Iced (VII Knights MC #1)(7)
Author: Winter Travers

“I’m gonna call her.”

“Right now?” Mercury laughed. “I think she’s a little busy.”

I rolled my eyes and tucked her card in my pocket. “She needed something from me, and I’m going to help her.”

“Be careful,” Mercury warned. “She’s related to the Ice Princess, and we all know what a bitch she is.”

I listened to Nessa talk, but my eyes were on Hannah the whole time. Her hands were in front of her, and a polite smile was on her red lips. Her red hair was piled on top of her head, with curly tendrils framing her face. The dark green velvet dress hugged the curve of her hips and waist and boasted more than a handful of tits beneath the dress.

While Nessa was all ice and cold, Hannah was fire and warmth.

Hannah was the type of woman I craved, and since she wanted me to call her, that was exactly what I was going to do.

This may end up being nothing, but I would find out either way.

Chapter Seven

Hannah

It had been three days.

He wasn’t going to call me.

Why had I been so foolish to give him my card and set myself up to be let down?

I ran my fingers through my hair sighed.

You’re an idiot, Hannah.

I swiveled in my chair and looked out over the parking lot of Mitcham Metals. The production plant was in the distance with plumes of smoke billowing from various chimney stacks as workers fabricated. This was a view I had loved the past five years being the head of accounting. It normally soothed me to watch the smoke disappear into the air while I knew strong, sturdy metals were bent, twisted, and manipulated.

It didn’t give me much comfort today.

Today the world kept turning, but that also meant whatever plan Nessa had agreed to was also going.

I hadn’t spoken to her since she blew up at me at the party. She thought me a fool for giving a stranger my number, but she wouldn’t let me explain why I had done that. All she could focus on was that I didn’t know the guy.

Sure, I could understand why that was a little troublesome but was that really as bad as the trouble she had gotten herself into?

Not at all.

Sitting by idle while I waited for Ice to call me was driving me insane. I was going to have to come up with another plan.

VII Knights.

That had been the club he had belonged to.

I knew the club owned Knight Building.

Maybe I could find the number of the company and see if I could get in touch with Ice. Hell, Ice had told me he was the vice president, so that meant there had to be a guy who was the president, right? Maybe I could figure out who that was. Perhaps that guy could help me.

Or he could be a colossal jerk and tell me to kick rocks.

I had to figure out something. I would go insane if I just kept going over everything in my head. It wasn’t like I was expecting Ice or the VII Knights to actually help me; I just wanted them to give me some more insight as to who and what Blanche Halo was.

I drummed my fingers on the armrest of my chair. What are you going to do, Hannah?

I jumped up and grabbed my purse. I knew what I wasn’t going to do. “I’m not sitting around doing nothing,” I announced out loud.

I grabbed the phone and dialed the extension to Mel. “Hi!” I chirped. “I’m heading out for the day. I have a couple of errands I need to do.”

Mel was my right hand in accounting, and I knew things would be fine with her in charge for a couple of hours. “Sounds good, boss,” she laughed. “It’s pretty slow right now anyway.”

“I’ll see you in the morning.” I hung up and quickly searched where Knight Building was located. I took a deep breath and grabbed my keys off the corner of my desk. I may end up looking like a complete fool, but at least I would know I did everything I could.

It was time I took some initiative and made things happen.

Finding Ice was the first thing on my list. Or whatever his real name was.

First, I would ask him his real name, and then I would dive into the whole Blanche Halo debacle.

There.

I had a plan now.

Things were really starting to shape up.

Now all I had to do was actually get in my car and talk to Ice.

I gulped and nodded my head.

I could do this.

I could do this.

Those four words repeatedly played in my head as I got in my car, drove over to Knight Building, and parked in front of the stucco building.

“I could do this,” I whispered.

I closed my eyes and gripped the door handle.

I can do this.

Chapter Eight

Ice

“One more truckload will be coming tomorrow,” I spoke into the phone.

“That’s good,” Mercury hollered. “We’ll be done with this by the end of the day, and we’ll need more in the morning.”

“I’ll let you know if that changes, but plan on that.” I spun a slow circle in my chair and tapped my pen on the armrest of my chair. “Once we get this building done, we’ll be onto the Robersons’ addition.”

“Sounds good, brother.” Mercury ended the call, and I tossed my phone on the desk.

I had just gotten back from the Dickson site to make sure the rest of the steel was on the way. I was the site manager for all the jobs, but on top of that, I managed all incoming loads of materials for present and future jobs.

Since I had told Mercury we were onto the Roberson’s; next, I needed to make sure everything was in order. The rest of my day would be filled with phone calls and not much else.

I much preferred to be on-site, but someone had to be the one to do the paperwork and phone calls.

The bell above the front door dinged, and I sighed.

I did not want to have to deal with a customer on top of all the phone calls I was about to make.

“Should have locked the damn door,” I muttered.

“Hello?” A woman’s voice called.

I knew that voice. It had been haunting me the past couple of days.

I kept going back and forth about whether or not I should call Hannah Mitcham. She said she needed my help, but just what kind of help could I give a woman like her?

“Coming,” I called. I stood and made my way out to the front.

“Oh, it’s you,” she gasped. “This is easier than I figured it would be.”

“You’re not going to tell me that I’m where I shouldn’t be?” I drawled.

She tipped her head to the side but then figured out what I was talking about. “No, this time, you are right where I want you to be. And for the record, last time, you wound up being right where you should have been, too.”

“You’re kind of a confusing woman, Miss Mitcham.”

Hannah stepped forward with her hand outstretched. “Call me Hannah, please. If you ever talk to Nessa, I would call her Miss Mitcham.”

“The Ice Princess?”

Her steps faltered, and her smile slipped. “Ice Princess?”

I waved my hand. “Forget I said that.” Why had I said that? Because everyone else around here referred to her as that, that was why.

“Is it because of her silver hair?” she asked.

“Uh, yeah.” Sure.
