Spark (The Hellfire Quartet Book 1)(15)
Author: Cynthia Dane

Not anymore.

She was out of breath. Too breathless to cry out when her body climaxed once again, this time with the ever-present stimulus of something inside of her. All Amelia could do was twist her face in ecstasy and slam down her hips until Bree took the hint to hold them there. She thrust upward, hard, slamming into Amelia and letting out her own sound of incredulous mirth. The small room widened, allowing all of Amelia’s pain, fears, and traumas to escape into the air vents and crawl beneath the door.

Every inch of her skin was alive. She felt every strand of hair on her head and was aware of her nails expanding into the air around her. Even when climax subsided, taking with it the wherewithal to withstand orgasmic sensitivity, Amelia remained surrendered to this newfound clarity that whispered in her ear.

Or, perhaps, that was Bree, who sat up and wrapped her arms around Amelia, face between her breasts.

“You are everything I hoped you would be.” Those words made Amelia sag against her binds. Finally, she could relax again, no matter how tired her arms now became. “How about me, hm?” Bree unknotted the silk around Amelia’s wrists. Her arms collapsed around Bree’s shoulders, and the two of them rocked together in unexpected, thrilling bliss.

Amelia tried to speak, but all that came was a drunken laugh.

“I’ll take that as a compliment.” Bree fell backward, bringing Amelia with her. “I’ll take you, too.”

Amelia happily fell with her.

Chapter 7

BREE

The locker shut with more force than intended. Bree winced, hand running through her wet hair. Her fingers smelled of soap and disinfectant. The unsexy side of a hookup in a sex club.

She intended to spend as much time with Amelia as possible, basking in the afterglow of a successful union of their mere bodies. Yet the time had gone by too quickly. Didn’t help that Bree succumbed to the fatigue that came along with such vigorous lovemaking. Half the things they did? She hadn’t anticipated when she walked into that room where Amelia unknowingly awaited her. She was everything I wanted. Fuck, I forgot to get her number. When Bree awoke from her doze, Amelia had been curled in her arms, unresponsive. Not until Bree unhooked their bodies and began looking for her clothing did Amelia open her eyes, still covered by her mask.

It was the unfortunate side to these things. They might meet again one night. Perhaps in the near future, where Bree would openly buy her a drink and invite her to dance before they took the party to a couch – or a room. Next time, Bree would remember to get her damned number. Amelia was a woman worth taking out to the movies or a fancy restaurant. Or to my house.

Sighing, she exited the locker room after making sure she had everything she entered with. The club was winding down for the evening, although a few people remained at the bar or hanging out on couches. Tipsy couples stumbled out, arms wrapped around one another. Bree didn’t usually get jealous, let alone after scoring for herself, but she paused on her way out the door. Something felt… empty.

The LA night was warm enough to wait near the bouncer for her rideshare – that she had yet to order. She didn’t risk taking out her phone until she was far on the other side of the outdoor waiting area. The line to get inside was nonexistent this late. Cars pulled up from the valet or from Ubers taking clubbers homes. Bree kept her head bowed over her phone as she opened the Uber app.

She nearly bumped into the woman closest to the bouncer.

“Excuse…” Bree jerked up, heart fluttering when she recognized Amelia without her mask and hair down. Those blond tendrils curled delightfully around her face of sensible makeup and a little eyeliner. A stylish yet conservative coat covered lingerie. She was positively plain compared to how she looked inside the club.

Bree was only more entrapped.

“Hey.” Bree pressed her phone screen against her chest. Amelia looked up from her own phone, but didn’t put it away. “Fancy seeing you out here. Waiting for a ride?”

“Yes. My Uber should be here in a few minutes.” Amelia’s smile illuminated their dark corner of the sidewalk. “Are you going home?”

Bree nodded, keeping a respectful distance while fulfilling her wishes to see those eyelashes bat in her direction. “I haven’t called a ride yet, though.” She attempted to scratch the back of her head, but had forgotten her phone was still in her hand. The whole thing almost fell to the ground, and Bree had to snap into high-reflex mode to catch it before the screen shattered on the Downtown LA sidewalk. “Uh… sorry. This is the real me, I guess. Kinda clumsy.”

“Especially with a pretty girl in front of you?”

Bree snorted. “You think you’re making this easier for me, but you’re only coming off as the perfect woman. Definitely more nervous. I don’t wanna blow this.”

Amelia lowered her phone to her waist, covering it with both hands. “Oh?”

“I mean… you could… maybe… if you’re into it…” Ask for her number, damnit. But that wasn’t enough for Bree. She wanted more than Amelia’s number.

She wanted Amelia.

“Come back to my place with me.” There! She said it! “I’ve got this amazing bottle of wine I opened last night, and more toys than you saw in my bag.”

Amelia was thoughtfully quiet for a second, her teeth tugging at her bottom lip like it was about to run away and kiss Bree. “Except I’ve already called for my ride. If I cancel, I get charged.”

“Oh. Right.”

“So…” Amelia glanced at her phone again. “Guess that means you have to come over to my place… ma’am.”

That hit Bree right in the gut. “Besides your ride already on his way,” she said with faux-machismo, the kind that made her put her hands on her hips and puff out her chest, “what’s your place got that mine doesn’t?”

“A sunken bathtub and a view of the Pacific Ocean from Santa Monica?” Amelia stepped forward, close enough to touch, but too far to reach. “I mean a full view,” she purred. “You can see the waves lapping and the sun setting while you bathe in my bathroom.”

Bree couldn’t help it. She had to say, “Good thing the sun is already down, then. We’re going to be too busy in that tub to watch it.”

Naturally, she went home with Amelia, crashing their lips together while the driver did a double-take and proceeded to politely ignore them the whole drive to Santa Monica. Bree didn’t get a great look of the view from Amelia’s condo, but it didn’t matter. There were plenty more opportunities in the near future – and beyond.
