Omega in the Sand(8)
Author: Aria Grace

The omegas even step up their game, confirming guest identities and registrations at the same time. My security guys are able to check off the lists and focus their attention on double checking bags for contraband.

Of course, we have a few troublemakers. Mostly people trying to smuggle recreational drugs in. We're able to easily separate them from the group and send them to the yacht for a quick trip back to the mainland. For the most part, however, everything goes smoothly. The omegas more than earn their overtime, and everyone is pretty turned on by the whole experience.

Luckily, we have a little down time before the next boat is scheduled to arrive. Otherwise, things might have gotten out of hand.

When the last guest is escorted up to the path to the hotel by one of the scantily clad omegas, I finally take a deep breath. What could've been a potential disaster has actually turned into a major positive. I'm going to talk to Warren about making this a regular thing. I honestly can't believe we didn't think of it before.

My gaze shifts and I catch sight of Isaac walking toward me again. Thankfully, he's putting his robe back on as he approaches. Though, now that I've seen him without it, I can't get the image out of my head. My cock is definitely awake and keenly aware of his presence. There were dozens of omegas prancing around near-naked and none of them made me react as strongly as Isaac did.

Objectively speaking, I don't know why either. It might sound awful to say this, but there's nothing really special about him. In a group of the hottest omegas I've ever seen, he's solidly average. Not the best, or the worst of the group. Yet, I'm entranced. His movements, his body, the way he lifts his eyes to look at me through those long lashes, it all mesmerizes me. I want him in a bad way.

Except, I was kind of an asshole earlier. Being stressed out when he approached me wasn’t his fault, but I took it out on him. He must think I'm just another moronic alpha who only gets results through force.

I clear my throat as he reaches me. "Hey, Isaac. I wanted to thank you. You really saved my ass there."

"That's good." He smiles and gives me a wink. "Because it's a pretty nice ass."

My cheeks flush, and he laughs awkwardly when he realizes he said that out loud.

"I'm sorry. I mean, I'm not. But I shouldn't have said that. So…I'm sorry." He stammers about for a moment and then grimaces. I don't know if he's doing it on purpose or not, but I’ve never found the whole "awkward omega" thing to be cute. If he wants to flirt with me, he needs to own it.

"Anyway." I cut short his rambling with a strong tone. "I need to apologize for the way I was earlier. You had something important to talk about, and I didn't listen. I dropped all my stress on you. Not only did you not freak out at me, you actually solved my problem. So I really do owe you an apology. If you want, we can talk about your problem now. You said it was an emergency. I'm sorry for making you wait."

He chews his lip and looks away from me with his brow deeply furrowed. He scuffs the dock with the toe of his sandal.

"The thing is…" He takes a deep breath and lets his eyes fall closed. When he opens them again, he smiles and looks up at me with a shake of his head. "I wanted to apologize too. Last night, I was a bit flippant with you even though you were just doing your job. So, sorry about that."

He runs a hand through his shaggy hair and grins.

I frown. "That was the 'emergency' that couldn't wait until after you'd finished getting ready for the day?" I don't believe him for a minute, but if that's the route he's decided to take, I'm not going to call him a liar. He's a grown man and can make his own decisions. Whatever the hell they are.

"Well, I mean. You're hot, and I thought maybe I'd ruined my chances with you." He shrugs. "So, this morning, I decided to make up for it by coming down here and apologizing first thing. Good thing I did, too. Right?"

I open my mouth to protest but think better of it. I'm not in the mood to deal with him right now. He's hot, and he's captured the attention of both my brain and my cock, but he's playing coy, and I don't have time for that.

"You still haven't done any of that stuff I asked you about, have you?" I force myself to look away from him. "You've got less than an hour before your shift starts. Get some food. You're already starting to burn a little so put on some sunscreen. Tell your supervisor I want you indoors for the first half of your shift today."

"Don't worry." He grins and lifts his arm to inspect the shading. "I might turn a little pink, but it'll tan. No problem. I never get a full-on burn."

"It's about the customers," I say, avoiding his gaze. "Pink skin doesn't look good to the customers. Avoid the sun, put on some sunscreen or something. Don't let it get any worse."

His expression shifts out of the corner of my eye, but I don't look at him fully. I know I'm being callous and probably going a little over the top, but I don't like being lied to. Besides, this is as much a message to me as it is to him. I don't have time to fool around with coy little omegas. My job demands way too much mental and physical real estate for me to get caught up in mind games and flirting.

"You should get going," I continue. "You're running out of time."

"Has anyone ever told you that you're an asshole?" he asks as he starts to walk away.

"Plenty of times," I retort, glancing in his direction. "You aren’t the first, and you won't be the last."

"Maybe you should look into that," he responds, sneering over his shoulder at me. He stops at the foot of the path. "You might find you have better luck with people."

"I have looked into it." I shrug my shoulders and grin. "I don't need to change a thing. Turns out that people don't hire security guards because of their winning personalities. Now get going."

He grinds his jaw but doesn't throw a parting jab. Instead, he storms up the path with all the fury of a tiny hurricane.

I force myself to laugh, a little too loudly, then look back at the marina.

Once again, I'm alone. I've successfully chased him away. All my security guys have gone off to patrol the resort or flirt with the omegas while they're on break. I'm sure Warren's off rubbing shoulders with the new arrivals. But now, I'm not really in a hurry to rush back up to the main hotel. Not when I know what's waiting for me.

My cock is positively aching with desire, especially now that I've torpedoed my chances of getting laid any time soon. I'm at serious risk of popping a massive erection right here and now if I can't get my mind off Isaac.

Shit. I need to get this out of my system. I'm not going to be able to just will it away. I glance around and confirm I'm alone. Still, I'm not going to do this out in the open. I'd be too paranoid about getting caught. Thankfully, the trees lining the marina are dense and there are plenty of low growing plants to hide in.

Maybe I'm completely losing my mind because I've never done something like this before. Especially not while at work. But I don't hesitate to wander between the trees as I try to lose myself among the plants. It takes me a few minutes before I'm certain I'm sheltered from all angles. No one ever comes this way, so I should be safe from foot traffic.
