Wolf Shield(13)
Author: C.D. Gorri

Her orgasm grew and grew, coursing through her until she screamed with it. The spasms caused her channel to squeeze him tightly. It wouldn’t be long till he followed her lead into sweet oblivion, but he had to claim her first.

Storm thrust once, twice, three times, until her moans reached crescendo. Then he struck with his Wolf’s fangs. He bit down on that tender place between her neck and shoulder, slicing through her soft skin like butter.

The Wolf inside him howled, demanding blood and he swallowed down her life’s fluid greedily, sealing the bond the Fates had begun between them. He sealed the wound with his saliva tossing his head back. Storm’s triumphant howl was met with her own scream of completion as another wave of bliss washed over them both.

Exhausted and overwhelmed no doubt, his mate’s eyes drifted closed. Finally, the beast within him seemed to cease his snarling and Storm tugged her closer, wrapping her soft form in his arms.

Power pulsed through his body and he felt those same changes that had taken place during the battle earlier that night take shape inside of him. Their matebond thrummed in his ears.

He could already feel his Shifter strength working to heal her from her attack. His Wolf’s saliva would clean her blood of the venom from that Lizard fuck who dared hurt her. His claiming bite might have other side effects, but it was too early to tell. At the very least she should get some of the benefits of his kind.

She was his now and that was enough of a benefit for him. He had never felt more whole. A Guardian’s true mate was a rare thing, he knew and understood that. Storm thanked the Fates for the gift of her and for the added strength that would help him protect her. What had she called it? Blinking. He smiled at the memory.

His newfound powers would allow him to call upon deeper magic than he ever had before. It was like blinking, he thought, the way he moved during the fight. The black smoke that had whirled around him was as if made from the shadows themselves, and now, he had the ability to move through them or between them as it were.

The other surprise benefit were the whirls of blue energy that he’d always called upon to aid him in shifting between shapes. Only now, that energy was tangible, making his punches and kicks that much more powerful in battle.

Yes, he liked the increase in strength. He would use it to keep his nushe safe. Odd how that word flowed so easily when he spoke to her. His grandfather was only a quarter Lenape, but he still had Native American blood and the term of endearment was perfect for his mate. His beloved nushe. The woman who now owned his heart. Storm exhaled.

“Rest now, nushe,” he said and draped a sheet over them both.

He listened to her steady breathing until he felt himself drifting off beside her. It didn’t matter what his leader had said. Fergie was his now.

His to love and his to shield.

Chapter 8

Talk about Déjà vu, she blinked slowly and took in her strange surroundings. Okay, not as strange as the first time around, she snorted then covered her mouth and looked at the huge sleeping male next to her.

OMG. Fergie could not believe what she’d done. Holy shit. She’d had dirty, muff-diving, mind-blowing sex with a complete fucking stranger.

She kept her hands over her mouth and nose to stop from snorting again at her ridiculous thoughts. But yeah, he was literally a fucking stranger, cause, hello, she so tapped that fine ass of his. Score one for fluffy chicks everywhere! And she’d barely even spoken to the gorgeous hunk of man.

Dang. She shook her head. Bad jokes aside, she had to get out of there. There was such a thing as wearing out one’s welcome.

Besides, Fergie needed to think. Now that the body was finally satisfied, because again let’s face it, the second she’d seen the guy her ovaries basically exploded. She was like one huge hormone. And that was putting it mildly.

Yeah, she needed to try and put together the pieces of what had happened over the last twenty-four hours. Regretfully, she slid out from under her lover’s arm careful not to wake him. Good thing he was a heavy sleeper.

He exhaled a deep breath and turned onto his side giving her a splendid view of his nibble-worthy glutes. And, she noted with pleasure, he did not snore.

God he was cute. His thick glossy curls were deliciously mussed, and the hard slash of his mouth was more relaxed in sleep. He looked good enough to eat. Definitely good enough for round two.

No, bad girl! She scolded herself and inched across the floor. Crap. She was buck ass naked and her clothes were torn. She couldn’t even look at her heels. What was she going to do?

Good thing the man whose bones she’d oh-so-willingly jumped was a certifiable giant otherwise it might be difficult for her chubby ass to sneak out and commence with her well-deserved walk of shame.

Fergie opened the bottom drawer of a sleek black dresser and peeked inside. Score two for her! She grabbed a pair of clean sweatpants and a matching black hoodie and shrugged into them. Carefully, she snagged her scuffed and broken heels, because maybe there was a shoe repair service that could work miracles somewhere out there. Positive attitude and delightfully sore body intact, she inched out the door.

“Shit,” she whispered and leaned against the wall in the hallway.

Where the fuck was she? The hallway looked a little like that dungeon room at that medieval tournament dining place she’d gone to for her twelfth birthday. Stone walls were decorated with rich tapestries and gleaming weapons. The occasional piece of sports memorabilia among them.

Okay, so maybe Hudson was some kind of rich eccentric. Fergie didn’t know, and truthfully, she didn’t care. She wanted to be gone before tall, dark, and sexy woke up.

Having to witness the moment he realized he’d been high off the adrenaline from the fight, and that was the only reason he’d fallen into bed with a plump little ginger from the other side of the tracks was not on her to-do list.

Fergie tiptoed down the impossibly long hallway. At least there was a long plush runner along the undoubtedly cold stone floors, she thought as she continued barefoot on her way towards what she could only hope was a kitchen and a telephone. Ooh, and a bathroom.

She should’ve checked for one of those first, she supposed. Of course, now that she’d thought about it, the need to tinkle was all she could focus on.

Ugh. Pressing her legs tightly together, she hurried down the hall until she came to a right turn, which she followed quickly. Finally, she saw a door similar to her, uh, to Hudson’s room and she tried the handle.

Unlocked. Thank heavens, she thought as she listened to the satisfying click of the knob before pushing it in.

“Please be a bathroom,” she whispered as she looked into the room.

Soft light filled the space from a tall lamp in the far corner. Crap. It was another bedroom. It took a moment for her to adjust to the dimness, and even when she did, Fergie was still unprepared for the shock of what waited inside.

Her eyes widened and she bit back a scream as she took in the huge black panther in the center of the room. Glossy fur, glowing pink eyes, and humungous teeth. The animals claws clicked on the wood floor as it stepped closer to where she was standing. Her pulse sped up and the big cat turned and hissed at Fergie.

“Oh fuck,” she whimpered, and took a step back, but the big kitty didn’t like that. Not one bit.

It advanced on Fergie, slinking across the room one step at a time. She kept moving until her back hit the wall and the snarling, growling beast continued to close in on her. It pressed forward until it’s dripping fangs were the only thing she could see.
