Whip's Breath(17)
Author: E.C. Land

We’ve had a few disagreements. All of them over stupid shit that was completely pointless to even be arguing about. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Whip, I might be a teacher making a small salary, but I can and will help out around the house with bills,” Harper chastises, hands on her hips and glaring at me.

I just told her that Venom and I take care of the bills at the house. “I get that you want to help out, Pumpkin. You wanna help out, do stuff around here like Amaya does. She goes to the grocery store and goes shopping for whatever the hell she thinks any of us need. You won’t win this argument, Amaya already tried it with Venom. It’s not gonna happen.”

“Why won’t you let me help?” she asks, her face taking on a pout. I’m sure she thinks it’ll help her get her way.

“Pumpkin, Venom and I bought this house together. We like living together in the same space. Him and I made a deal we’d keep everything fifty-fifty between the two of us. We’re expanding to make it bigger but still its ours and our ol’ ladies. We pay the bills because as your men, we want to take care of you,” I explain, moving into her space, hands going to her hips, and pulling her the rest of the way into me.

“Oh all right, I suppose I could make the yard pretty?” she asks instead of telling me.

“Whatever you want, baby.” I grin and lean down to capture her mouth mine

That particular disagreement was right before her parents came to town.

They’d bought an RV and stayed in it outside the house. Harper’s mom said the were looking forward to being stateside again. Now they’re off traveling the States. Harper explained to me that her mom’s wish was after getting her kids through school was to travel the world. Her dad’s making it happen, and I gotta say I have mad respect for him doing it for his wife.

Today, I had to come into the garage to help my brothers with the workload. Over the weekend, there was a mud bog at the mud park. During these events, people who don’t know what the fuck they’re doing go out and fuck their vehicles up, leaving them stranded. Then there’re the ones who just plain don’t care and leave it to the garages in the area to fix it for them.

I’m working on a Jeep Wrangler where the owner took it out on stock tires and wheels, flooded the motor thinking they could go play with the big boys. This is the type of shit that pisses me off.

Torquing the bolts into place, I release a frustrated breath. People need to learn not to use their everyday vehicles for mud bogs and shit. I don’t care if your getting shit faced while partying. That’s what they make ATV’s for.

Shit.

Several of my brothers and I go out to these events and there a blast. We always have damn good time. Its just the aftermath of them that sucks, and we get the workload of the dumb twats who do this shit right here. I skipped mud bog because Harper’s parents were in town. Venom, Viper, Cane and a few others went. They told me about it when they finished up there. Next time there’s an event going on, I’ll be sure to take Harper out and show her what it’s like to get down and dirty playing in the mud. I look forward to it, honestly. Just like I do when she’s on the back of my bike.

Shit. The thought of Harper on the back of anything with her front snug to my back turns me the hell on. Anything that involves Harper turns me on its just how it works when it comes to my woman.

And to think there was a time I didn’t want to ever get married. Guess, like my brothers, it takes a special kinda woman to keep me.

This morning I didn’t get the chance to fuck her like I wanted. She’d started her monthly friend and freaked when I told her I didn’t care about that shit. I could easily fuck her in the shower. Harper glared and told me that was not happening and that I was going nowhere near her while she was on her period.

I shrugged and stated I’d get what I want easily. All I had to do was a little persuasion when it comes to her. It’s how I got her to move into the house with me, and how I’ll keep her there when this mess with her stalker is over with. Harper’s my wife, and I don’t want to let her go.

My phone vibrates in my pocket, and I put the torque wrench down to pull it out. I grin at the sight of Harper’s name on the screen. I love it when she calls me. Mainly because I know its her letting me know she misses me.

Answering, I put the phone to my ear. “Hey, Pumpkin, you finished with school already?” I couldn’t remember if today was supposed to be the day the school got out early or not. I only knew there was one day this week it would be.

“Harper is mine and now I have her. You’ll never see her again,” a male voice filled with malice sneers through the line.

“Who the fuck is this?” I demand, coldness ripping through my body.

“That is not your concern anymore. Nothing about Harper is yours to worry about. She’s mine. I’ll be making sure you stay away from my beautiful Harper. Take this is your goodbye.” He snickers the last part of his statement and hangs up.

Pulling the phone from my ear, I clench the damn thing in my hand and throw it as hard as I can at the tool bench against the wall. My phone shatters against the force, falls to the floor where it lands in pieces.

“What the fuck, brother?” Cane asks, shouting from across the bay.

“You okay?” Tracker’s eyes narrow as if he were assessing me from the door to the office. He was working with Piper today on a few things for the accounting or some shit.

“No, he’s fuckin’ got her. That motherfucker got his hands on Harper. Prospect was on her, and he still fuckin’ got her,” I snarl, raking my hands through my hair roughly pacing the bay. I need to figure out how to get her back.

“Fuck. You sure?” Venom asks, joining us. Tracker’s already pulling his phone out. I hear him speaking to Cyprus to see if he can’t find anything out about the prospect since he should be out that way. We patched Cyprus in a few months ago. Not long before he got his patch, Cyprus ended up getting custody of his little sister, who his mother kept neglecting. Weekdays he always drops her off and picks her up at school.

“Yeah, he called me from Harper’s phone,” I leer, trying to focus on the here and now and not the possibility of her being harmed. Or what could happen. I need to stay focused. Treat this like a mission from when Venom and I were in the military.

Images swirl in my head of my brothers in arms laying in the sand dead or screaming for help.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

I need Harper back. If something happens to her, my brothers might as well put a bullet in my head. In such a short time she’s taken over my heart. I can’t breathe without her in my life and I don’t want to.

Motherfucker is dead when I get him. I can’t think of him hurting my woman. I do that, then I know I’ll become unstable, and my brothers will have to lock me down. And that shit ain’t gonna happen.

“I’ll call Nerd, get a bead on her phone,” Cane states, pulling his phone out.

“What did the stalker say on the phone to you?” Tracker asks, pulling the phone away from his ear.

I tell him and ask about the prospect. “Why didn’t the prospect protect her?”

“Cyprus was at the school picking up his little sister when I called him. He saw Aries’ bike but didn’t see him. Said he thought something was off. He went to look around. Shit, he’s with Aries now after finding him behind the building unconscious. I called before he could call Stoney,” Tracker says, eyes filled with fury.
