RECAP

Previously on Prodigium Academy…

Violet Dracula, the daughter of Vladimir Dracula, is sent to Prodigium Academy to learn how to be a perfect monster. She’s extremely clumsy and kind-hearted, all of the qualities that others look down upon in the monster world.

While at the academy, she meets Frankie, the son of Frankenstein, who is a mad scientist with a lab beneath the school.

Mason, the son of Medusa and a known drug-addict.

Jack and Hux, two men forced to share the same body and the son (sons?) of Jekyll and Hyde.

Finally, Vin, a Van Helsing and her sworn enemy.

She also develops an attraction to Dimitri Gray, son of Dorian Gray, who is a teacher at the academy and a trained assassin.

When dead bodies show up on campus, each with bite marks on their necks, the vampires are the prime suspects in their murders, Violet especially.

During a trip to detention, Violet meets Cal and Barret, who are the Cupid and Boogeyman, respectively. Both men are forced to remain in the upper levels of the academy as punishment for their crimes, only set free on Halloween night.

The killings continue, and the suspicion around Violet grows when a lookalike of her appears at the murder scenes. It is revealed that Mikey, the son of Merlin, was selling sex dolls of Violet for profit and that one of those dolls had been used to frame her. Violet and the guys receive a list of all who had bought or used a doll, and she’s shocked to discover that her friend and roommate, Cynthia, is on the list.

When Violet confronts her, Cynthia denies it and is hurt that she has been accused.

The night of Halloween, the group attends a Halloween party at Cheryl’s house - Vin’s ex girlfriend. Violet becomes upset when she discovers Vin in Cheryl’s room, talking. As she is leaving the party, she is hit over the head and kidnapped.

The headmaster is revealed to be the kidnapper, but he admits that he didn’t murder the students. However, he truly believes that Violet is the murderer and is seeking revenge. He reveals that Frankie has been working with him this entire time, and he instructs Frankie to kill Violet. Frankie turns on the headmaster and, with the help of Dimitri who arrives, kills him.

Violet is comforted by Diedre Stevens, a kind vampire teacher, after the fight. Diedre admits that she’s the one who killed those students in an attempt to frame Violet. In her warped mind, she’s trying to gain rights for the vampires by making Violet a martyr. Diedre tells Violet that she is Dracula’s true daughter and that Violet actually isn’t Dracula’s biological kid. She also confesses that one of Violet’s men helped steal Violet’s venom from her fangs in order to frame her.

Violet uses a god-blessed dagger to kill Diedre, and Dimitri Gray helps cover up the death.

Back in her room, Frankie admits to Violet that he is her mate, but she’s still reeling from his betrayal. She decides to swear off guys and focus on herself.

Chapter 1

Violet

Have you ever been kicked in the dick before?

Well, if you answered no…same.

I’ve cut off dicks on more than one occasion, but I can’t say I’ve ever been kicked there before. Granted, I don’t have a penis, but I imagine it’d be pretty damn painful. Movies show men keeling over in pain, anguished gasps escaping their lips. Is it the equivalent of a boob punch? I have been punched there before…and then the girl died choking on cock. Not my cock—we’ve already established that I don’t have one—but the cock of Cupid.

Long story.

Discovering that my dad may not be my dad and that I might not even be a vampire is my boob-punch-slash-dick-kick.

Dracula isn’t the stereotypical, warm and fuzzy type of parent. He’s more likely to stab me in the chest and snap my neck than give me a hug. He’s a monster through and through. But he’s my monster. He’s the man who raised me, cared for me in a way only he’s capable of. The thought that he may have lied to me my entire life is shocking, unnerving, but not at all surprising. It’s sort of like I’ve been treading water for hours on end and a particularly ferocious wave pulls me under. I’m not expecting or wanting death, but I can’t say I’m too surprised.

I glare at the laminated menu, thousands of thoughts clamoring for attention in my mind. It becomes increasingly difficult for me to pick and focus on only one.

The restaurant Dad has chosen for dinner is an elegant steakhouse a few miles from the Academy. Flames from hanging chandeliers illuminate the room in a soft, golden glow. Each of the waitstaff is bedecked in black pressed pants and button-up shirts.

“Are we still waiting for one more?” a soft voice inquires, and I lift my head to gaze at the waiter. He’s a handsome man with dark skin and even darker hair, plush red lips, and broad shoulders. The uniform sticks to his broad chest, accentuating his lean muscles. Two black earrings are plugged in his right ear, and tattoos line his muscular arms where the sleeves are pushed up.

“He should be here,” I insist…for the fifteenth time in the last two hours. Dad is running…errr…a little late.
