Worst Boss Ever(11)
Author: J. S. Cooper

“Abby?” I stepped forward. “Abby Waldron?”

The four girls stopped in their tracks and turned to look at me, and the girl who had been speaking turned bright red.

I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The woman in front of me was absolutely gorgeous. Her long black, curly hair hung down her back. Her frumpy body now looked voluptuous and curvy in her tight black dress. I stared at the expanse of skin on display and I felt myself hardening. Hmm, how interesting was this? My new secretary, Abby Waldron, was a stunner. An absolute stunner.

Her brown eyes shone as she licked her lips nervously. “Hello, Mr. McAllister. Fancy seeing you here.”

“Fancy seeing you here indeed. Don’t you have work to be doing?” I said with a smirk. “Or am I just paying you to hang out with your friends?”

“It’s Saturday night, Mr. McAllister,” she snapped. “I think I can go out with my friends. I’m not on the clock 24/7, you know. You’re not paying me that much.”

“Really?” I rose one eyebrow as I stared at her. “I think I’m paying you quite a lot, don’t you?”

She pressed her lips together and didn’t answer me. I could tell she was pissed. I wanted her to come back at me. I enjoyed our back-and-forths.

“So who are your friends?” I looked at the other three girls whose expressions were a mixture of horror and amusement.

“These are my best friends and roommates,” Abby said, almost robotically. “That’s Isabella.” She paused. “Well, she’s not my roommate anymore. She moved out—”

“Because she got engaged?” I said, dryly.

“How did you know?” Isabella said, surprised, her eyes wide. “Oh my gosh, don’t tell me that Jack—”

I interrupted her, “I don’t know who Jack is. I just heard you talking about it and your honeymoon.”

“Oh, yes.” She laughed. “I guess I was rather loud, wasn’t I?”

“Yes,” I said. She looked surprised at my response, but I liked to tell the truth.

“And anyway, this is my roommate, Emma, and this is Chloe,” Abby continued.

“Hi, nice to meet you,” they all said.

“And you too. I’m Dylan, Dylan McAllister.” I reached out and shook their hands, noticing that Emma and Chloe were also very beautiful, but appeared quite nervous. What had Miss Waldron been telling them about me? And should I spice it up even more in the office so that she could tell them even more?

It almost felt like a challenge.

“Umm, are you going to introduce me?” Kent said from behind me.

I sighed. “Fine. Ladies, this is my younger brother, Kent.”

“Hi,” they all chorused. I could see Emma and Chloe smiling at him. Poor girls, they wanted him too.

“He’s not on the market. Sorry,” I said.

“Well, thanks, brother,” Kent said. “But that’s right. I’m not on the market. Though Dylan here is.”

“I’m Mr. McAllister’s employee. So I don’t think that any of my friends would be interested in dating him. That would be quite …” Abby paused. “Well, it wouldn’t really be professional, would it? I mean, I wouldn’t like to come to my home and see him hanging out with one of my roommates. I need a little bit of space, you know?”

“Noted,” Kent said with a laugh and gave me a side-eye. “I guess I finally met a woman who hasn’t fallen for your charm, big brother.”

“Oh, she hasn’t had my charm yet,” I answered him. Abby just glared at me.

“Well, it was nice seeing you, Mr. McAllister, but my friends and I actually came out to have a good time and party, so …” she looked me up and down, “we’re going to have to say goodbye now.”

“Okay.” I nodded, though I was surprisingly disappointed inside. Abby was beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. And she still had her spunk. It was weird because even though she’d looked frumpy in the office, I had been attracted to her. And now that I saw what she looked like dressed up with makeup on, I was even more attracted to her.

“Actually, Miss Waldron, I need to speak to you for a second.”

“What about?” she said, a slight attitude in her voice.

“Umm, to the side, please.” Kent was grinning, and her friends were looking at us, their eyes wide. “Miss Waldron?”

“Yes, Dylan?”

“Did I say you could call me Dylan?”

“Are you joking? You just introduced—”

“To your friends, but you are my employee. To you, I am Mr. McAllister.”

“Yes, Mr. McAllister.” She rolled her eyes.

“Now, Miss Waldron, I got a very important email about thirty minutes ago.”

“What’s that got to do with me?” she said. “It’s your email, not mine.”

“As I said, it’s very important.”

“Okay, and?”

“And I think we’ll need to do some work.”

“What? When?” Her jaw dropped. “You’re not telling me you’re expecting me to do some work right now? Aren’t you here with your brother? I’m here with my friends. I’m not going back—”

“Shh,” I pressed my finger against her lips and she sputtered as she pushed me away from her.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“Shutting you up,” I said.

“You can’t press your finger against my lips like that.” She was flustered now, and I grinned down at her. A vein was popping in her neck. I was making her nervous. I wondered if she was as attracted to me as I was to her.

“I could have put my lips there instead. Would you have preferred that?” I asked softly.

“No, and I would have slapped you if you’d tried.”

“Why don’t you look like this when you’re in the office?” I whispered, looking her up and down. “Why do you always have your hair up?”

“Because that’s a professional setting. I’ve looked professional in the office.”

“No, you don’t look professional. You look dowdy,” I corrected her.

“That is your opinion.” She glared at me. “But when I’m out with my friends, I can have my hair down and enjoy myself. Because tonight I want to enjoy myself, and you are ruining my enjoyment, Mr. McAllister.”

“Maybe I don’t want to ruin your enjoyment. Maybe I—”

“You just told me you want me to do some work.”

“Well, how’s about I let you go into the club and party with your friends for two hours, and then we’ll meet up and do some work?”

“Are you kidding? I want to have some drinks. I—”

“I’m sure you can have one or two drinks and then do some work, right?”

“No! I’m not—”

“I’m paying you $25,000 a month. If you read your contract, it says, and I quote, ‘You are available at any time of the day or night when work needs to be done.’ And I have some very important work to be done for the London deal. Capisce?”

“Fine,” she said. “Am I meant to meet you at the office?”
