Finding Sanctuary(11)
Author: Susi Hawke

I was floating, more turned on than I’d ever been in my life. If this was how being fed on by a vampire felt, sign me up for more of this shit. Storm was right… I never wanted this to end. After what felt like hours but was probably less than mere minutes—it was hard to tell while I was lost in this euphoria—he pulled his teeth free and licked the wound.

I only realized it was happening because I was already mourning the loss of our connection. Before I could complain, he nudged my chin and kissed me again. My blood on his tongue should’ve grossed me out, but it fueled the fire burning through my body.

And the whole time, his hand moved fast and steady over our cocks. Dripping precum became lube, encouraging the glide of his velvety flesh against mine. My balls were high and tight, desperate to blow. With each move of his hand, my hips bucked, and I couldn’t decide whether to beg for release or if I never wanted it to end.

My heart pounded, my pulse raced… and my balls throbbed. My dick had never felt so hard in my life. And through it all, I kissed Storm and lost myself in the moment.

He didn’t stop until our combined cum spilled over his fist. Right as I began coming, Storm broke the kiss and touched his forehead to mine as if wanting to savor the moment. After we were done, I watched in fascination as he lifted his hand and licked it clean. I couldn’t take it—I needed a taste of my own. Groaning, I went for another kiss, loving our flavor mixture in his mouth.

When we finally separated so I could take a proper breath, Storm lay back, taking me with him as he rolled us onto our sides. “After I give Muriel her blood therapy, would it be okay if I joined you in your room? I want to wake with you in my arms. I want to see your eyes open as you welcome the new day.”

I smiled and ran my hand over his chest. “God, you’re so romantic. Yes, I would like the same thing.” All of a sudden, I felt awkward again. “Umm… is it okay to ask what’s happening here?”

Storm rubbed the tips of our noses together. “I don’t know about you, but I think we’re at the end of a successful first date. And if you’ll agree to it, I’d like to see where this might lead between us.”

“I’d like that too,” I said softly. I closed my eyes, ready to simply enjoy these last few minutes before we went downstairs and rejoined the world. My eyes popped open again, and I shivered with excitement—this time of a different kind. “Omigosh! If I’m dating you, then maybe you’ll let me be your alpha reader. Ooh! I could even give you some of my ideas. I have so many! An entire notebook, in fact, dedicated to plot bunnies.”

Storm laughed softly. “I see how it is… I find the perfect guy, and he’s already using me for my books.” He kissed me again, then smiled. “Seriously? An entire notebook? Darcy, have you ever thought about trying your hand at writing yourself?”

“Umm… I have, actually. I’ve written some pretty popular Stucky fanfic on the site I use.” I felt ridiculous, admitting something so silly to a popular author.

He didn’t seem to see it the same way. “Tell you what. I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll let you read the first draft of my new book if you’ll let me read some of your fanfic.”

No-brainer. “Done. Anything else?”

Grinning, Storm ran a hand down my back to grab my ass. He squeezed my cheek in the palm of his hand, giving me a playful wink. “Actually, I think I do have one caveat. I want to do all of our reading in bed so we can act on impulse during the hotter scenes. But at the risk of sounding like a prude, I also want to wait before we do much more than what we just shared. I feel like you’re the kind of man I want to take my time to know before intensifying anything between us.”

He paused, then added one more thought. “And you have to promise never to tell Muriel any of the cheesy things I said tonight, including anything I might say in the future.”

Future. I liked the sound of his words. Somewhere in the back of my head, I could dimly remember joking on the message I’d left for Gene’s podcast. Something like if I were going to make a wish, it would be meeting my favorite author and falling for him.

Could this whole thing be an answer to my message? I quietly laughed at my frivolous thought. Besides, it wasn’t like I’d made an actual wish. And I didn’t know if Gene was truly a genie.

Storm watched me with a gentle smile. “What’s so funny?”

“Nothing. I’m happy and having weird thoughts.” My eyes widened as something else occurred to me. “I promise never to share any of your cheesy lines with Muriel, but I’m going to need you to swear to something in return.”

“If it’s in my power, it’s yours.”

Shuddering, I wrinkled my nose. “Can we maybe try to avoid my mama until the smug glow from her successful matchmaking wears off?”

Storm burst into laughter. “I doubt it will be possible, but I’ll do my best.”

I laughed right along with him, not stopping until we were kissing again. I didn’t know what the future might hold, and in this moment, I didn’t need to. But thinking about it? Darcy D’Arcy didn’t have such a bad ring to it after all.

Baby steps. Tonight, kisses; tomorrow, we could make strides toward the future I knew in my gut was waiting with the sunrise.

Darcy and I were snuggled in his big, warm bed. I'd been awake for about an hour or so, trying to make sense of how I'd gone from running for my life to luxuriating with someone I was pretty sure I could call my boyfriend. Maybe not out loud, at least not yet. But definitely in my head.

I knew when he woke up, from the subtle change in breathing to the slight stiffening, then slow relaxation when he let himself melt back against me. He was lying there quietly, probably hoping I was still out cold so he could enjoy the same stolen snuggle time I had. I thought about giving it to him, but I didn't want to start with a lie.

"Good morning, Darcy. I hope you don't think I'm creepy for continuing to hold you when I woke up and found you sound asleep spooned against me. I... rather enjoyed the feel of you in my arms."

He hesitated, then playfully pushed his butt against the erection I'd been trying to hide. "Hard to find it weird when I can feel exactly how much you were enjoying it."

Chuckling, I kissed the back of his neck. His answering shiver didn't help my battle with morning wood. I was about to turn him over and greet the day with a kiss when the bedroom door flew open. Prudence stood in the doorway with crazy eyes and a lever-action shotgun in hand.

With a shriek, Darcy sat up and pulled the blankets over his bare chest. "Mom! Get. Out! Why are you trying to scare him away after you pushed us together?" He turned to me, frantically shaking his head. "I swear she's usually not this level of nuts. I don't even know what's happening right now. Menopause, maybe?"

The chook-chook sound of the metal-on-metal action from the lever sliding on the gun turned our attention back toward Prudence. She shot me a sassy wink before rolling her eyes at Darcy. "Honeybun, I would never scare a man from your bed. If I'm gonna shoot either of you, it'll be your ass over that menopause crack. Now get up and arm yourself. There's trouble outside the front gate. The alarms are going off like crazy."
