Royally Inked (Royal Sons MC #9)(7)
Author: Elle Boon

“We’re fine.” Lux motioned behind her.

He brought his eyes up noticing the woman standing with her shoulders hunched. “Let’s step inside, then you can give me some details about your situation.”

The blonde’s blue eyes lifted. A slightly panicked look entered the startled gaze before quickly being shuttered. “I’m pretty sure, no I know that was my ex out there. He’s not supposed to be within a certain number of feet of me, no matter where I’m at. It’s been six months since our divorce, dammit.”

Lux moved to where the other woman stood and placed her arm around her shoulder, offering her comfort. T-Rex didn’t speak for a few seconds, allowing the two to do their women shit. Hell, he was sure his presence probably scared the other woman if she had an abusive ex.

“Davis and his family made my life hell once I decided enough was enough. They were rich and assumed I would continue to turn a blind eye to his... infidelities. I don’t or rather didn’t give two shits about the money. When we married, we stood before God and our families and promised to love, honor, and forsake all others. To me, that meant something. To him, it meant nothing”

“Nora, you were always too good for that bastard,” Lux said with such ferocity.

T-Rex was really good at reading people and the nuances in not only the way they spoke, but their body language. And the vehemence behind Lux’s words along with the stiffening of her body, he had a sinking suspicion that the bastard who hurt Nora had at one time hurt Lux. He began making plans and taking stock of each action between the women.

When the door behind him opened, he already knew it was Ember by the way his feet fell on the marble flooring. “Nora, Lux, you two alright?” Ember growled.

T-Rex didn’t miss the fact the man asked about Nora first. His fist eased with the need to punch his friend as Ember pulled first Lux then Nora into a hug.

“We’re fine, Ember. I’m assuming you called in the calvary?” Lux looked around Ember, her bright blue eyes meeting his.

“That he did.” T-Rex agreed.

“Did you get anything out of these two yet?” Ember asked.

He shook his head, wishing he’d have had a little more alone time with Lux. Well, as alone as he had been with the other woman right there too.

A hard knock on the back door had him spinning, his hand going to the back of his waist where he kept his gun. “Stay here with them,” he ordered Ember.

Moving out of the office slowly, he went to the exit door.

“Yo, open up, you big bastard.”

A grin split his lips as he heard Hollywood’s snarl. Unlocking the deadbolt, he stepped back after opening the door. Hollywood and Wheels stood outside, shaking their heads.

“Coal followed the little fucker but lost him thanks to some idiot on the highway deciding it was a good night to try to race, only he was drunk and crashed into a van full of church goers. Coal happened to be behind said van and couldn’t get around them fast enough to follow the prick before he got off on an exit. I told him to come on back,” Hollywood muttered.

“That’s alright. Not sure what we would’ve gained if he’d have been able to follow him anyhow. He probably lives in a gated community, which means Coal wouldn’t have been able to get too close.” The truth sucked, but then again life did that mostly.

“He does live in a very well-guarded community.”

T-Rex pinched the bridge of his nose when Nora spoke from too close behind him. Damn Ember, why the Hell wasn’t he watching the women?

“Sorry, I just slipped out to go to the ladies’ room when I overheard you two talking. My ex is a cunning prick. I didn’t mean to drag you all into my problems, and definitely not Lux.” She let out a tired sigh.

“She got history with the asshole or something?” T-Rex asked Nora, staring down at her with the full force of his intensity that made grown men cry.

“If you have questions about me and my past, boy, you ask me, not her or anyone else.” Lux stomped up next to Nora. Her perfect brows were drawn down in a frown that probably made others back away. He wasn’t like most people. Hell, his mama said she thought the doctor who delivered him might’ve been the one to cry instead of him when he’d been born.

“Oh, chérie, I’ll be asking you all kinds of questions,” he agreed.

The Louisiana accent he was really good at hiding came out when he was angry or in extreme situations. Never had he referred to a woman with an endearment like he’d just done. Baby or baby girl, sure. The use of chérie was new and not quite as strange when it came to her.

LUX WAS SURE HER FACE was a bright shade of red at T-Rex’s words. Hell, she was no shy and retiring virgin by a long shot, but dammit, he made her feel as if she were. Of course, if everything on the giant was...well giant sized, then she might need to look into that whole vaginal rejuvenation she’d heard about, if she decided to give him a whirl. Pump the brakes, hussy. Who the hell said he wanted to insert his part A into her part B?

“I don’t know who you think made you the boss, but newsflash, you ain’t the boss of me.” She placed her hands on her hips, hoping it made her look serious. Of course, to her dismay, his eyes zeroed in on her tits thanks to her stance.

“Hmm, we’ll see about that,” he said.

The deep timbre of his voice sent a shiver down her body, making all her girly parts tingle. She wanted to jump up and wrap herself around him like a damn silly girl and say, ‘Yes Please,’ but the twinkle in his dark eyes kept her rooted to the spot, barely. This man was surely used to women falling at his feet or crawling on their knees to him when he beckoned one large finger. She was not going to be one of the girls in his more than likely huge harem. Nope, her mama raised her better.

“If you two are done with the verbal sex, can we go into the office and discuss what the fuck happened tonight?” Ember asked. His too handsome face had a slightly amused grin on it she wanted to smush into the floor or a cake if she’d had one. Gah, she was such a wussy. Wouldn’t her sensei be disappointed in her.

She lifted both her hands, flipping him the bird.

“Nice, Luxey. Is that anyway to treat the man who sent the calvary in and rescued two damsels in distress?” Ember pressed one hand over his heart, the other arm he placed over Nora’s shoulder. “Ignore her, she’s grumpy because I think it’s shark week for her.”

At the words that spilled out of one of her bestie’s mouths, she wanted the ground to open up and swallow her or him. Hell, she truly thought of murdering the asshole in that moment. “I’m totally going to get even with you. And by the way, it’s not shark week for me, but it’s gonna seem like it for the unforeseeable future around here,” she promised.

Ember groaned, more than likely realizing the error he’d made.

“How about we all sit down and talk like adults, and you both stop acting like Neanderthals?” Nora didn’t wait for them, walking toward the only room with light spilling out of it.

“She’s feisty,” Hollywood remarked.

Wheels exhaled loudly before he spoke up. “Coal thinks he saw another rig join the guy he was following just before he lost them.”

“What made him think that?” T-Rex’s brows became a V as he frowned.
