Royally Targeted (Royal Sons MC #8)(20)
Author: Elle Boon

“Shitttttfuck,” he yelled as he lost hold of the bike, rolling away from the interstate, his body slamming up against the concrete wall after what felt like minutes of flying or skidding. His leather jacket and chaps smelled like burned rubber. He lay there, assessing his injuries.

“Motherfucker, answer me. Are you fucking dead?” Keys yelled.

Mick groaned, flopping onto his back. “Sssh,” he tried to say.

“Mick Richardson, are you dead or are you telling me to be quiet because you got your dome rang?” Keys asked quietly.

“I—fuck. Bike wrecked.”

“Yo, we got you. Don’t move, Archer.”

“That’s Wheels. Someone get T-Rex on the phone.”

Mick wished they’d stop fucking screaming when his head was hurting like someone had hit him with a baseball bat.

“He’s been shot a couple times, and his bike is toast. Damn, he’s gonna have some road rash, but looks like his leathers did their job.”

Yeah, he didn’t know who that was and didn’t care. He was fucking blind.

“You ain’t blind, asshole, your helmet is still on, and you got a lot of blood seeping down your face, so we’re gonna leave that right where it is until the ambulance gets here. We’re your guards. I’m Kink.”

Mick hadn’t thought he’d spoke out loud, but Kink saying what Mick feared about not seeing settled him some. He reached for the strap on the helmet, needing to get the fucker off whether the other man said he should leave it on or not, Mick didn’t agree. As for going to the hospital, that was a no, he hated them. What he disliked more, was not being able to see and feeling as though he was helpless.

“Shit, don’t do that, you don’t know if your neck is broke or what, brother.” Kink’s deep growl was close to his ear.

“Yeah, I do. I’ve had a broken back, so I know what being broken feels like. I’m fucked up, but not broken.” He could feel his legs and arms. It was being unable to see that was troubling him. He couldn’t get the strap undone with his bloody fingers, or maybe it was the strap that was bloody.

“Cut the strap,” he said to the men around him.

When nobody did as he’d asked, he sat up, grunting as he did. Fucking hell. “Wheels, cut the strap. Keys, tell them to cut the strap on my goddamn helmet.”

“Get his helmet off if he’s barking orders. Is he moving and shit?” King asked.

“Well, he’s sitting against the wall. He’s got a couple bullet wounds, and I’m gonna be straight with ya, he’s fucked up, but nothing looks broken, but I ain’t a doctor,” Wheels said.

Another thirty seconds and he was going to break something if they didn’t get him out of the fucking helmet that was preventing him from seeing.

“Here,” Kink said.

A tug by his chin and then the helmet was off. Wetness coated his forehead, dripping into his eyes. Wheels, he thinks, handed him a handkerchief. Mick wiped at the dripping mess with his one good arm, finally able to see the four men in front of him. “Fuck, I’m not blind.”

“Nah, but you sure are lucky.” T-Rex nodded at the bike a few feet away that had come to a stop at the edge of their trailer. Another foot and it would’ve hit them. It now looked as though was nothing but a mangled mess of twisted metal from where he sat. He took a slow look back the way he’d slid, noticing bits of glass and bike parts had broken off, leaving a trail down the interstate.

“Yeah, that I am. Did you see the vans fly by?” he asked the others.

Kink nodded. “Yeah, they slowed up but didn’t stop when T-Rex flashed his friend.”

T-Rex grinned and grabbed his crotch, but it was the automatic weapon he held along with the double row of ammo strapped across his chest, that must’ve shown the men Mick wasn’t alone.

He laughed, then winced. “We need to get out of here before the cops show up.”

They all looked at him then each other, then him like he was nuts.

“Uh, King said you need to go to the hospital,” Wheels said, holding a phone out.

Mick struggled to get to his feet, grunting in pain as every inch of him hurt. “I need help, brothers. I don’t want to go to the hospital. Doc can fix me up, but I’m not going to the hospital unless he says I have to.”

“King said load him and his bike and get the hell back home.” Wheels looked at T-Rex as he spoke.

With Kink and Rod on either side of him, he was able to get off the ground without crying like a bitch. Wheels and T-Rex loaded his fucked-up ride into the trailer, shoveling up the parts that were on the roadway. You’d think it had been long enough the cops or an ambulance would’ve already been on the scene. Hell, nobody even stopped to see if they were alright. No rubber neckers or anything. Welcome to California, asshole. That was why he’d chose to stay in Cali after the military, knowing he would melt into the crowd. One could get lost amongst the millions. He wondered if...nah, The Father and MS-13 wouldn’t be looking for him. He had nothing to do with any of them. They thought he was dead and wouldn’t have any reason to try and kill King or him. No, this had to have something to do with the prick Pete and whatever he’d been mixed up in years before. Marco was clearly looking for something, or maybe wanting payback.

Chapter Six

She saw the convoy of vehicles roll in after King barked out orders, followed by Doc’s that literally roared in shortly after. Tiana wanted to ask what happened, but if she’d learned anything living amongst the MC, it was don’t ask, don’t tell, and mind your business. At the end of the day, none of it was hers to know. She wasn’t part of the club, she wasn’t an ole’ lady, and she wasn’t ever going to be any of those things. Mick had made that clear as mud. King did as well earlier when he’d told her to stay in the house and not to come out. Oh, she was sure her sister was aware of what was going on, but not her.

“Wait, mud isn’t even clear,” she muttered to herself. She got up from the comfy couch and went back to her room. At least her sister and Legend were sleeping so nobody had to see her sulking like a baby.

Back in the bathroom attached to her room. No, it wasn’t hers either. It was the room she was allowed to use. Tiana looked at herself in the mirror and wondered why she’d thought she could’ve gotten a man like Mick to notice her. She pulled the tank top off and stared at her chest. Average boobs, nothing like her bombshell sister who was built like a little pocket-venus. Her waist was small and hips slightly wider, but yeah, she was average. She turned to the side and looked at her ass in the booty shorts. Meh, nothing to write home about. Not flat and not bubble, just meh.

“I don’t want men noticing me anyhow.” She bent and put the tank back on, covering her body back up. The tattoo peeked out from the shorts, reminding her she needed to apply the aftercare ointment Lux had given her if she didn’t want it to get infected. Although she didn’t care much about the pain, she wanted it to heal properly. After taking care of applying the ointment and placing the covering over the tattoo, she went into the bedroom and dressed for bed. She’d thought Ayesha would’ve fought her more on the college thing. However, maybe her sister thought the same as her. Maybe Ayesha actually wanted Tiana to get out from under her as well.
