Playing Dirty (The Driven World)(3)
Author: Cheri Marie

“You’re welcome.” She smiles sweetly, handing me my order as I hand her a ten and tell her to keep the change. I make my way outside and take a seat at my favorite spot in the shade. Pulling the donut from the bag, I take a bite as I send a text to Lazaro.

Me: Hey babe. I’m on lunch, just wanted to say hi and I miss you.

Lazaro: Hey! I miss you too. Super busy though. See you after work.

I sigh in frustration and toss my phone onto the table. No matter when I text Lazaro lately, whether he's home or at work, he’s always too busy. Not that I expect him to drop his work to talk to me but he’s just… distant.

I take another bite of the donut and immediately feel sugar fall into my shirt. I roll my eyes at myself for not using a napkin, I know better. I quickly finish and then check my surroundings to make sure no one is watching. Reaching a hand up my shirt, I grab the hem of my bra, pulling it away from my body as I vigorously shake my shirt and bra to get the sugar out of them.

“Need a hand?” A low deep, southern voice asks.

My gaze shoots up straight into the most mesmerizing deep brown eyes I’ve ever seen. The kind that makes a girl fall off her chair. I gulp the saliva that has pooled in my mouth as I continue to take him in. His dark hair is short, slicked back away from his forehead, and his jaw is taut as he continues to stare at me. He cocks his head to the side as his lips form a devious smirk while waiting for me to answer him.

This man makes my heart flutter, and stomach twist into knots.

“I… uh… No… I’ve got it,” I say, finally finding my voice.

He’s wearing a dark pair of denim jeans, paired with a white polo shirt and dress shoes. He’s a walking sex god and I can’t peel my eyes away from him. I have a boyfriend. I shouldn’t be looking at another man like this. I quickly return to my task at hand and release my bra. It snaps against my skin. Ouch! I rub the spot where the elastic stung me.

He raises an eyebrow. “You sure? I don’t mind lending a hand.”

I huff. “No. Thank. You.” I enunciate each word. “I have a boyfriend, please leave me alone.”

He chuckles. “No problem sugar tits.”

He walks away into the café leaving me both bewildered and speechless. He’s cheeky, cocky and obviously has too much ego for his own good. I’ll admit hearing him flirt with me and call me sugar tits was attention I’ve been craving from Lazaro for months. I watch as he begins to flirt with Leila flashing her an obvious smile, and she practically melts over the counter as he speaks. I roll my eyes. The audacity of him.

A man follows him inside and I hear him holler, “Well, I’ll be damned, Sebastian Abbott, the richest and sexiest mother fucker I know.”

I don’t hear his response, I’m too busy looking at his face. So, Mr tall, dark and cocky has a name. Sebastian Abbott. I’m interrupted in my staring at him by my phone ringing on the table. I pick it up seeing Arianna’s number blink on the screen.

“Heya, Ari, did you change your mind?” I ask her.

“Um no actually. I’m really sorry to cut your lunch hour short but I need you back here. Heaven’s school just rang and she’s sick. She’d told me she wasn’t well this morning and I didn’t believe her.”

“Don’t panic. I’ll get my donut to go and be right back.”

“Thanks.” A click tells me she’s gone. I put the remainder of the donut back in my bag as I glance back into the café, shaking my head at the sight of Leila flirting with the man I just had my encounter with. I could never fall for a guy like him.

Chapter Three

Sebastian

I chuckle to myself, knowing I caught her completely off guard as I stroll into the bakery. I’m in desperate need of some coffee after a five-hour flight. I hate flying and even a short flight feels like a ten hour one.

“Hello beautiful.” I smile, greeting the barista who is currently eye-fucking me from the other side of the counter.

“Hi.” She giggle-moans. “What can I get for you?”

“Large coffee, light and sweet.”

“Coming right up,” she says as she practically bounces off to prepare my drink.

I watch out of the front window of the small bakery as the raven-haired beauty from outside gathers her things to leave. She was gorgeous as she flushed with embarrassment when I asked if I could help her with her predicament. I wonder for a moment what she would look like mid orgasm. No woman in a while has made me imagine seeing them naked. Chloe is just a distraction when I need her. I have a feeling that the sugar-coated beauty will be on my mind for a while. I chuckle to myself again at the memory of her expression when I called her sugar tits.

A few moments later, the barista places my coffee on the counter in front of me.

“How much do I owe you?”

She bats her long lashes at me as she licks her lips. “It’s on the house.”

“Oh, well… thank you… Leila,” I say with a wink. Taking a seat at a table in the front, I pull my phone from my pocket and dial Helen.

“Hello Mr Abbott.”

“Hi Helen. How is my mother?”

“She’s sleeping but doing okay. They gave her some pain medication to relax.”

“That’s good, she needs to rest. My plane landed just a little bit ago. I’m grabbing a coffee on my way to the hospital. Can I get you anything?”

“No, thank you Mr Abbott.”

“You’re welcome. See you soon.” I end the call and pull up my email to see Helen has emailed me the details of where my mother’s room is in the hospital and how to go about paying for her care, just as a gruff, familiar voice bellows through the small bakery.

“Well I’ll be damned, Sebastian Abbott, the richest and sexiest mother fucker I know.”

I laugh and get to my feet. “Well if it isn’t number two, Benjamin Moore.” I extend my hand to shake his before pulling him in for a hug. “How the hell are you?” I ask, sitting down and waving Ben to take the seat across from me.

“I’m great! What do we owe the pleasure of having you back in the good `ol state of North Carolina?”

“My mom. She fell. They think she broke her shoulder, so I came home to check on her and give Helen a little break.”

“Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that.”

I shrug. “It’s okay. I’m sure she’s going to be okay.”

“So how long are you staying?”

I pick up my drink taking a sip before I answer him. “Just for a week or so. I have to be back in Cali by the 30th. It’s Selena’s first race.”

“Selena’s what?” He asks, surprised.

I laugh. “She told me she wanted to be a racecar driver. So, I bought her a racing team.”

He shakes his head. “She’s still spoiled as fuck, I see.”

I roll my eyes. “Of course, she is.” I check the time on my phone. “I better get up to the hospital to check on my mother. It was good to see you! We should get together for a beer or something while I’m in town.”

“Hell yea brother, just give me a call. Oh, before you go though…” Here we go, he wants my help with something. He always did when we were in High School together. Seems nothing has changed since I’ve been gone. ”I’m trying to sell this commercial property, but I don’t really know shit about real estate. I have a showing set up in a couple days. You think maybe you could help me out and show it for me?”
