Playing Dirty (The Driven World)(2)
Author: Cheri Marie

“I think I’m going to puke,” Selena says dramatically. “Let’s go!” she demands ushering me towards the door.

“Thank you, Mr Abbott.” Chloe purrs at me. “I look forward to meeting all your needs again tomorrow.”

A vision of her bent over my desk as I pound into her from behind tomorrow stirs my cock to life again. I curse Selena for turning up early. I was looking forward to spending the rest of today indulging in my secretary. Who knew that my old and better secretary finally retiring and moving to Florida would work out so well for me? Chloe adds a certain quality to my day. Selena punches me, bringing me back from my daydreaming.

“Ow,” I whine, rubbing my arm dramatically. “That hurt.”

Selena laughs. “Liar. Now let’s go get some tacos!”

“How are you doing? How’s the race practice going?” I ask Selena as we slide into my car. My sister has always been a petrol head. She takes after our dad that way. When she was eighteen, she decided she wanted to race cars so finally, and recently, I was able to purchase her a racing team. I’ll admit its fun being the manager, but I don’t know shit all about it.

“Not too bad. I’m getting better each time I’m on the track and the team have been great too.”

“Excellent, I’m glad to hear it.”

My phone rings just as we pull into our favorite taco spot. It’s our mother. I answer and put it on speaker phone. “Hey mama, I have you on speaker cause Ena is here too.”

“Hi Mr Abbott, its Helen.”

A twinge of panic comes over me. “What’s wrong? Is my mother okay?”

“She’s fallen. Doctors believe she’s broken her shoulder when she fell because she tried to catch herself. I’m so sorry Mr Abbott, I only left her for a moment to use the restroom.”

“It’s okay, Helen. I’ll be there as soon as I can, until then, please keep me updated on what the doctors say.”

“I will, Mr Abbott. See you soon.”

I hang up and quickly dial the office, hoping Chloe hasn’t left yet.

“Abbott Enterprises, Chloe speaking.”

“Chloe, I’m glad you’re still there!”

“Yes, I was just about to lock up. What can I do for you?” She purrs into the phone.

“Call Josh and tell him to have the jet ready in thirty minutes.”

“Yes sir.”

“Thank you.”

I hit the end button and slip my phone back into my pocket. When I look up at Selena, she looks worried. She likes to act like a little hard ass, but when it comes to our mother, she’s putty. Definitely a mama's girl.

“Don’t worry, Ena. She’ll be fine.” I reach over grabbing my little sister's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “Come on, let’s get some tacos and then I need to get to the air strip.”

After a quick bite to eat, we make our way to the airstrip. I’m nervous. I haven’t been home in a very long time.

We pull up to the airstrip and Josh has the plane ready. Selena is on her phone, making plans with friends for the evening. I slide out of the car and she quickly ends her call to say goodbye to me.

“Call me as soon as you land and go see mom, please!” she says.

“I promise! Please behave yourself while I’m gone.” I look at her pointedly.

She rolls her eyes. “Promise!” She wraps her arms around my waist, squeezing me tightly. “Have a safe flight! Love you, Bastian.”

“I will! I love you too, Ena.” I hug her back then release her as I walk towards the jet to board for my flight.

Chapter Two

Tristan

“Tristan,” my boss, Arianna’s voice comes over the intercom on my desk.

“Yes? Whatcha need?”

“I emailed you a few properties I’m interested in to move the office. Can you please send an inquiry for each and set up appointments to view them?”

“Absolutely! I’ll get right on it.”

“Thank you.”

“Anytime.” The intercom beeps telling me she’s gone back to work. I’ve been working as a Personal Assistant for Arianna for the past eight years and I love my job. Some days are busier than others, but I love it. Arianna runs a company called Angels for Heroes, helping military families in need find housing, food and anything else they need. She’s an amazing person and so caring too; I couldn’t imagine working for anyone else. I take a seat at my desk and quickly pull up the email from Ari.

Clicking the link, I quickly fire off the inquiries to all the properties she’s interested in, hoping that they’re still available. We’ve been looking for a new location for our office, but we haven’t found ‘the one’ just yet. I busy myself with updating files on families we’ve already helped to track their progress when my email dings.

I’m excited as Arianna has wanted to move from where we are for a little while and this would be a prime location. I immediately set up an appointment to go view it, add it to Arianna’s calendar and flick her a quick email letting her know what I’ve done. I can’t wait to know what she thinks.

The alarm on my phone rings, letting me know its lunch time. I push the intercom button and type in Arianna’s extension.

“Hey, Ari I’m going to lunch. Do you need me to bring you back anything?”

“No, thank you. Landon is on his way with lunch as we speak.” Landon is Arianna’s husband. He’s a retired Marine and absolutely perfect for her. I’ve gotten to know him very well over the last few years.

“Great! I’ll be back in an hour. If you need me sooner, just call.”

“Okay. Have a great lunch!”

I gather my phone and handbag, heading to the door as Landon pulls up in his car. He gets out, making his way towards the door. I notice he doesn’t have anything in his hands, but I don’t question it. They’re so stupidly in love that perhaps he’s taking her out on a surprise lunch. She’s such a lucky lady. I’ve been with my boyfriend, Lazaro, for nearly seven years and he doesn’t even think to cook dinner as a surprise anymore. Stepping through the front door Landon smiles. “Hi, Tristan.”

“Hi, Landon, she’s in her office.” He makes a beeline for her office door and I pop out the front one making my way out to my car.

I slide into my car and pull out of the parking lot to head towards my favorite little bakery, Hot Buns, that’s a few blocks up the street.

“Yes!” I cheer, thankful that no one is parked in front. I’m awful at parallel parking when there’s only one spot open, so I’m always happy when everyone else decides to park in the parking garage. Pulling my car into the space, I put the car in park and get out of the car with a spring in my step.

I pull the door open to the small bakery and immediately the smell of cinnamon and sugar fills my nose, making me drool and my stomach growl. A few people sit sporadically throughout, some chattering amongst themselves while others are busy on their laptops.

By the time I get to the counter, the barista has my order– a cinnamon and sugar donut and coffee ready for me. “Hi, Leila.”
