Dragon Dad's Mate (Dragon Dads Love Chronicles)(16)
Author: Amelia Wilson

That was not a name Cain expected to hear in this moment. “What about him?”

“He could come down stairs and this is not something he needs to be seeing.” She pushed him further and scooted up on the couch.

“What do you suggest then?”

She laughed at his obvious discomfort. “You do have a room here, yeah?”

He growled, and pulled her waist toward him. He nipped at her lip. “Yes,” he growled.

Keeping her close, they found his bedroom. They stood before the bed, drinking each other in, slowly stripping each other with their eyes before they took their clothes off with their hands. Cain was the first to step forward, to worship her body as he slipped her clothes off.

His fingers were light as they danced along her skin raising goosebumps along her flesh. Forgetting the rough passion from earlier, he wanted to take this slow. He trailed kisses down her arm and traced the tops of each breast.

Small gasps and moans escaped from her lips, encouraging him to go lower. He lowered her onto the bed, and was possessed with desire as he finally saw her legs. He kissed the bottom of her feet and up her legs, to the precious tenderness between her thighs.

She writhed beneath him, and he growled against the tender skin of her inner thighs. “Mine,” he said. He looked up at Nora and repeated himself, “You are all mine.”

“Yes,” she breathed, desperate for more.

The night was fire, bright and hot, with pressures of cool kisses and cold breath blown from Cain. He found every spot that triggered responses from Nora, and he reveled in teasing each one.

When they were both tired of games and getting to know each other’s bodies, they joined themself as closely as they could. Breathing deeply and together, moving in time with the rhythms they set for themselves. The communication between their bodies was all Cain needed to confirm they were mates.

With the feather touch of his fingers on her skin, he knew exactly what her body was craving and he knew how to give it to her. This was more than magic, it was a miracle. She was a blessing and he was ready to worship her.

Every thrust was a prayer and, when their bodies finally shuddered together, he knew they had been answered.

Chapter 10 - Nora

Morning came way too quickly. Nora stretched out and cuddled in closer to Cain’s naked form beside her. Last night had been indescribable, and she hated the idea of leaving to go to work.

A glance at the clock on the nightstand told her it was only five-thirty in the morning. It was still way too early to get to the school, but if she started getting ready now, she could run and get that blueberry coffee she loved so much.

Just thinking about it made her smile and stretch again to wake up and go. She raised her arms and arched her back, almost groaning in pleasure at how great it felt to awaken her sleeping muscles. Before she could sit up, Cain tightened his arms around her, and pulled her closer.

She laughed, astonished by how much she wanted it.

Then have it, Cain thought, as he rolled over and through bleary morning eyes, gazed down on Nora.

The weight of him on top of her caught her breath. Her eyes widened as she felt him grow against her. They had been going all night, except for the past few hours they were able to sleep.

Might not be blueberry coffee, but just as good. Cain bent his head to kiss her neck, but Nora sat up quickly, eyes wide with something other than astonishment. “What?” Cain asked, confused.

“How did you know about the blueberry coffee, I never said it out loud?” The corner of Cain’s mouth twitched up in amusement. Nora’s hand flew to her mouth.

“Neither did I.” Cain said, nearly confirming her thoughts.

“How is that possible? How can I hear you think?”

Cain shrugged his shoulders. “There’s a dragon mind speak that works like a private chat room. Perhaps, because you are my mate, and we have sealed ourselves together, we also have our own private chat room, so to say.”

Cain moved in again, and started kissing down her neck, but she hardly noticed as she tried to understand what it meant to be his mate. She pushed his shoulder and said, “No, no. I need to get ready.”

“You don’t have any clothes here,” he said as an excuse, continuing to pepper her skin with fervent love.

“But you do. Throw on a shirt and slap a belt on. Voila, a dress.”

She kissed his cheek and slid out of the bed. She quickly showered and dressed in a dark-green suit shirt that reached to the top of her knees. With a brown belt on the furthest hole hanging on her hips, she looked well enough to go about her day.

“I’ll drive you today,” Cain said, still sitting in the bed waiting for her to come out so he could watch her move.

“No, I’ll use my own car. I want to get coffee, and there’s no need for you to leave Ashton to breakfast on his own.” Nora rifled through her bag to make sure she had everything.

“He eats breakfast by himself all the time.”

“I’m sure he does, but eating only dinner with him is not enough, Cain. Sit with him at breakfast, ask him what he plans to do for the day, and encourage him to do well. That can change the world.”

Even though they were mates now, Nora wasn’t going to give up on helping Ashton. If anything, it was even more important that Cain becomes a better dad.

“I told you, he’s a dragon and his behavior is normal.”

“As a dragon it’s normal.” Nora put her hands on her hips and was ready to stare Cain down, but when she looked at him he wore a lopsided grin, enjoying egging her on. She moved forward, and placed her hands on his face and said, “But as a boy, it is not.”

She kissed him softly, to say goodbye. “You know the difference and keep it tempered from what I’ve seen. Start teaching him to do the same.”

The drive to the coffee shop was quiet. She didn’t turn on the radio or think much. The world felt more normal than it had in weeks. That was strange, since her world had actually become less normal since Monday.

She wasn’t upset though. She didn’t want to change a thing, except for the threats. Life would be absolutely perfect, if she didn’t have those threats hanging over her head every day.

While she was waiting for her coffee, Nora looked around the little shop and saw June sitting in the corner eating a cream cheese bagel. She walked over to say hi.

“Oh, hi!” June said, a smile breaking out on her face. “It’s nice to see you.”

“You too,” Nora said. “I wouldn’t expect to see you here.”

June’s cheeks turned rosy. “Since we met here a few days ago, I kind of fell in love with it and wanted to return as quickly as possible.”

“Well, good. It’s my favorite place, so maybe we’ll get to see each other more often.”

“Maybe,” June said. “Oh, have you read my letter?”

Nora dropped her face in her hands. “I forgot again. I’ve been so busy with things, that it keeps escaping my mind.”

June waved her hand. “Don’t worry about it. Read it whenever you can.”

“I will.” Nora reached across to grab June’s hand. “I promise I will read it today and get back to you about it.”

June laughed. “Okay. I’ll hold you to that come Monday.”
