Love Letters Lost (Suspenseful Seduction World)(13)
Author: Miranda Lynn

“I need your help.” I gave him a quick run-down of where I was and what had happened over the last few days.

“Does she even know what she is?” Laughter rang in his voice.

“Not yet, but Jason sure as hell is not the Dom to show her.”

“No, I agree. That man is a bomb waiting to go off with the wrong sub. He needs someone just as sadistic as he is, along with some retrainin’ himself.”

“Exactly, but I don’t know where to even begin tryin’ to help him find that up here. If we were back in Texas, it wouldn’t be a problem. So, what I need to know is if you can locate a club or party up here that might take his mind off of Genevieve.”

“Not off the top of my head, but give me a couple hours, and I’ll get back to you. Ian and Devon might be able to help. I have to go into a meetin’ with the team this mornin’; I’ll ask them when we finish.”

“Thanks, Brody, I appreciate it! Give Fancy and my nephew hugs for me.”

“Anytime, little bro. I expect you to bring her on down when this is all over. I want to meet this woman who has you all tied up in your emotions.” His sudden serious tone hung between us before the line went dead.

“Asshole,” I muttered. I wouldn’t have answers for a few hours. I checked my watch. If Genevieve wasn’t up by now, it was time she was. There was a little coffee shop on the square that a little birdy told me she enjoyed whenever she visited. I stopped and grabbed breakfast for both of us and headed over to her place.

I knocked on the front door, two lattes and two oversized cinnamon rolls in hand. After the third unanswered knock, I began to look around for a key. Nothing along the doorframe, nothing in the flowerpots by the door, but when I noticed an odd-colored rock and turned it, I found the hide-a-key I expected to locate. These little notions were sold at every dollar store in the world. Some shaped like rocks, others like little garden statues, but all with the same small covered indention in the bottom to put a spare key in. I would have to make sure Genevieve didn’t use it going forward. It wasn’t safe and invited robbers.

I let myself in, pocketing the key after I shut the door. As I expected, the curtains were still drawn, and silence greeted me. I took out one of the serving trays I had found in the kitchen when I cleaned it last night, plated the still-warm cinnamon rolls, and poured the lattes into large coffee mugs from Genevieve’s grandmother’s collection. I chose a pink sparkly mug with a unicorn horn for a handle for Genevieve and a basic blue pottery mug for myself. Two cloth napkins and silverware completed the tray. A flower would have added a pop of color, but Genevieve might consider that a bit much.

I carried the tray down the hall and used my hip to push the bedroom door open. She had left it cracked, thank goodness since turning a doorknob with the tray in hand could have been disastrous. I stopped to stare at her, sleeping all snuggled up in that fuzzy blanket I had found. Her hair was splayed around her, and her face was relaxed in a state of peace for the first time since I had met her. No worry lines creased her forehead, and the shadows that hung beneath her eyes were gone.

I placed the tray on top of the dresser before taking a seat on the bed next to her. I gently traced a finger down her face, wanting to go further but kept myself in check. The swell of her breasts beneath the blanket rose with each breath, calling to be touched and worshipped. Would her nipples be rosy pink or a dusky brown? I forced my gaze back to her face, brushing my hand through her hair, the silky strands I wanted to wrap around my fist and control. I gently grabbed a handful and tugged. Genevieve’s resounding moan confirmed that she would enjoy it, too. I had to adjust myself, relieving the pressure of my zipper off of my building erection. I released her hair and sat back, choosing to start at her feet to wake her. I squeezed her ankle through the blanket.

“Wake up, sleepyhead.” I watched her face for signs of awakening. I moved up to her shin, again squeezing and giving her a tiny shake. “Genevieve, it’s time to wake up.” She yanked away and curled up on her side.

“Five more minutes, Gran,” her sleep-filled voice mumbled.

I needed to bring in the big guns. As much as I would enjoy ripping the blanket from her and waking her with a touch to her most sensitive spots, I chose to stand and retrieve her latte from the tray and brought it over. The scent of fresh caffeine should help rouse her.

“Come on, pet. It’s time to wake up and eat.” The cinnamon roll waiting on the tray wasn’t exactly what I craved for breakfast, but if I got to eat with her, it would have to do…for today.

“Mmm. Is that a caramel latte from Rose’s?” She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and tried to focus on me.

“I was told it was your favorite as well as her oversized cinnamon rolls.” I smiled down at her, enjoying the slow surprise in her eyes.

“You didn’t!” She pushed herself to a sitting position, taking the mug I offered.

“I did.” I grabbed the tray and set it on the bed between us.

“Wait, how did you get in? I swore I locked up last night.” The caffeine seemed to be working its way through her system, and her mind was becoming fully aware that I sat before her.

“You did, but it wasn’t hard to find the hide-a-key in the front garden.” I took a bite from my roll, licking the icing off my fingers. “Not the smartest thing to do. I’d suggest not usin’ it in the future.”

“No one in this town would harm Gran. She never worried that someone would break-in. It wasn’t until later in life when she became forgetful, her house key being what she forgot the most, so she picked that up at the dollar store.” Genevieve took a bite of her roll. “Oh my god, these are amazing. Rose has always had a way with pastries.” Her moan of pleasure rushed straight to my cock. “I told her it wasn’t safe, but she always waved away my concern. Mr. Dandridge next door kept an eye on her and the house for me, and his son as well.”

“Sounds like you loved her very much.”

“I do.” She sniffed. “Or should I say I did now?” She shrugged her shoulders and took another bite. Her lips wrapped around the bite, her tongue quickly flicking out to catch a drop of icing at the corner of her mouth. My brain conjured up images of those lips and the heat of her mouth wrapped around my already engorged cock.

“So, why didn’t you move back to be with her?” My need to learn more about this woman overrode social etiquette at this moment.

“A lot of bad decisions kept me from coming back.” She finished off her roll and leaned back against the headboard, cradling her mug.

“Such as?” I encouraged her.

“They are all in the past now and can’t be changed.” She skirted my question like a well-oiled machine.

“True, but those decisions brought you to this moment in your life and molded you into the woman you are today. A woman I want to learn more about.” I removed the tray laden with two empty plates, then scooted around her legs and up the bed to sit beside her, leaning against the headboard. Without having to look straight at me, I hoped she would share a bit more. In the future, I wouldn’t be this gracious when having any type of discussion with her, but for now, to earn her trust, I would relax next to her.

Her body stiffened for a moment when I settled beside her, and I watched her muscles slowly relax from the corner of my eye. I waited. I could hear the cranking of the wheels turning in her head. “What’s runnin’ through that mind of yours, pet?”
