Spark (The Hellfire Quartet Book 1)(10)
Author: Cynthia Dane

“Let’s say I have some experience with women who are very attracted to the submissive life. Could say I’ve dated more than a few.”

“Are you…” Amelia cocked her head. She didn’t want to offend Bree by saying it, but she didn’t really come across as the kind of Domme Amelia was used to meeting in Hellfire and beyond. She didn’t reek of complexes and a driving need to prove to the world that she could control as well as any of the boys. That wasn’t to knock on the Dommes Bree had met over the years, but she wasn’t really attracted to them, femme or masculine. Bree had such a soft side to her that Amelia had initially taken her as a more vanilla butch lesbian and nothing more. Which she would have been find with, but it wasn’t what she sought.

“I don’t make a life out of it, if that’s what you’re asking,” Bree said, “but I know what I’m doing. I prefer for the pure kink to be kept to the bedroom. I’m not shy about stuff in the club, though. It’s kinda like a big bedroom. I mean, I might as well be okay with it. I’ve taken a few girls for a spin in the fishbowl.” She referred to the room on the second floor, where a couple could get busy beneath ultraviolet lights while spectators watched through windows on three sides. Been in there a time or two myself. Why was it sweet to think that she and Bree had both made love to people in the same room? Rather strange, when Amelia considered it, but she couldn’t say no to the image now swimming in her head.

“What about at home?” Amelia asked.

“If you’re asking if I can provide what a full-time submissive is looking for…” Bree leaned forward, hands clutching the arms of her old, upholstered chair. “Then… yes.”

She purred that word. Not a hiss. A purr. A hiss would have been arousing, too, but the purr went straight to Amelia’s heart.

“Your nipples.”

Bemused, Amelia jerked back. “Excuse me?”

Bree reached her finger, but didn’t quite touch Amelia’s touch. “When I said that, your nipples got hard.”

Amelia looked down. Sure enough, there were two happy nipples saying hello through the black silk and lace of her negligee. Okay. This is happening, I guess. She shifted her weight between her thighs. Was she wet already? She couldn’t tell, but she wouldn’t be surprised. The whole night had felt like foreplay, and that was before she even met Bree.

“Sorry.” Bree pulled her hand back again. “Let’s say that my style is more… sublime. Subdued? Subconscious. Let’s go with that.”

“You said ‘sub’ three times in a row.”

“Oh, did I?” Bree scratched the back of her head, as if she had something to be sheepish about. “You caught me. Putting thoughts into your head. That’s what I’m doing right now.”

“I mean… we have all the time in the world. Until the club closes, anyway. We don’t have to be in a hurry…” Amelia’s voice trailed off. She wouldn’t mind speeding things up, though. Bree was cute. They could do this. She simply needed to take some control. Tell Amelia what they were doing, how, and for how long.

“I think you might like this to go a little faster, though.”

Amelia bit her lip, hands folding into her lap. “You’re the kind of woman who runs purely on energy. You don’t need to put someone on a leash to make the whole world know that she’s yours.”

“Do you like that?”

So she wasn’t going to deny it? “What do you think I like?”

“From knowing you for five minutes?” Bree took Amelia’s hand. For their first touch, it wasn’t so bad. A little sweaty. My nerves. They’re on fire right now. Anxiety, trepidation, excitement… a Molotov cocktail of feelings. “I think you like whatever feels good in the moment. For the most part, though, you like to feel like the only woman in the room.”

“Close,” Amelia whispered, allowing the excitement to light her whole body on metaphorical fire. “More like the whole world.”

She couldn’t say it without grinning like she had won the lottery. Maybe I won the key party lottery. If only she could ask her one final question that had been burning in her brain since Bree walked into the room.

“Are you… a lesbian, Ms. Bree?”

“Gee, what gave me away?” Bree’s fingers curled around Amelia’s. Already, she felt like she was wrapped in a loving blanket. “I’m guessing you’re not.”

“What gave me away?” Amelia repeated. “Talking about my ex-husband?”

“I know it’s a silly question to ask, since they paired me with you and all,” Bree said, “but did you put down you wanted to be with a woman tonight?”

“I… was open to almost anything.” Amelia glanced away. Looking Bree in the eye meant saying the embarrassing things she carried in her heart out loud to someone’s face, and she wasn’t yet ready for that. “To be honest, I’m not that picky about the gender of my partners. All I really want is to have a good time, and maybe forget some of the shit I’ve been through these past few years.”

Bree was silent for a second. Then, “I can give you that.”

Amelia squeezed the hand wrapped within hers. “Then what are you waiting for? You already brought me a drink. What’s in the bag? What else did you bring me, Ms. Bree?”

“First of all…” Bree unhooked her hand. Probably to put both of hers on her hips as she stood up and shadowed Amelia, who fell back on her elbows with a gasp in her throat. “I’ll show you what’s in the bag when you’re good and ready. Second…” Her reckless grin tickled Amelia’s cheeks. They hadn’t even kissed yet, and Amelia could easily imagine what it was like to have those heavenly lips touch her tender flesh. “Ms. Bree sounds so awkward. You know what a happy middle ground would be, sweet lady Amelia?”

The words hardly came out when Amelia was so ready to get this show on the road. “No?”

Bree’s lips were so close now that Amelia could smell her minty breath. “A good ‘ma’am’ gets the job done.”

Amelia stretched her smile from ear to ear. “Yes, ma’am.”

It felt good to say that. Almost as good as the kiss soon crashing upon her lonely lips.

Chapter 5

BREE

She didn’t know how she kept her composure for so long. From the moment she walked into room 307, she was in love.

No, I’m not in love. That’s fucking silly. How can I be in love with someone I’ve spoken a total of thirty words to in about ten minutes? Never mind had only first met that night. “Love at first sight” was for the movies. It only meant lust, really. Nobody actually met their future wife with one look, one simple conversation that had conveyed so much information in so few words.

Right?

Yet when she first touched Amelia, the intoxicating woman in a pair of bunny ears, Bree almost lost control. She was both making love to someone she had known her whole life, and someone she had only first met that night. Keep it together. Remember the truth. You’ve never met her before. Maybe they had met in a previous life. Except Bree didn’t believe in past lives. She only believed in the now, and hoping for the future.
