Unruly Protector (Cocky Hero Club)(7)
Author: Esther E. Schmidt

I’m expecting her to take the time to shower and freshen up, and yet it only takes a few minutes before she strolls back into the bedroom. A white, fluffy towel is wrapped around her body and tied between her breasts while she’s drying her hair with another one.

“Do you have people around the house? Making dinner, cleaning, anything I need to know what to do and what not?”

I’m about to reply but I’m prevented from doing so when I swallow my tongue the moment she throws both towels to the floor. My future wife is a damn goddess. Curves created for my kind of fucking and breasts I could spend hours worshiping.

She covers it up with some pale blue lace before she slides into a long blue dress while staying barefoot. And let me tell you, even this woman’s feet are sexy. A surge of desire wrapped with possessiveness rushes through my veins. I flash up, snatch the ring out of the box and take her hand, throwing the box to the floor before I slide my claim on her finger.

The ring itself is vintage. I found it in one of my mother’s jewelry boxes and it instantly captured my breath. The details are extraordinary, as a crown is holding onto a diamond. It’s not extremely huge, the diamond is delicate yet captivating in its beauty. And I have to admit, it’s a perfect fit for this woman.

My eyes trail up to her face. Satisfaction roars through me when the look in her eyes tells me she’s just as captivated by the ring’s beauty as I am.

“It was my mother’s,” I murmur.

She brings her hand closer to her face. “This is...wow. Can we use this one as a wedding ring? This is...I don’t want to wear anything else, it’s absolutely gorgeous.”

“You haven’t seen the wedding rings I exclusively designed for us.” This little detail makes her gaze lock on mine.

Her head tilts to the side as she shoots me an incredulous look. “You designed a ring?”

“Rings,” I correct her. “I designed two.” I step away and head for the door. “We have a cleaning lady who comes two times a week. Normally I either cook or order in. You’re free to do either, or handle all the cooking if you enjoy it.”

“I do.” She clears her throat. “Clemente, if I may ask, what are your expectations?”

I swing the door open and glance back. “Like I said, be yourself when it’s just the two of us.”

I don’t wait for a reply but stalk out and slam the door behind me. This woman is throwing me off and making me act like an even bigger asshole than I usually am. Which reminds me, it’s time for a little chat with the fucker who has a crush on my woman and is living underneath my fucking roof.

I have never in all my damn life desired a woman as I do now. But seeing Rina’s body? It flames me up from the inside out. I know I have to wait for the wedding to make her mine and that’s the exact reason why I needed to get away from her.

Stalking down the hallway, I come to a stop in front of the guest bedroom Mattia chose. Without knocking I burst inside and watch how Mattia palms his gun and aims it right at me. Two seconds pass before he lowers the gun and gives me a tight nod in greeting.

“I won’t condone any other man getting a fucking chubby over my wife,” I growl, deciding I might as well make it clear I’m not here for easy chitchat.

Mattia gets to his feet and fully faces me. “Understood.” He swallows hard and takes a step forward. “May I have permission to speak freely without being judged or have me fall upon your knife for that matter?”

Intrigued by his request, I simply let my head bob twice.

“Caterina and I grew up together. My feelings have been there for a long time but they have never been returned or acted upon. Caterina sees me as a brother. I have always known I’m not worthy of her and she’s always worked hard to fulfill her dreams. Which is to make a change in this fucked-up world. She not only has the brains to do it, but the skills along with it. She studied hard and trains every day. I won’t ever be able to have the devotion she has reserved for you, her future husband. I’ve made my peace a long time ago. I respect her and won’t ever touch or harm her in any way. I would rather give my own life than to see her hurt.”

I take my time assessing his words and check out his body language. He’s young. I remember being his age and a lot of things are confusing. I can’t even imagine growing up with a woman like Rina close by and unreachable.

“Are you still a virgin?” His eyes widen at my question, shifting the topic to focus on him, and it’s clearly not a response he was expecting.

He uncomfortably clears his throat. “Yeah. It’s not like I have experience or time to pick up a girl.”

His cheeks flush and suddenly I’m not as angry as I was before I headed for his room.

“Are you ready for some action? I could arrange some distraction for you, so you can get over your feelings you have for my wife.”

His head bobs while I’m seriously questioning if his face could become a deeper shade of red than it already is.

“I would appreciate it.” He shifts on his feet. “And I’ve been trying to get rid of the feelings. I’ll work harder.”

“Sinking your dick in some random tight pussy is a nice distraction. Let me call Arturo, he will make sure you get a sweet girl. And as of today, I expect you to fully focus on your job as a guard for my future wife. Understood?”

Surprise flashes in his eyes. “You’re not sending me away?”

“Your feelings, unwanted or not, are an added level of protection. You won’t let anything happen to Rina. I trust you not to touch her and focus on getting your own girl. We had a talk and straightened things out. You fucking earn your place or lose the privilege to breathe. It’s that simple,” I state.

“Understood. Thank you. I won’t fail you,” he says with fierce sincerity.

I take my phone out of my pocket and text Arturo. He instantly replies.

“Arturo will be here within the hour. Take a shower and get ready. Have fun tonight and come morning you’re going to focus on your new life.”

“Thank you. I won’t fail you,” he vows again.

“Prove it and I’ll believe it,” I mutter and leave the room.

I head downstairs into my office and grab the whiskey. I don’t even bother to grab a glass. It’s been a dragging day and I need the alcohol to dull some of my senses before I head into my bedroom and face my future wife. My innocent, pure, extraordinary future wife. Whom I want to make mine in every damn way.

After a few drinks I shut my eyes and let sleep claim me for a few hours. When I wake up it’s almost six in the morning. Stretching my limbs, I decide to wake my future wife and see what skills she has. Without a sound, I open the bedroom door but it’s as if she wasn’t sleeping at all when she surges up and aims a gun at my head.

“Nice.” I shoot her a grin and close the door behind me. “Seems I can’t enter any bedroom in my own damn house without having a gun aimed at my face.”

“Don’t be so dramatic. You should be grateful I didn’t shoot first and check who I shot later,” she mutters and places the gun next to her pillow.

“A murderous wife to be.” I start to undress. “I thought women mostly used poison to get rid of their husband.”
