Someone to Love (Pride, Oregon #10)(7)
Author: Jill Sanders

The way she was moving over him, grinding him, he knew that it wouldn’t be long before he’d lose the last little bit of the hold that he had on his control.

He shifted and felt her jump slightly when he cupped her sex. Lifting her, he flipped her down on the mattress. He needed to get a taste of her.

“I want to enjoy you,” he said, trailing his mouth down her shoulders. Pushing the silky bra aside, he sucked her nipple until she cried out his name.

He rained little kisses over her skin as he moved lower, dipping the tip of his tongue into her belly button, enjoying the sweet taste of her.

When he reached the top of her matching silk panties, he ran his mouth over them as her fingers tangled in his hair.

“George.” His name was more of a warning. “I can’t.” She shook her head. He smiled up at her as he slipped the silk material down and then off her legs.

Running his eyes over her, he held in a slight groan at her beauty.

“I said it before but it’s true—you’re a picture of perfection.” He slowly ran his hand over her. This time when he cupped her, she cried out his name and arched into his hand.

He slipped a finger into her heat, and she gripped the comforter as soft sexy moans egged him on further. Dipping his head down, he settled between her legs and tasted her. He’d never had anything sweeter in his life and thought he might have said so as he lost himself in her pleasure.

When he felt her release and tasted her on his tongue, he slipped on the condom and then moved up and settled between her thighs.

“Look at me, Robin,” he said as he moved over her.

Her eyes fluttered open slowly, and he waited until they focused on him. They he slipped into her and lost part of himself.

“You have to go,” Robin said, shaking him awake.

“Hm?” He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her down to bury his face in her soft hair.

“George,” she hissed, “my sister’s going to be here soon.”

His eyes opened wide. “She is? Why on earth?” he asked.

She shrugged. “She claims she forgot a few cookbooks in the kitchen. She wants them since she’s making a special meal for Conner.” She pulled out of his arms and wiggled her cell phone.

It was then that he noticed she’d pulled on a pair of sweats and a T-shirt.

He glanced around for his own phone to see what time it was.

“It’s almost six,” Robin said, as if she’d read his mind.

“In the morning?” he balked.

“Yes,” she hissed, and nudged him again as he rolled towards her. “You have to go.”

He shook his head. “Can’t I just… hide out in here until she’s gone?”

“No.” She shook her head. “You promised.”

Groaning, he shoved the thought of repeating last night’s pleasure to the back of his mind as he hunted for his clothes. When Robin handed him his pants, he pulled them on quickly.

Just before heading out her door, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her until he felt her melt against him again.

“Tonight?” he asked.

“I’ll text you,” she replied, and shoved him out the door. “Now go.” She shut the door in his face.

He chuckled all the way to his car. As he pulled onto the main street, he noticed Kara’s new car, which Conner had helped her purchase, heading towards him. So she wouldn’t think that he’d just pulled out of their place, he parked in front of his cousin’s flower shop, All in Bloom. He glanced up at the old brick building.

The flower shop was in the middle of three units. One unit was currently a hair salon and the other had at one point been a real estate office. It was now sitting empty and had a for rent sign in the window.

He remembered being in there years ago and could vaguely recall what it looked like inside.

His mind ran over the possibilities as he turned off the engine and climbed out to take a better look through the windows, just to refresh his memory.

The more he looked at it, the more he realized that it would be perfect for a small legal office. He could see clearly through the windows and confirmed that there was still a small receptionist area out front. He remembered there being an office in the back with a full conference room directly across the hallway. He even thought there might be a storeroom or break room of some sort off the back with a door that led to the alley behind the buildings.

How long had he been dreaming of moving back to Pride, even though he knew there wasn’t really a need for a lawyer in such a small town? His family’s lawyer was from Edgeview, the closest city. Most of the people in Pride used law firms from the city, which is why he doubted he could make it in his hometown.

Still, that didn’t stop him from dreaming.

Stepping back, he almost bumped into his cousin Suzie.

“I thought that was you.” She smiled up at him. “What are you doing out of bed this early in the morning?” she asked him, then narrowed her eyes quickly. “Did you get kicked out of someone’s bed?”

He chuckled as an answer. “How much are they asking for rent?” He redirected her easily enough.

Suzie glanced over at the storefront. “Thinking of opening a boutique?” she teased.

“How much?” He tugged on the end of her hair playfully.

“Well, if you want to come in, we can call Kathy together and find out.” She motioned to the front door of her flower shop.

Since he was committed to not looking like a fool, he followed his cousin into the store. While Suzie dug out Kathy’s number, he glanced around at all the pretty flowers and vases she had and wondered if he should send Robin something nice.

Hadn’t he promised her last night that they would keep it uncomplicated? Then why, for the first time ever, was he thinking of getting a woman flowers?

He shook off those thoughts, when his cousin gave him the cell phone number of the owner of the building, Kathy Bernard.

Hearing the small monthly amount that Kathy wanted for the place, he almost convinced himself that he could pull it off. When Kathy said that she’d give him a week to think it over, he hung up and almost persuaded himself to give her an answer right then and there.

When he left Suzie’s store, he had a bundle of flowers tucked under his arm for his mother. If he moved back into town and opened his own practice, could he get enough business in Pride to sustain a life?

The rest of his cousins were having homes built in Hidden Cove. Could he afford something like that himself if he stayed?

If he added in the rent of the building, the cost for some basic renovations, the expense of a receptionist, he could probably afford a place in the new neighborhood. It was, at least, worth a drive out to take a look at the homes. If he was going to indulge in the fantasy, he might as well go full force.

And since there weren’t any events happening at the venue until later that afternoon, he figured after grabbing some homemade breakfast—

“What are you doing?” His mother’s voice stopped him in his tracks just a few steps through the front door. He knew that tone. That was the same tone he used to get when he tracked in mud after she’d spent a full day preparing the house for company.

Instantly, he glanced down at his shoes and winced when he noticed he’d tracked in a few drops of rainwater.
