Freak (Royal Devils MC #3)(13)
Author: Erin Trejo

“Blue.”

“What color do you hate the most?”

“Pink.” He chuckles, and I can feel it vibrating through my entire body.

“Not a girly girl, are you?” I shake my head as his lips slowly caress the flesh on my neck. Bumps race over my skin as I suck in a breath.

“I don’t like normal girl things,” I admit. He nods, his lips still skating over my flesh.

“Nah, you don’t. I can see that much about you just lookin’ at you. You like darkness and skulls, yeah?” I nod my head, knowing that he has me pegged there.

“Sugar skulls,” I whisper. I keep my eyes tightly closed.

“Yeah? Those Day of the Dead type skulls?”

“Yeah.”

“I got a friend that paints those by hand. We’ll have to get you one after all this shit is over,” he says, taking me by surprise. I feel him nod but I don’t look to see what he’s nodding at.

“You keepin’ your eyes closed for me?” he asks in a low tone. My body heats from the inside out just from listening to the sound of his voice.

“Yeah. Freak?”

“Yeah, darlin’?”

“Do you think… you could maybe take me home when this is over,” I ask, not knowing why the hell I’m asking. Oh yes, I do. I can’t drive! I don’t think I’ll be able to walk when this is over.

“Did you think I was lettin’ you go alone?” He chuckles against my ear. “I think you owe me for time spent here, don’t you?” I know he’s teasing me; I can hear it in his tone but shit, that doesn’t stop what I feel inside.

“I told you I killed someone,” I whisper. I hear Reggie snort a laugh, but I keep my eyes tightly closed.

“Do you know how fuckin’ hard that makes me?” I can feel him. I didn’t want to, but I do. His cock is rock solid pressing into me from behind. Before I have the chance to respond, I feel the box move. My heart starts racing a million miles a minute. I feel like I might pass out at any second. Freak must be able to feel it too.

“Reggie’s gonna move the box okay? Don’t you worry, I got you.” His words play over and over in my head. I got you. I got you. And when I feel the box lifted from my hands, I’ve never been more thankful that someone had me.

The adrenaline crash for her was killer. Reggie no more than moved the box, and I was catching her body in my arms. Now I have her cradled to my chest wondering what the hell I’m supposed to do with her. Preacher laughs, Reggie studies the bomb, Switch is off doing whatever the fuck he does, and Grave is staring me down.

“What?” I growl when I’ve finally had enough of him.

“Not a damn thing. You stepped up for that girl when you could have been blown to hell,” he reminds me as if I don’t already know what I did.

“And?”

“And she’s a rival.”

“That we’re friendly with,” I say with a smirk.

“Freak, don’t do that shit. You think fuckin’ another man’s old lady is okay? Just because we’re friendly?” I shake my head, blowing out a breath.

“From what I know they ain’t even together.”

“That makes it all better in your book don’t it?” I have to resist the urge to roll my eyes.

“Goddamn right it does. Why you fuckin’ bustin’ my ass here, Grave?” Why am I standing in an alley holding a woman in my arms arguing with him? “Gimme that shit,” I say, nodding toward her purse and keys on the ground. Preacher moves to grab them, looking through her wallet.

“Lives a few blocks down,” he says, setting the stuff on top of her.

“Address?” I do roll my eyes this time. A couple blocks down doesn’t really help me. Preacher rattles off the address and I turn on my heel and start walking.

“You gonna be back tonight?” Grave chuckles behind me.

“Fuck off!” I keep walking, pissed at the whole situation. Then I hear the bikes fire up and come my way. They all slow down as I walk. “What the hell are you doin’ now?” I ask, glancing over at Grave as he smirks at me.

“They know where she works. What are the chances they know where she lives?”

“How do you know it wasn’t random?” I question him, although I know what he’s saying is true. If it’s someone that knows her, they know where she lives.

“Fuck off. We’ll sweep the house,” he says and rolls his bike along next to me. It doesn’t take me long to walk to her place. When I look up at it, I didn’t expect it to be so nice. Shifting the keys in my hand, I bend down while the guys chuckle behind me. Bastards couldn’t even help me open the damn door. Shoving it open, I start to walk in when a girl screams and swings a bat at my head. I duck and at the same time, Trina wakes up. Her eyes flutter as I crouch to miss the bat and she screams. She jumps, scaring the shit out of me and I jerk back upright. The force of her jumping sends her flying to the floor with a thud.

“Why are you carrying her? What did you do to her?” the little pixie-looking girl screams.

“I ain’t carryin’ her now!”

“You just dropped her on the floor!”

“You tried to hit me with a bat!”

“I’m still here,” Trina says from the floor, but I keep my eyes on the little shit with the bat.

“What did you do to her?” she asks again.

“I brought her home,” I say, motioning to the girl on the floor.

“Why was she passed out?” I huff out a breath when the guys come up behind me.

“You fightin’ girls now, Freak?” I flip Preacher off as he laughs.

“Who the fuck are you?”

“Abby, it’s okay. We need to talk,” Trina says as she tries to pull herself off the floor. I lean down and lift her up while her friend watches me warily.

“Talk about what?” Her eyes move to her friend and I move in, snatching the bat out of her hands.

“You’re lucky you’re a bitch or I’d beat the shit outta you for that!” I warn her. She gives me a dirty look but moves toward her friend, wrapping her arms around her. The guys shuffle in and start moving through the house. Trina’s eyes meet mine. “Just makin’ sure they didn’t leave anything here. We don’t know who it was yet,” I tell her. She nods her head, but I see the way her body begins to tremble. I motion for her to come to me and much to my surprise, she does. Folding my arms around her, her friend watches with her mouth open. Being the asshole that I am, I mouth the words I won.

“You think they know where I live?” she asks, but never pulls her face from my chest.

“I don’t know anything right now, darlin’. Don’t know if it was random or if they meant that for you.” I know that doesn’t reassure her, but that’s the best I got for now.

“House looks clear,” Reggie says, as the guys stroll back toward us a little while later. I nod my head, but Trina is still buried in my chest.

“We’re headin’ out. Call if you need us,” Grave says, slapping a hand on my shoulder.
