of bodies touching has us both breathy.
