“This is all your fault.” I hiss at Pikachu.

He meows a response, pretending he wasn’t about to pee himself after he thought it would be a good idea to jump out the window into a tree. I had no choice but to follow his little butt out. Once he’d landed on the branch he’d become a big scaredy cat and wouldn’t move an inch. He wasn’t even that high up. Yet that didn’t stop him from being dramatic.

When I woke up earlier, I was a bit surprised I wasn’t tied to the bed again. I also wasn’t shocked to see the small love bites all over the inside of my thighs when I went into the bathroom. I’d traced them with my fingers, enjoying the sight of them more than I’d ever tell another soul. I was Bruno’s captive, but all he has been intent on doing is giving me pleasure. The only thing he’s taken from me was the blowjob.

I'm not sure you could consider it as him taking it from me. I willingly gave it to him. I wanted to do it more than anything. I craved the way he commanded me to do things. Even now as I make my escape, my mind is already crafting a fantasy of him hunting me down. It’s one I’ve had before but never did the man have a face. Until now that is.

Pikachu wiggles in my arms, wanting to get down. Sometimes when we were at home, I would let him go outside with me. He would always stay close, but right now, I have no clue where we are or the dangers that lurk about.

Thank God I’d been smart enough to slip on my shoes before I made a mad dash out of the window to save Pikachu. I should have known better than to open it to begin with. But I wanted to have a look out. I hadn’t been outside since Bruno took me and was craving a bit of fresh air.

The thick curtains always made it hard to tell what time of the day it was in Bruno’s bedroom. Everything happened so quickly. It felt as though I’d barely gotten the window open and Pikachu was already out and clinging on to the tree branch. When I’d finally gotten us to the ground was when I realized I’d not only rescued Pikachu but escaped as well.

I knew at that moment I had to run. It was the logical thing to do. Now I’m in the middle of a bunch of trees, only wearing one of Bruno’s shirts I’d snagged off the floor and my work boots. I don’t even have panties on!

“You better stay close.” I give Pikachu a glare before I set him on the ground. I’m not sure if I should be thankful to him for our escape or upset because he got us into our current situation. He stays close as I keep walking away from the direction of the house.

I’m not sure how much time passes until I break from the trees onto an empty road. I know it must be a back country road because it’s partially paved, and the rest is still gravel. Even as I think I might not come across a car on it, I hear the sound of gravel being kicked up.

I bend down and pick Pikachu up into my arms as a black truck comes speeding down the road. It starts to slow when the driver sees me. He stops when he gets next to me and rolls down his window.

“Do you need a ride?” His tongue darts out, licking his lips as his eyes openly roam up and down my body.

I’m only in a shirt and boots, after all. The shirt barely hits mid-thigh on me. If I had to guess, I would say the man is in his late thirties. Both his shirt and jeans are dirty. He might have been working or something, I suppose, but there is an open bottle of beer in the cup holder along with an empty bottle of some kind of whiskey in the passenger seat. The whole vehicle smells of alcohol and sweat. My years of training have me taking in every detail.

“Cat got your tongue?” He chuckles.

“No, I’m fine,” I say quickly. “My little Pikachu got out, and I was looking for him. I found him, and all is well. Thanks though.” I take a few steps backwards.

“I’ll drive you back home.” He smiles at me as he reaches across to open the passenger door.

“No really. We’re good.” I take another step back. The second his hand moves to put his truck into park, I know he’s not going to take no for an answer. All the police training in the world isn’t going to help me out here in the middle of nowhere with a man twice my size. I have to run.

I turn, darting back into the trees. The man shouts after me. No filthy fantasies spring to mind now as I run as fast as I can. All I can think about is getting back to Bruno.

“Don’t be like that. We could have fun!” the man shouts from behind me. I don’t know how it’s possible if he’s been drinking, but I can hear him closing in on me. I keep Pikachu close to my chest as I push harder to make my way back toward the house. My legs burn, but I know I have to keep moving.

“Stupid bitch,” he grunts from behind me. I don’t let myself look back to see if he’s fallen or something. Fearing I’m not going the right way, I do the only thing I can think to do. I scream out for Bruno in case he is out here trying to find me.

My scream is only followed by another. One that isn’t mine. I spin around to see the stranger twenty yards back. A knife is now protruding from his chest. Blood gushes out around the wound as he drops to his knees, his eyes wide but not on me.

I follow his stare to see Bruno walking straight toward the man. He stops in front of him, gripping a handful of his hair to pull the man's head back at the same time he yanks the knife out from his chest.

“You can have her,” the man chokes out.

Bruno brings the knife to the man’s throat. I should tell him to stop. As crazy as it sounds, I know he’d listen to me. Instead I turn away and start to run again. I don’t stop until I make it back to the tree I came down earlier. I put Pikachu on the trunk, and he scrambles up, and I follow. I enter through the window I escaped from earlier then shut and lock it behind me. I instantly feel safe again.

I kick my boots off and climb back into bed, pulling the covers up over Pikachu’s and my head before I burst into tears.

The blood washes off with ease. It always does. The man I killed is still out in the woods, but I’ll deal with him later. For now, I have a wayward lamb and her kitten to attend to.

After throwing the bloody hand towel and my ruined shirt into the laundry, I prowl down the main hall of my home.

Alice pops out of the kitchen, takes one look at my face, and ducks back inside. She’s always been a smart one.

I try to calm myself as I climb the stairs. Am I angry? Definitely. But what’s worse than that, I was afraid. When I saw Love running, terror in her eyes, I was scared for her. And when I neutralized the threat, I wanted to beat my chest with my fists and take the severed head to lay at her feet.

When I enter the bedroom, I see two shapes under the covers.

I strip the blanket back. “Pikachu, get fucked.” I hitch a thumb over my shoulder.

He prances off the bed as Love protests mildly, “He can stay.”

“No, he can’t.” I yank the blanket the rest of the way off and inspect her. “Are you hurt?”

“No.”

“Did he touch you?” I grit my teeth.

“No.” She shakes her head, her eyes watering.

Fuck if that doesn’t break a piece of me.

With a heavy sigh, I crawl into bed beside her and pull her to my chest. “What were you thinking?”
