The Light Bringer (Gods & Monsters #3)(7)
Author: Janie Marie

“I do?” Tears welled up in her eyes as she croaked out her next words, “Baby, are you sure?”

David chuckled and kissed her thighs again. “You still make my heart beat faster when you call me that.” He rested his cheek on her leg and inhaled before kissing the skin there again. “Yes, you definitely smell like me. Neither one of them remains. Just me.”

Jane wiped her tears away as he kissed his way up her body.

“The cuts are gone already, too. It’s just a bit red.” His handsome face came into view, and he kissed her softly. “They’re not in you, Jane. It’s still me. Just like I said before we got together. Do you remember?”

“Yes, but I don’t understand,” she whispered, searching his eyes for any sign he was lying. “You didn’t even go in me.”

He chuckled, kissing her nose. “Oh, baby, I’ve missed your cute way of talking. And I did come a little bit to get my scent on you. And because I could barely keep from climaxing. You felt like a dream.”

Her breathing hitched as he gave her that David smile before he went on.

“I don’t know how my scent stayed and not theirs, but it makes me very happy.”

“Does that mean I’m pregnant?”

His eyes widened, and he looked down at her belly. “I do not think so. You weren’t ovulating. Immortals have a bit of a delay before they have their first cycle. I would have known.” He glided his fingers over her stomach. “I would know if my baby was growing inside you. It’s just my scent entwined with yours.” He looked back at her face. “Don’t ever hurt yourself like that again. I promise it is only me inside you. When you’re ready, I’ll make sure you only feel me, even when I’m not with you.”

“You still want to be with me?” She couldn’t stop her sob, throwing her arms around his neck when he kissed her.

“Always, my love.” David stared into her eyes as he brushed his lips over hers. “Do you want me to show you how much I want you? Do you want me to remind you how we feel when we become one? Because we are beautiful, baby. Our first time was rushed and of bad timing, but it was still a beautiful moment between us.”

She nodded. “It was.”

David gave her a long kiss as he pulled her legs around his waist. He caged her with his body, pressing against her gently but possessively. His heat rolled over her skin before seeping into her pores.

Jane gasped against his mouth when his erection caressed her sex. He was still wearing his wet underwear, which made her even more sensitive.

“Are you okay?” He pushed her hair back, but he smiled, thrusting his hips forward when she tried to rub herself against him.

“My David,” she whispered, smiling through her tears as she touched his lips. “Please make love to me.”

Those fiery lips were on hers again as she felt him pushing off his underwear. “My beautiful Jane.” He dragged his hand down her thigh, tugging her underneath him more. “My baby. My love.”

She was shaking. He was everywhere. She had no idea how he made their bodies fit together, but he knew exactly how to move her—exactly how gentle and how rough to be.

David licked her neck slowly. So slowly. And his hands were everywhere. Tender but so strong. So hot and firm. He was so much. And he was making her see stars as he grinned against her neck while sliding his shaft along her core.

“Oh, God.” Jane closed her eyes even though she wanted to watch his muscles as they flexed around her. She wanted to watch his smile, his beautiful eyes as they darkened but still managed to express all he felt for her.

David chuckled, lining up and pushing in just enough to have her coming undone. “Not God, baby.” He watched her cling to him as her body tensed and her legs shook. Just as she started to breathe again, he squeezed her ass and pushed his full length into her. “I’m just your David.”

Relax,” David whispered before placing a kiss behind her ear. “I think they’re in the bath anyway. Come on.”

He opened the door to his room and pulled her in. He was right; they weren’t in there. But Death was.

“Don’t ever leave me with them again,” he mumbled into the blankets. He was face down on the bed, his muscular legs hanging halfway off the side. “I have no idea how someone so little can have so much energy and be so hungry all at once.”

Jane smiled as her angel slowly rolled over and sat up.

He sniffed, shooting David a glare, but smiled when he looked back at her. “I’m glad you two made up. Is it our turn now, Sweet Jane?”

She tilted her head, confused. “Our turn for what?”

David pointed a finger at him. “I won’t ask her to behave differently with you, but you will stop putting her in situations where she can’t tell you no.”

Death just laughed. “Calm down. You got her your way, and I will have her mine.”

“Death, don’t piss him off,” Jane scolded as David pressed a kiss to her head.

“Stay here with him,” David told her before glaring at Death. “Keep your lips to yourself.”

Death flipped him off, but David simply kissed her head again before giving her a little nudge toward her angel and then entered his bathroom.

“You shouldn’t provoke him,” Jane whispered, stopping right in front of Death.

He smiled and held his hand out for her to take. Jane didn’t hesitate to grab it, and her heart ached at the sight of his sad eyes locking with hers. She touched his cheek, smiling but heartbroken for him as he leaned his face against her palm.

Death let out a sigh. “Hi, baby girl.”

“Hi, Death.”

“You look better.” He scanned her body quickly. “Did you feed again?”

Jane nodded and her chest tightened because of the longing in his eyes.

“Don’t worry about me, Sweet Jane.”

Her eyes burned, and she quickly hugged him to her chest.

Death wrapped his arms around her waist. “You’re going to get me in trouble.”

“Shh.” She struggled not to cry. “Do you hate me?”

“Never, baby girl,” he said, squeezing her tight. “Don’t cry. You’re about to see your babies.”

“Death.” She pulled back and held his face in her hands. “I do love you. So much. More than I can describe, but he’s—”

“I know, angel.” He covered her hand over his cheek and turned to kiss her palm. “David is where you belong. He’s a good man.”

She whimpered as tears welled up in her eyes.

He went on, his voice soft but always powerful. “He loves you so much. I won’t say more than I do, but it doesn’t really matter which of us loves you more. You will always have both of us. Anyway, we already came to an agreement before I got you back—we know what the other needs with you and what will be tolerated.” He smirked. “I may break his rules, but I think he already knows that. And I love you as well, baby. More than you will ever know. As long as you love me, and we can touch from time to time, I think I will be content.”

“I’ll never stop loving you.”

He smiled the smile that always sat in the back of her mind. “And I will love you longer than always, Sweet Jane.”
