“Emma,” Rex stroked the unbruised side of my face.

I looked up at him, hoping that my eyes could tell him what I couldn’t voice. He smiled and leaned down to whisper in my ear.

“I love you, Emma.”

As soon as the words I love you came out of my mouth, I knew that I meant them. I didn’t know how it had happened, but somehow, I had fallen in love with Emma. When I saw that gun pointed at her, I knew that if something happened to her, my life would end.

Standing, I pulled Emma up off the ground and looked at Mack.

“You see a patch?” I asked.

“Las Balas,” he growled.

“Call Ryder and update him,” I muttered. “I need to get Emma home. I think she is in shock,” I glanced at Rose, who didn’t look much better than Emma. “And make sure Rose gets home safely.”

Mack nodded. Grabbing Emma’s hand, I led her over to my bike and pulled out an extra helmet, strapping it on her. She clambered onto the bike behind me, holding onto me with a death grip. She gave me directions to her apartment. It didn’t take long for me to get there and get her upstairs. I sat her down on the edge of her bed and held her hand.

“Em,” I said, catching her gaze. “Are you okay?”

“I love you, too,” she whispered. “And it scares me because I don’t want to get hurt.”

I smiled and kissed her, taking care to be gentle. “I will never hurt you.”

“But you’re leaving soon.”

“Come with me,” I said, resting my forehead on hers. “Leave this place and come with me.”

She hesitated. It felt like an eternity before she finally nodded, smiling.

“I’ll go with you,” she whispered. “But first, I want what your eyes have been promising me since the night we met.”

She slipped her hands under my shirt and pulled it over my head, dropping it to the floor. She traced my skull tattoo with her fingers. When she got to my collar bone, I caught her fingers, kissing each one. I used my other hand to unbutton her shirt, keeping my gaze on hers as I slowly released each button.

I kissed her, claiming her mouth. She responded by slipping her tongue in my mouth and nipping at my bottom lip. It didn’t take long to get the rest of her clothes off. Reaching behind her, I pulled her hair tie out of her hair, letting the silver locks flow down her shoulders and back. She was so beautiful. Pushing her back against the pillows, I trailed kisses down the side of her face and neck until I got to her breasts. I sucked one of her nipples into my mouth, rolling the little bud between my lips. I took the other nipple in between my finger and thumb, tweaking and pinching it until she was panting and writhing under me.

“Rex,” she breathed. “Oh god, Rex!”

Releasing her nipple, I shed my own jeans and underwear, releasing my throbbing cock. I pulled her into a sitting position and climbed behind her, reaching around to pinch and roll her nipples.

“I’m going to fuck you, Emma.”

“Oh, yes, Rex!”

Reaching down, I slid my finger in between her wet folds and fondled her clit while I licked and sucked her neck. When she began moving on my fingers, I turned her around to face me. With a hiss of pleasure, I lowered her tight pussy onto my cock.

“Ride me,” I growled in her ear.

Placing her hands on my shoulder, she lifted her hips up and down as she rode my cock, slowly at first and then faster as the pleasure intensified. I buried my hands in her pale locks, pulling her head down into a deep kiss.

“Oh, Rex!” she moaned. “I need you deeper!”

I pushed her onto her back and lifted her legs over my shoulder, I thrust into her, slowly at first then faster and faster. She moaned and took one of my fingers in her mouth, sucking hard on it, her eyes never leaving mine. I pumped harder into her until I felt her shudder and her pussy clenched down on my cock milking it as her body contracted in a climax. I thrust faster and harder, my own pleasure exploding behind my eyes.

I laid there for a few minutes bracing myself over her before rolling to the side and pulling her into my arms. Club business was taken care of. Las Balas would answer for what they did tonight. And the woman I loved was going to travel the world with me. This was the life I had always dreamed of. This was a life worth fighting for.

Epilogue

I took one final look at my now empty apartment before closing the door firmly on that chapter of my life. Hoisting my backpack on my shoulder, I made my way down the stairs towards Rex and the next chapter. The morning after our first night together, he had asked me to go with him to Oregon. I had only hesitated a moment before saying yes. There was nothing here in Seattle for me, and the fears I once had were all but extinguished.

Rex had proven that he would die to protect me by jumping in front of that bullet. That was all the comfort and safety I needed. And I now had no doubt that I was completely and fully in love with him. The thought of him leaving without me was just too much to bear.

It had taken only a few hours to gather up my few belongings and load them into the band’s van. After that, I had just needed a few moments to say goodbye to my life here.

Rex met me at the bottom of the stairs. Grabbing my backpack off my shoulders, he kissed my forehead and led me outside. Martin and Rose were waiting right outside with Coyote, Chase, and Mack next to the van.

I smiled at Martin. After Theo got arrested, Hank tried to give me trouble, and Martin had laid him flat. Soon after that, Hank had suffered a loss of material at his auto shop that forced him to sell the diner to Martin.

Rex had told me what exactly happened to the missing auto parts when he explained about the less than legal activities he and his brothers participated in. He told me he was nervous that it would scare me away, but I found that I didn’t really care.

I grew up in a world where crime was violent and cruel. To see a group of men using crime to help others and not hurt those who didn’t deserve it was more than a relief than a reason for fear. I wasn’t naive enough to think that they didn’t hurt people, and I knew that innocents might also get hurt, but at least they tried to do what was right. And they lived by a code. That was enough for me.

Rose bounded up to give me a hug, wrapping her arms around me tightly.

“You found a good one,” she whispered, giving me a wink.

I smiled and hugged her back. “I’ll miss you,” I told her quietly.

I looked over at Martin. He extended his arms, and I flew into them, hugging him tightly.

“You are the father I always wished I had,” I told him, my eyes tearing up.

“You keep in touch with me, then,” he replied gruffly. “And be safe.”

He gave Rex a meaningful look. Rex nodded solemnly, giving Martin a silent promise to keep me safe and treat me well. My heart soared.

With one final look at my old apartment building, I followed Rex to his bike and hopped up behind him. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I inhaled his scent and relaxed against him. He kicked the bike into a roar, and the vibrations thrummed through my whole being. The adventure of the open road was calling us. Smiling, I closed my eyes and laid my cheek against Rex’s leather-clad back, excited to answer that call.
