Possessive New Boss (Possessive Billionaire Bosses #1)(12)
Author: Flora Madison

And damn, look at that ass.

He turns around, and I have to avert my eyes to avoid getting caught. He shouts something about the cars, but I have no idea what he’s talking about.

I know that I should keep my eyes off of Hawk. Especially if he’s going to be my boss. I should probably run for the hills right now considering the things he’s doing to my body with just a glance.

We reach a tiny glass office with a small desk and about ten clipboards fastened to the wall. I’m immediately thrilled to be back in cool air. I sit in the chair across from him. These tight corridors are cozy to say the least. “So, clearly you’re a persistent woman with drive and past accomplishments.” He says, as he sits.

Once he’s (almost) eye level with me, he licks his full lips. His trimmed beard only accentuates his rugged good looks. “Why are you here?” I open my mouth to speak, but he course-corrects. “In town. You’re a city girl, no doubt. So what brings you to this part of Wisconsin?” I don’t know if I should lie or just put it all out there. Maybe a combination of both will suffice?

“Well,” I say, sitting up extra straight in my chair. “I am tired of living the fast pace of the city.” (Truth.) “I’ve been living there for a long time and find small towns charming and quaint.” (Also, truth.) “The company I was working for wasn’t really for me.” (Lie.) “And I didn’t really get along with my boss.” (Gigantic lie. But, in the end, truth.)

Hawk furrows his brow at me. “So, why did you leave?”

“I had to.” (Truth. Perhaps too much truth.) “Because it was no longer the right fit.” (Partial truth, but again—mostly a lie.)

“Why should I hire you?”

“That’s a very blatant and respectful question.” I say, taking a deep breath. “Because I’m dedicated. I get all of my work done, and then some. I’m loyal.” My eyes flicker down to the desk. “To a fault.”

All of this is true. In fact, it’s the reason I had to leave my old job. I was sleeping with my boss, Jeremy. I had no idea he was married—he failed to mention it for almost an entire year—and when his wife found out about us, she insisted on me being fired. No backpay, no severance, nothing. Jeremy, however, got a promotion a mere week after I left.

“So.” I say clapping my hands in front of my chest. “That’s why I feel I’d be a great fit here at…” I scan the room in desperation. The letterhead on the clipboards pinned to the wall saves me. Saviors! “Savior’s Auto Shop.”
