Over the Moon(7)
Author: K.K. Allen

When she holds out her hand for me to shake, I consider rejecting it, just to watch her squirm a little more. Little Miss Nurse deserves it after what she just insinuated. But even my asshole tendencies can’t ignore the strong desire to touch her again. I wrap her hand in mine and shake.

“It’s nice to meet you too, Silver. But please—” I pause, trying to fight the smile that wants to break free. “Call me King.”

The speed at which her fair skin brightens to a pretty shade of pink has me thinking about all the ways I can get her to blush again. When she goes to take her hand from mine, I tighten my hold just enough to let her know we’re not done with this little game. “Unless that makes you uncomfortable.”

“I think I’ll stick with Kingston.” She pulls her hand from mine again and gestures to the glass cabinet. “Back to the—”

“Condoms.”

She clears her throat. “Right. Well, I’m sure you know how teens can be. While we encourage safe sex, we have established counseling services in exchange for free contraception.”

My laugh is unstoppable this time. “Counseling services? No offense, Silver.” I say her name with an exaggerated flick of the tongue. “But if I was forced to get counseling every time I wanted to have safe sex as a teen, I would be fucked.”

Her gray eyes widen. “Excuse me?”

God, this little nurse riles me up inside, and I don’t even know why. It must be all that innocence trapped in that beautiful body. I lean down, leaving only a few inches of space between our faces. The sweet apple scent of her almost catches me off guard. “I said that I would be fucked.” I emphasize the curse word and smile. “Because if you think for a single minute that not having condoms would have stopped my teenage ass from getting it in, then you’re sadly in need of a little counseling of your own.”

Silver’s head tilts. “And what do you suggest? Leaving endless supplies of condoms on the front desk? That would practically encourage these kids to have sex.”

I shrug. “What’s wrong with that? Sex is as healthy as running a race, maybe even healthier. Think about it. You work up a sweat, it puts you in a great fucking mood, and it helps you sleep. You should try it sometime.”

The way her eyes search mine like she’s trying to find the humor in my response makes it seriously hard to hide the shit-eating grin fighting its way through my smile.

“Aren’t you supposed to be some kind of role model or something? That’s why you volunteered to come here, right? To mentor and coach kids who want to grow up to be just like you?”

I narrow my eyes at yet another insinuation. “I didn’t volunteer for this shit.”

She gives a quick shake of her head and laughs. “Wait. You didn’t volunteer to be here?”

“Not technically, no.”

“Care to elaborate?”

I purse my lips, pretending to deliberate over her request. “Nah, I’m good. But don’t worry. I don’t plan to give the little twerps any sex advice.”

She lets out a breath and steps back. “Well, that’s a relief,” she mumbles. Then she moves to her printer and grabs a handful of papers. She flips through them, straightens them on the desk, then offers them to me. “You probably want to settle in. You can read these over and fill them out at your cabin. Just make sure I get them back today.”

With a quick glance back at her, I notice a halo around her long blond hair thanks to the afternoon sun streaming through the window at her back. I might have noticed it when I spotted her among the crowd of staffers in the parking lot, but it’s this moment right now that I take in just how stunning Silver is. If it weren’t for the obvious annoyance at my mere existence written all over her body language, I would have probably made a move by now.

I look down at the papers, frowning, not keen on going anywhere anytime soon. I was loathing the idea of coming to this camp, but my outlook has drastically changed since meeting her. “Why do I get the feeling you’re trying to get rid of me?”

She looks at me for a second as if contemplating her thoughts, then she sighs. “I’m not. But I do have a lot of work to get back to, and you really don’t need me to fill all of that out.”

Quirking a brow, I decide to give the woman a reprieve. As fun as her buttons are to push, she’s done nothing to earn my torment. “All right, I’ll get out of your hair on one condition.”

A moment of silence passes while a contemplative look invades her expression. “What is that?”

“You’ll need to show me to my cabin, remember?”

“I’ll give you a map,” she says sharply.

“I think I’d prefer if you walked me. I’d hate to get lost and accidentally run into your boss on the way. Anderson, is it?”

Her jaw drops at my subtle threat, giving me far too much satisfaction for my own good. I know I can be a bit much, but it’s only a matter of time before Silver’s beautiful blond mane will be wrapped around my fist while I’m easing her mouth around my cock. She’ll forgive me soon enough.

She doesn’t respond to my request with words. Instead, she snatches up a set of keys from her desk, pushes in her chair with a forceful shove, and walks toward the door to her office. After she locks up behind us, her steps quicken with each second that passes. Her rush to be rid of me is exhilarating, to say the least. All that anger balled up inside her. I can only imagine what she’s like when she fully lets go. But even with the distracting vixen leading the way, I try to pay attention to the path she leads me on.

I didn’t realize just how big the campsite was until now. There are arrows at every turn of the trail, indicating where we are, and while most of the trail she leads me down is near a giant body of water, there are some paths with nothing but woods on either side. I swear we must circle the entire peninsula of the grounds before I start to see a row of spaced-out cabins.

“What cabin number are you?” she asks while still walking.

“Uh—” I reach into my back jeans pocket and pull out a slip of paper Zach handed to me on the bus. “Twenty-four B.”

A look of annoyance flashes on her face, but then it’s gone after my next blink. I almost think I imagined it until she stops walking and gestures to a rustic-looking cabin set off at the end of the row. “This one is yours.”

Ignoring her for a second, I look around and spot a sliver of water through the trees and an access trail nearby. There’s an arrow just past my cabin pointing in the direction we were heading that reads Staff Only.

Perking up, I let my lip twitch with the makings of a smile. “Which one of those cabins is yours?”

She gives me a frustrated shake of her head. “If you think I’m answering that, then you’re sadly mistaken.”

“Ouch,” I say with a quirk of my lip. “You really don’t like me very much, do you?”

Narrowing her eyelids at me, she lets out a heavy sigh. “I don’t know you, Kingston. But if first impressions are anything to go by, then you might be onto something.”

“Damn. I’m going to have to work on that, aren’t I?”

This time, Silver has the audacity to laugh. “I wouldn’t waste your time.” Then she takes a few steps back, gesturing to my new cabin. “Enjoy yourself. If you need anything, just dial four for room service.”
