My Billionaire Athlete : 3-in-1 Collection of Steamy Single Reads(4)
Author: Marian Tee

Christopher barely managed to keep a straight face. So they were still going to play that game then? Act like she was truly so innocent she'd think his hunger was for food, and that there was no way he'd have possessed all her holes before this day was over?

Very well.

He couldn't see any harm in playing along, and so he simply shook his head and flashed Vixen an easy smile. "Please don't concern yourself. What I'd rather we talk about is your question earlier. You were asking something, I think. About something I've...guessed?"

Vixen didn't answer right away, needing to take the time to consider the odds. Should she simply lie to save face...or speak the truth to ensure they started off on the right foot?

It took only a few seconds for Vixen to make up her mind, and once her choice was clear, she smiled back at him, asking quite simply, "How did you guess the truth?"

"The truth?"

Vixen nodded. "I saw the expression on your face. You obviously know I like you," she said matter-of-factly, "and I think it's a waste of time to pretend otherwise. But...I'd still like to know, though. What gave me away?"

Christopher had to cough several times to keep himself from grinning. That was what she wanted to ask? Truly?

She was really, really, fucking good, he thought with pleasure. He thought he had Vixen's make-believe role accurately pinned down to a shy and blushing virgin, but apparently she was more than the cliché...and he liked it.

No, actually, he fucking loved how rare it was, to have a woman keep surprising him like this, and because he had never been the type of lover to feel unconcerned of his own woman's pleasure...

Maybe it was time to return the favor, Christopher thought lazily, just to make things equally fun.

Vixen's heart thudded against her chest when she saw the way Christopher's gaze had turned hooded.

"I'm not sure if you're ready to hear this, but the truth is..."

Vixen was entranced. Christopher's voice had become rather devilish, with the way it was silky smooth on the surface but also brimming with a rather hypnotic sense of heat underneath.

"It's not that you did something to give you away, but it's more of like recognizing like..."

Vixen could hardly believe her ears. "Are you saying you like me, too?"

"I think it's more than like, Ms. Greene. I think..."

Vixen held her breath.

"I'm in love with you." Christopher counted the seconds after this. Anytime now...

"I'm sorry, Mr. Masterton."

Christopher blinked. In his script, saying the words would have Vixen say 'I love you' back, which would then speed things up, and they'd get straight to fucking. But apparently, her script wasn't following the same plot line, and he now had absolutely no idea where this conversation was heading.

"But I think I need some time to figure things out on my own."

Figure out what? How much he was willing to pay to have her in his bed?

"So if you could please excuse me—-"

"No, I won't," Christopher said right away, but it was as if she didn't even hear him.

"May I come back when it's time for your first session?"

"Can't we start the first, er, session now?" His cock was about to go out of its mind with wanting her, for fuck's sake. Did this girl have no pity?

The emphasis Christopher placed on the word 'session' made it sound rather lewd, but Vixen surprised herself by actually finding it amusing enough that it almost made her want to...

Smile, Vixen realized in surprise. He made her want to smile, when for almost a year now, her ability to smile automatically switched off when men were around. Christopher, however...

Since the moment they met and started talking, Christopher seemed to have some weird, secret access to her funny bone, and everything he said or did just made Vixen want to smile or even laugh.

There was just something so roguishly appealing about the athlete that it made her feel like she was her old self again, and just being with him seemed more than enough to constantly tempt Vixen's lips to shape into a smile...

Like now.

Christopher could only bite back a groan when he saw the way Vixen's lips curved into the sexiest little smile.

"The thing is, Mr.—-"

"Christopher please," he finally remembered to say, and when she actually went on to obey him—-

"Okay." Her smile widened just a little. "Christopher."

Eargasm. He had never experienced it before, but he certainly knew what it sounded now, with the way his name on Vixen's lips was making his dick throb like it was about to have a fucking tantrum.

"The thing is," she said again, "I like you a lot, but..."

She started gnawing at her lip, and the sight had Christopher feeling as randy as a goat.

"I'm not sure I'm in love with you, so..." Vixen cleared her throat. "May I have half an hour? Just thirty minutes, and then I'll come back, and I'll know what to do by then."

ONCE SHE WAS BACK IN her suite, Vixen wasted no time in calling Eve, an accountant who also worked at Stanhope Medical Center...as well as being the girlfriend of Dr. Konstantin Manolis, one of the world's leading neurosurgeons.

"Vix?" Eve's soft voice held a note of surprise when she answered the call.

"I have a question I need you to answer with complete honesty," Vixen declared straight away. "It will likely seem invasive, but I promise I have crucial reasons for asking it."

"Okay." Eve was a little apprehensive, but more than that she was undeniably curious as well. This sounded rather personal, which was rare for Vixen. The other girl was sweet, but-—

"I have a crush on Christopher Masterton."

Eve nearly dropped her phone. "The football player?"

"I might also be in love with him."

Eve really did drop her phone this time, and Vixen, not realizing what had happened, found herself wincing at the hard thudding sound. "Eve? Are you still there?"

"Sorry," Eve apologized after a moment. "I, um..." She cleared her throat. "Anyway, what was that you said?"

"I think I might be in love with Christopher," Vixen repeated patiently.

"And you're, um, telling me this because..."

"I wanted to know if you think it's possible for a girl to fall in love at first sight—-"

"Well, I've always been a hopeless romantic," Eve confessed, "so I'm inclined to say yes."

"Even if said first sight was actually a man she's only seen on the telly?"

Eve was in a state of disbelief. "This girl we're talking about is you, isn't it?"

After a moment's hesitation, Vixen said reluctantly, "Yes."

"I see." But actually...Eve did not see at all. Vixen had never been interested in men, and now she was telling Eve...she had fallen in love with Christopher Masterton after seeing the guy on TV?

"Do you need more time to think about this?" Vixen asked seriously. "I still have about twenty-three minutes before I have to make up my mind."

Eve didn't know whether to laugh or cry. This question actually came with a deadline, too? Shaking her head, Eve couldn't help saying, "I don't even get why you're asking me—-"
