Tangled Sheets(5)
Author: J.L. Beck

Shaking my head, I wish the thoughts away. My dick is getting hard and it would be embarrassing for my employees to see their boss with a chubby.

I think nothing of it as I walk down the first four flights. I try to work out every morning, so this is nothing to me. I’m barely breaking a sweat. Once I reach the sixth floor, I pause. I know I shouldn’t think about it, her, the one brief moment we shared, but I can’t stop. This is where she got in. This is where she works. There are three companies on this floor. I could maybe sneak a peek at her.

No.

I need to get her out of my mind, not re-live the fantasy. This can never happen again. Not here, not with her, whoever she is. It shouldn’t have happened.

The last thing I need is to run into her. If she finds out who I am, I’m screwed.

After yesterday’s shit show at the office, I spent the entire day working out, jerking off, and taking a long, cold shower. Only after all of that did I finally feel like me again. Sleep came easily to me once I got her out of my system.

Today, I woke up refreshed, the elevator ride from two nights ago, nothing more than a fading memory. An explicit memory. One I’m going to keep in the spank bank for a long time. But a memory nonetheless.

For a moment there, I was worried. I wasn’t sure if I could let that one go. Obsession has never been my thing, but I wanted to discover who the woman was, and sink back inside her. Briefly, I wondered if she thought of me as well, but knew that trailed into a different category. I’m not a player, but relationships aren’t my thing.

Passing my brother’s secretary without a second glance, I walk into his office unannounced. The door slams open and he lifts his head from the paperwork he’s looking at. He’s dressed in a navy-blue suit with a distasteful yellow tie, something I would never wear. But that’s William.

“Hey, Dipshit,” he greets me without really looking up from his computer screen.

“Can you act any more unprofessional?” I snap at him. “What if I was your assistant? Or even worse, a client?”

“I knew it was you. You are the only one brave enough to walk into my office without knocking. And you’re always punctual. You said you’d be here at eight sharp and guess what? It’s eight sharp.” He taps his index finger on his Rolex for emphasis. “Your need to be on time never disappoints, so don’t get your panties in a bunch, Nick.”

“Do not call me Nick around employees,” I scold him further while taking the seat across from his desk.

William rolls his eyes. “Yeah, yeah I get it. It’s not professional. I’ll make sure I call you sir, cause that’s not weird at all.” He gives me a serious look. “Seriously, Nick, get the stick out of your ass.”

Ignoring his remark altogether, because I don’t really care about pleasing my little brother, I ask, “Did you pick the team for the Trion project?”

“Yes, finalized everything last night. They’ve all been informed and are ready to meet the lead on the project. Matter of fact, they are eagerly waiting in the boardroom right now.”

“Great, let’s get to work. Have your assistant bring me a coffee, black. Also, while you’re at it, tell her to get someone to assist me while I’m here. I won’t have time for the menial tasks.”

“Of course, you do.” William shakes his head before pushing the button on the intercom. “Clarice, bring two black coffees to the board room, please.” The pleasantry rolls off his tongue with ease.

“Yes, sir.” Clarice’s high pitched voice filters through the receiver. I don’t miss the cheerful note in her tone, way too cheerful for such a request. It’s obvious that she’s interested in him, or maybe they’ve already…

Tapping my fingers on my knee, I question, “Are you screwing your assistant again?”

“Only that one time.”

“Damn it, William, how many times do we have to go through this? No screwing your staff!”

“What’s the fun in being boss then?” He shrugs, leaning back in his chair like he’s not breaking any rules.

“The fun? You can’t just screw your employees.” I scowl, ignoring the fact that I am a huge hypocrite, because there is a good chance that Anna is one of our employees. The difference is, she does not know who I am, and the chances that I will ever see her again, in a building that houses three hundred employees, is slim to none.

“Says who? My big, bad brother, who has a stick stuck up his ass?”

My face deadpans. “For one it’s unethical, and two, if Dad gets wind of it or someone leaks something to the press, it could cost us a lot of money. You realize it’s sexual harassment?”

“That’ll never happen.” He smirks, and I honestly don’t have the patience to deal with him or his idiocy right now.

“You don’t know that. Keep your dick inside your pants and pick up some random at a bar or party. It’s not worth the stress being with someone from work.” I sigh and get up, hoping this isn’t going to turn into a major fuck up.

William follows my lead and gets up. Buttoning his suit jacket, he moves his tie into place and walks out into the hall with me.

As we walk up to the board room, Clarice comes out of the break room with a tray of coffee, and gives my brother a seductive smile while batting her eyelashes. I could strangle him where he stands for sleeping with her.

Shaking my head, I push past him and into the board room. Everyone gets to their feet as my brother and I enter. It might be an asshole thing, but I don’t pay them much attention. I simply take the seat at the head of the table and let Clarice hand me my coffee.

“Good morning, team,” my brother greets the handful of employees he has picked to help me with this project. “I’d like to introduce you to my brother, Nicholas Brooks. As you may already know, he is the head of our New York branch, but I decided it would be helpful to have him help out here for a while.”

I almost laugh, he’s making it sound like it was his idea. Father was the one who forced him to comply. If William had his way, he’d do anything he wanted and damn the consequences, which is why he’s banging his secretary.

“Nicholas, may I introduce you to the team.” He pauses and I look up at him grimly and he continues. “Over here we’ve got Mike and John, our best architect and lawyer on staff.” I give them each a small nod.

“Bill across from you is our general contractor.” I look ahead and give him a nod as well.

“Next to him is Naomi, our public relations manager.” Naomi, a busty blonde, gives me a little wave and leans forward, flashing me her cleavage. Her red-painted lips pull into a seductive smile, and her eyes gleam with mischief and devious thoughts. One look at her and I know how she is going to play it. She thinks she can get away with anything and everything simply by flashing her tits.

I already don’t like her.

“Then to your other side, you’ll find Riley Moore, our interior designer.” My gaze swings to my right, falling onto the women sitting closest to me.

Her face is pale, her plump lips are parted slightly, almost in shock as she stares back at me with big, ocean blue eyes. Long brown hair is pulled up into a tight bun that sits high on top of her head, making her look professional.
